  1. Sorry mate the link I got mine from doesn't work anymore, though they do have their own website you could search. They def didn't release this on CD though. If I wanted to irritate Geoff I could say that you should try and download "Losin' It" and not bother with the rest, but that would be harsh... The first half of the album is great....the second half is quite weak is memory serves me right........

After 3 or 4 spins now I'd say I'm right in the middle on this. There's barely a weak moment on it and some of the vocals/musicianship are stunning so listening to the whole thing through is quite an experience. But the greater focus on musicianship and the less focused approach means the choruses don't stand-out as much, plus the pace is too leisurely and the verses/pre-choruses too drawn-out on a lot of songs to make them stick IMO. One or two are frankly a struggle to sit through. Overall it's a quality disc but my natural taste for shorter/punchier songs will mean I'll always prefer "Revelation" to this... Yeah 'She's a Mystery' is unnecessarily long, and 'Human Feel' does drag a bit at the end. Elsewhere I find 'Ritual' a bit muddled, but its refreshing to hear someone at least appreciating the stunning arrangement of this album. I personally think there are some really strong chorus lines here. City Of Hope, Chain Of Love, Anything Is Possible, Resonate, To Whom and Someone all have the strong typical Journey styled choruses to these ears, so not really sure what some are missing here?? Also is it just me or is 'To Whom It May Concern' just a great great ballad. Could end up going down as one of the band's best IMO. Obviously 100% is way over the top to rate this disc and there will no doubt be a few discs which may surpass this by years end....Im thinking the likes of Toby Hitchcock (which is supposed to be stunning by the way), Work Of Art, HEAT, Strangeways (If you believe Terry Brock's last statement!)......but id still rate it a solid 85-90% at the moment and that's after only about 5-10 spins. Cheers
  3. http://heavyharmonies.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=26958 Full debut album due August I think..........but me thinks this will get eclipsed in August looking at whats due to be released in that month :-))
  4. Excellent album....one of the better dics ive heard this year and probably residing in my top 10 (just.......)

Ha lol didn't expect any other comments from a few on here. Great album for me. Most of these songs have great choruses and hook lines, really think you lot must be listening to a different disc lol!! There's been some real disappointing clunkers this year but this isn't one if them. Just gets better with every spin IMO
  6. I am ashamed to say that I havent ordered this yet, but it is on my list of things to do asap.........anyone heard it yet? Any opinions?? Cheers
  7. backed. the first 3 (?) songs are pretty good and then Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
  8. boring you mean, apart from 2 songs - which I bet you can easily guess. Thats how boring it is :-(( np Madam Adam - s/t Journey - Eclipse Journey - Revelation
  9. Not sure if its 'done its dash'. The kiddie rocker sound that some of these albums have certainly has, But I really like that Madam Adam disc for example. Definitely going off the part screamo songs, gotta be clean vox all the way now or it just doesnt cut. I dunno, its just when I play a modern disc these days and then for example put on the new Dynazty or Edens Curse or the like there is just no comparison. Maybe I am moving on................

