Shawn Phillips - Second Contribution

:drink: Bernd.

And it's back to 1970,back to the day when "dropping out" of everything was "groovy baby".The halcyon days when "free love" was err, free, but knowing my luck,I'd have to pay for it.Still, picture the scene, sitting cross-legged,wearing your fave "Peace Man" t-shirt with your "Ban-the-bomb" waistcoast on,strumming your cheap acoustic guitar, surrounded by the spliff-smoking,high-school drop-outs,claiming the sky was awash with "heaviness" and the spliff fumes would cleanse the "man".

Oh for a magic mushroom !!!!!!!!!

Hey, that was a 12-string guitar, mate !! ;)

Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning

:drink: Bernd.

Now it's back to 1973,when peace and lurrrrrrve was "morphing" into female-fronted folk-rock.When vocals were swirling and high-noted,long before Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, and the songs and instrumental breaks made songs by "Yes" look like 3 minute pop-songs.

Still,folk-rock-festival-tastic,in a very niche market type-way.

Idle Cure - 'Tough love' ; 3 songs in this already rocks a lot harder than 'Eclipse'. Good stuff so far, and not even any stupid christian lyrics yet!

Yes, nice disc, this one !

Yep, after that I spun 'Inside Out' and now '2nd Avenue'. I have no idea what Mark (and Matty-Boo too?) were going on about saying that 'Eclipse' is their heaviest CD. All three of these are good, proper 80's hard rock discs. 'Eclipse' is fine, but far poppier, imo, rather than good riff heavy rock. And thankfully these three aren't heavy on the christian lyrics at all either.

    • It's ok. I think people know I am a massive Crue fan, and I like a lot of stuff by them that people hate (the Generation Swine album for example) but the only newer original song I have cared about them in recent years was The Dirt. Everything else has been either meh or crap. I did also like their cover of Like a virgin, which I know a lot of peeps didn't like, so it's not like I am just craving the good old days. I would be happy if we could get a song close to Afraid, Saints of Los Angeles or the aforementioned The Dirt. I think songs like that will be few and far between sadly.
    • Have to agree. Although my expectations were that it would be absolutely horrible like Dogs of War lol. Still far away from classic Motley Crue but I at least made it all the way through this one so that's a positive. Still nothing to write home about but at least it rocks fairly well and there's a semblance of a song there.
