  2. I don't visit any Myspace-pages anymore since it crashes my computer everytime I try to do so. Anyway I ran across some new bands on Facebook: Lipz (Sweden): Lipz Homepage Close Quarters (Sweden): Close Quartes HP Stains (Sweden): Stains FB XTC Avenue (Sweden): XTC Avenue FB
  3. Wow, Sweden never ceases to amaze me! Together with one of the biggest newspaper in the country, Ryan Roxie has put together a new show on rock – called "Big Rock Show". Like it a lot! The first episode of the series is available at Big Rock Show, guesting Zakk Wylde. There's some serious eye-candy as well
  4. Looking forward to this one! It's been recorded in LA, but it was mixed by Chris Laney in Sweden. Perfect package in my eyes I was going to post the Nicke Borg-entry as well – like that song a lot!!
  5. Could be the pressure of a major label (Spinefarm being a subsidery of Universal), who knows? Anyway, it's great to see young bands trying to release albums within a short timeframe (like back in the days). With so many new bands popping up, it's part of the game to stay in the spotlight, otherwise people move on and forget about you.
  6. Are there any really sleazy (and not punky) tracks? Kinda hard to draw the line between sleazy and punky for this album to be honest. "Another Night in the Sun", one of the bonus tracks, is probably one of the most "rock"-ish songs on here. But songs like "Trick of the Wrist", "Later won't wait" or "Modern Day Miracle" could easily be classified as "rock" or as "punk".
  7. I saw Vains of jenna last year and they were great! Jesse Forte, their new singer, is much better than his predecessor imo and you gotta remember that these guys are still young. So each year of gaining more experience could make a big difference. Btw: Just watched a couple of old clips on Youtube and I can only repeat myself: They are so much better and much more professional now!
  8. Michael Monroe - Sensory Overdrive Hard to believe he's turning 50 next year if you hear this album. A lot of energy, sometimes a little too much punk for me, but Sensory Overdrive is a bold statement from Monroe. It has Ginger's influence written all over it, creating a real band-vibe. Great production by Jack Douglas. Universal/Spinefarm should definately release "All you need" as the next single as with a little airplay this could easily become a mainstream-hit! I got the Limited Edition with two (great) bonus-tracks. Still it is just over far too soon clocking in at only about 35 minutes.
  9. I recently got the Mega Drive/Genesis-Collection for the PS3 and I'd definately recommend it. It's quite cheap to get and there's the big advantage/spoiler of being able to save progress anytime you want while playing.
  10. Perhaps the website's down because David is updating it at the moment...still when it gets to PR I can't really understand Suncity. They release such great products, but as a customer you have to work your way across the web to even get some infos/tracklists about it.
  11. Great review Geoff!! I don't know why, but I always got a soft spot for the Ataris. Check out "So long, Astoria": great, emotional album, which has nothing to do with "punk". They should have a new album out later this year in the same vein.
  12. I have sort of an aversion against the singer's voice, BUT in terms of song-writing this is a very good disc! "Key to my Heart" is by far my fave track on here. Agree that they aren't really "sleaze" though. IMO they are quite close to the Poodles.
  13. Has anyone heard of Crowdbands? I just read over at Hardrockhideout that the Donnas have signed with them for their next record. Their concept is that the fans run every part of the process as deciding which songs should end up on the record, how should it look etc. This definately sounds like a very interesting concept! Crowdbands
  14. No I keep meaning to check that out....the few songs ive heard were really good. I picked it up back in September. I'm not a big fan of the vocals, but if you are, this might easily end up in your Top10 as the songwriting is strong. "Key to my Heart" is an excellent song! It'd be somewhere around rank 20 in my list. Distorted Wonderland is not as good as Crashdiet or HCS in my books, but I'd rank them around place 15.
  15. I take it on reference to your track 4 you are talking about the Jap version running order. In which case the album surely begins with track 3 ;-)) Which is my second favourite song on the album and an absolute killer track! I'm actually talking about the Euro-version Imo "We're gonna make it to the End", "Black Night" and "I can't look the other way" are the lamest (or should I say l "least best") tracks on offer (although I do like 'em as well, just not as much as the rest). Agree on "Danger Road" though, fantastic track indeed!