To each their own. Classic stuff to these ears. The chorus is huge as well, not sure where you guys are coming from. A song really couldnt get more epic IMO and the arrangements and playing are just awesome. I tell you what I'll just recoil into my little hole and enjoy it all to myself ;-)
  11. Yeah, the new Destrophy CD is pretty much hard rock rather than modern... either way it's brilliant. Very happy with the way modern rock is going this year. Better than HH-style melodic rock so far. Very disappointing overall last year - a lot of consistently good CDs, but so few standout tracks. Already some absolutely brilliant discs full of standouts in 2011. Yeah Destrophy is defo hard rock through and through....nothing modern in there whatsoever IMO. Im struggling to agree with that second comment. HH style has been great so far this year, and arguably all the best releases are still to come :-) What with Farcry, Journey, Night Ranger & Lionville etc all due in the next few weeks and later in the year Work Of Art, Toby Hitchcock (that first sample sounds AWESOME!! Much heavier than I was expecting from him!) etc I think that HH style will trounce modern again just like it did last year. IMO. Yeah mate, I think that's where HH styled stuff is failing. It keeps ticking over to the best is still to come. Then it comes and it's not quite as good as anticipated so it's onto the next hopeful release. Don't get me wrong, I love Miss Behaviour so far, and add to that the Bad Habit CD and you have two stand-outs. Make it three, with Wicked Jester. Otherwise, you have Hell In The Club, The Poodles, Dynazty, Beautiful Beast which have all released very solid discs, followed by stuff like Myland, Pompei Nights, Elevener, Blackrain, Eden's Curse and Within Temptation who have all released a great CD this year. A lot of very good stuff, but nothing that's really gripping my balls till they burst. And after these ones there's not too much really great stuff. With modern rock, Trust Company, Forever the Sickest Kids, Destrophy (I'll leave it here for now), The Blackout, The Friday Night Boys and Junior Doctor have all delighted me with magnificent CDs. And further down the list, I have about 40 modern rock albums from this year that I think are really great. It's been a very good year so far. I don't like that Blackout album much at all. In fact all those heavier modern bands have completely sold-out (Architects, We Are the Ocean, etc) and are now just pop with poor vocals - no wonder they all screamed before, is because they can't sing! Modern Rock is dying on it's arse IMO, and all those bands are now having to change their style - even the mega bands like My Chemical Romance or 30STM have changed direction. Oh, and Destrophy isn't modern rock at all IMO. Sorry but virtually every modern rock album ive heard since the beginning of 2010 has been complete bollocks compared to the likes of Skillet, Shinedown, Monty Are I, Nural etc....thats the stuff I crave for again.

One of the greatest ballads you will hear this year - pure genius. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cguf6qtsEw
  13. Thanks God for that ;-) & it sounds a whole lot better for it too. In fact by FAR the worst song is the rambling 'Revelation To The End'. Elsewhere this is pretty damned good. & the musicianship is awesome as usual!
  14. I love this album. Wont be my album of the year, but it is still great!
  15. Ahhh, finally some fans of Destrophy. Awesome band, awesome album. Nuff said.

    Journey

I think it's understandable. A lot of people have got into the band based upon their 3-minute singles alone, and this album has none of those songs on it at all. Sure there's great musicianship/vocals etc etc, but for me if there isn't a great song/chorus that sticks in your head then all of the above is pointless. On initial impressions I think they've pushed this too far... I think the band were pretty clear that this wasnt going to be your run of the mill Journey album. They stated that they 'had enough standard issue hits'. This album was all about creating something different. Pushing the boundaries both musically and artistically (and why shouldnt they after 30 odd years), and I believe they have done that and produced something pretty memorable. & with ragrds to songs not sticking in your head, Ive listened to this about 5 times now and pretty much have all the songs playing in my head....some very clever hooks on this album - in particular songs with very strong hook lines are 'Chain Of Love', 'Tantra', 'Anything Is Possible' (pretty close to standard Journey song by the way, except for the AWESOME solo at the end!!!), ''Resonate', 'To Whom....'. In fact pretty much all of them have parts which stick in your head, I'd be interested actually to hear which ones you think dont make the mark, cos to me they are all pretty awesome. The only song which feels a little confused is Ritual, but its still pretty good.

    Non-league 2010/11

I was sorry to hear that result Ian, maybe it`s time to change team....... Man Utd are supposed to be pretty decent full of injunctions mate ;-)
  18. Deja Vu (enjoyed this again....very cleverly put together)
  19. Yaaaaaaaaaaawn. np Pagans Mind - Heavenly Ecstacy [apart from one or two slips pretty much lives up to its title]
  20. Excellent new album. Here are a couple of songs - brilliant vocals, choruses, and in particular awesome guitar solos. These songs are much more accessible than some of their previous stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gLI6XmlKc4w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sp4wmp8c_ek

    Journey

LOL, see all the losers over at Melrock are slating it.....they all need their ears testing IMO.
  22. If I'm totally honest I doubt I will ever listen to this again - twice was already enough :-( Just to many other GREAT releases about at the moment!!
  23. Yeah I'm liking those samples too! Looking forward to seeing them support Night Ranger in London in a few weeks :-)
  24. Backed. This has the potential to be HUGE, esp with the WET songwriters involved. As you say that first sample sounds KILLER!! V excited. haven't heard it, so does it have more WET vibe than Pride of Lions ? is Jim Peterik also involved in this record ? It does have a POL vibe but much heavier. Sounded pretty great actually. A friend on my Facebook has heard the first 3 tracks and says they are all killers! :-)