  16. Nice lists already guys! Although there are by far more than just 10 great discs, I tried to limit myself to the classic format of a Top10, so here's my definite list: 1. Crazy Lixx - New Religion Got this one the day it came out and have never really stopped playing it. IMO not one dull note on here and some real standout-tracks with "Rock and a hard Place", "21 til I die" or "Blame it on Love" and a great Laney production all over the place. Already looking forward to the next one 2. Crashdiet - Generation Wild When I got this one, I thought it's good but not great. A couple of spins more and I was completely hooked by this masterpiece which I rate even higher than "Rest in Sleaze". These guys have to be some of the best young songwriters around. Simon Cruz fits in perfectly and RamPacs production is pure bliss. 3. H.E.A.T - Freedom Rock After Kenny leaving the band, theses guys are forced to come up with a new album very soon, so I guess "Freedom Rock" will go down in history as sort of an overlooked album from this band. Nevertheless, this in an excellent piece of work, although it only really kicks off with track 4 "Shelter". From there on it is flawless imo. I have a feeling the next one is going to be even better. 4. Airbourne - No Guts no Glory Yeah, Airbourne are the AC/DC for the new generation and yes they didn't reinvent the wheel with NGNG. I know I'm in the minority, but I think NGNG surpasses the debut, with a better balanced songwriting and a tight and very analog-sounding production. "Bottom of the Well" is one of my favourite tracks of the year. 5. Treat - Coup de Grace Simply put the best reunion-album of ANY 80's band for me! It only didn't climb higher on my list because of the strong, young contrahents, but in terms of songwriting, musicianship and production values this is near perfection. 6. Hinder - All American Nightmare What I thought of to be the disappointment of the year, turned out to be a very enjoyable affair. Maybe not as consistent as TITTL in the end, this will be getting a lot of spins in 2011. In the ballad-department these guys are on top of their game and they've really nailed it this time with four potential hit-singles. 7. Stan Bush - Dream the Dream Stan Bush's formula might wear out over the course of several high-class albums, but lyrically this disc fit into my personal year as a glove. The songwriting as always is top-notch and I feel if he hadn't released two great albums predecessors already, "Dream the Dream" would get a lot more praise. 8. American Bang - ST Surprise of the year for me. Bought this mainly because I could pick it up quite cheap and because I liked the track "A man can change", but found myself enjoying the whole disc after a couple of spins. Far superior to Kings of Leon, who they've been compared to, in my books. Bob Rock proofs that he's still one hell of a producer. 9. Hardcore Superstar - Split your lip I honestly don't know why HCS didn't get higher on my list as I really like their newbie and think it's one of their strongest efforts. Proofs what a fantastic year 2010 has been. 10. Buckcherry - All Night Long While the first 9 places were rather easy to arrange for me, spot number 10 could have easily been something different than Buckcherry. "Never say never" made the difference in the end, putting this one in front of the likes as Jettblack, Reckless Love etc.
  17. Finally someone who mentions this and I agree! I used to spend hours looking and listening through upcoming bands on Myspace, nowadays there seem to be viruses all over the place from what I've heard and the layout just sucks big time. Too bad! For "socializing" I always preferred FB over MS, but I will miss the music-part...

After a couple of spins I gotta say I like it almost as much as TITTL already. I'm still not too keen on the title track and on "Waking up the Devil", but enjoy all of the other tracks. Especially "Good LIfe" which shows that AAN should contain at least 11 tracks. "Bad Muthafu**a" on the other hand is the kind of song that doesn't belong on any record, I just can't seen anyone with pubic hair liking this All in all a very good record which made my Top10 list this year!
  19. Any links to that one? Yeah, of the ones not on the list Steel Panther and HEAT will be big drawcards for me, and on the modern rock front I cannot wait to hear if Yellowcard can match their 'Paper Walls' album. Here you go mate: Great song!
  20. Nice list David! It'll be interesting to hear all of those albums, but I'd add the following ones (in no particular order): Mike Tramp Koritni Reckless Love The Friday Nights Easy Action Steel Panther Million Dollar Reload ... and of course: H.E.A.T!!!
  21. Bleu wants to put out an album in 2011 with Loudlion! Interview Bleu
  22. I can definately see someone not liking Bully! It's quite a simple and catchy song, but I like the attitude Guestlist and Last Call are better imo! My only critic is that quite a few of the songs get to the choruses too soon. I liked the more complex song-structures of the ST and Dreamin'. That being said, the choruses on SYL are excellent, but sometimes it gets annoying hearing them again every 20 seconds...

Having the same opinion about TITTL, I'm not happy to hear that! Haven't heard the album, but the tracks on youtube really aren't THAT good, although they already grow on me. Still, for the fact that they have written over 70 songs for this one, it's disappointing to hear fillers. Did you hear the Deluxe edition with two bonus tracks or the standard edition? Hey mate, haven't heard that but I'm surprised and disappointed to see there are only 10 tracks on this if they wrote over 70. I want to hear all 70! Imagine all the amounts of Deluxe and Super delux versions there will be for this one. Special Itunes version etc. I might hold off for a while before I buy a hard copy of this one and just weigh up which is the most worthwhile. Yeah, don't be too worried mate, it's a very good CD. My initial wording on it was a little harsh and off the mark. It was always going to be so hard not to be a little let down after something as epic as 'Take it to the limit' is... but as it's own album this one is a great one. It'll probably still take home a top 3 finish in modern rock for me this year. Here's a quick first spin impression of the songs: 1. "2 Sides Of Me" ; pretty awesome hard rocking opener to be honest. I dig it. Big and heavy. 2. "All American Nightmare" ; another great hard rocker. Great opening combo, these two songs. 3. "What Ya Gonna Do" ; the album dips a little bit here with this very average ballad. Not what one expects from Hinder, who know their way around a ballad. 4. "Hey Ho" ; not too instant for me, but you have to admit it's pretty catchy and I dig the lyrics too. Just a good, fun anthemic hard rock tune. Not bad at all. 5. "The Life" ; absolutely marvelous. As good a ballad as any in their discography. Love it. 6. "Waking Up The Devil" ; the little youtube clip did not do this justice. Blaring through the speakers at volume, this is pretty awesome actually. Another gritty hard rock tune with a big chorus. Nice riffage. 7. "Red Tail Lights" ; another incredible ballad, with some nice subtle rhythm guitar and a massive chorus... Hinder at their absolute best. One of the tracks of the year for me. Nice little solo too. 8. "Strip Tease" ; wowser pants. If there is anyone on this forum who does not dig this tune I will ban them myself. What a killer, killer track. Awesome meaty riff, cool lyrics, catchy delicious chorus, even a nice solo. One of their best, most hard rocking tunes ever. An album highlight. 9. "Everybody's Wrong" ; ballad time again and another clear and outright winner. This one actually sends a few chills down the spine... another nice solo. I just love that chorus hook. 10. "Put That Record On" ; a little similar to 'Hey ho.' They can do better than this, but it's a fun round the camprife kind of closer. If there were 14 tracks and this was the last one I'd be a little more receptive, but I know they had better songs than this in their pile of 70. And there yo go... broken down like that it's actually a pretty awesome disc. Now you're talkin' mate! That doesn't sound bad at all anymore. I'm definately going for the deluxe-edition with two additional songs and some demos of album-songs! I like the fact, quite a few bands are writing a lot of songs to choose from (Crashdiet wrote around 50 songs for GW; Crazy Lixx around 25 for NR...), but I'd love to hear 'em all somewhere along the way and over 70 songs?? C'mon make at least a 12-tracker out of it!
  24. Received my copy today and gave it a couple of spins. It's definately a step back towards their 'rock'-sound and less 'metal' than Beg for it or Dreamin'. My first impression is mixed: The good songs on SYL are simply some of the best songs they've ever written (Guestlist, Last call for Alcohol, Bully come to mind), but unfortunately there are some weaker ones as well. A very nice album once again, but it doesn't top Crashdiet or Crazy Lixx for me. Overall, I'd place it as third or maybe second in their discography, with the ST still on top of the list.
