Goofy little splatter film that can be summed up in one sentence: "porn stars vs. cannibals." (I bet Geoff is interested now. Haha.)

 

A bunch of American tourists (including Jenna Jameson, Chasey Lain and Taylor Hayes) are taking a trip thru the Irish countryside when they meet up with a tribe of flesh chowin' inbred mutants who look like the members of GWAR. Stabbings, impalings, gore, bare boobs, and extremely bad acting follow.

 

Don't bother renting this one strictly for the porn gals, cuz they all have pretty small roles (except for aging '80s adult video queen Ginger Lynn, who plays the caretaker of the cottage our tourists stay at -- and who apparently keeps forgetting that she's playing an Irish woman in this flick, cuz her Irish accent comes and goes throughout the movie. Haha.) Absolutely ridiculous, but oh so much fun to watch.

 

Apparently this movie was supposed to be a totally over-the-top, out-and-out gore fest but it was subject to massive editing prior to release. There's still some blood and guts to be had but they're barely a hint of what might have been. (uncut versions of a couple of the gore scenes are included on the DVD as bonus features and yes, they are suitably yucky.)

 

But hey, if you've ever wanted to see a porn star get one of her silicon breast implants ripped out of her chest by an inbred cannibal mutant, this is your movie!!

Don't know how I missed this one... but sounds like a must, Keef! Seriously, sounds terrible but I have a feeling I'll need to see it at some point in my life.

I was waiting for you to chime in on this one, G. Take my advice: unless you have an extremely high tolerance for bad cinema (like me), this flick is a "renter" or a "Netflixer." I wouldn't bother buying it unless you find it REAL cheap. Though the breast-implant-ripping scene is worth whatever price you might pay. I can honestly say that was something I'd never seen in a movie before!!!

I was waiting for you to chime in on this one, G. Take my advice: unless you have an extremely high tolerance for bad cinema (like me), this flick is a "renter" or a "Netflixer." I wouldn't bother buying it unless you find it REAL cheap. Though the breast-implant-ripping scene is worth whatever price you might pay. I can honestly say that was something I'd never seen in a movie before!!!

Yeah, I must admit that the only way I ever happened upon 'Zombie Strippers' was that my mate bought it for me, and an event like that is probably the only way I'll see it. I hate those movies, but I'd try for the sake of the nude whores.

Tonight, I plan on watching Chernaya Molniya. The file I downloaded--yes, I downloaded it--apparently has poor subtitles, but every DVD copy is out of my region, and I don't speak Russian so it'll have to do. I've been wanting to see this for a while.

...on a stormy New Year's Eve in Detroit, a run down police precinct slated to be closed for good in the morning comes under siege from a crew of corrupt cops -- they want to kill a prisoner held in the precinct's cell block before he can blow the whistle on all of them in court. The small skeleton crew of "good" cops inside, plus a few other hangers-on and suspects, must band together to hold the fort against'em.

 

Haven't seen the original "Assault" since I was a kid so I honestly can't say how this remake compares against John Carpenter's version, but I enjoyed this one. Not a mind blower or a classic for the ages, but simply a good, suspenseful, shoot'em up/blow'em up flick.

 

I can take or leave Ethan Hawke as the troubled hero, but Laurence Fishburne was bad-ass as the "original gangsta" who's the hit squad's target and Drea DeMatteo of the "Sopranos," as the precinct's slutty secretary, looks nice in fishnet stockingss and a short skirt.

Huh. While I agree the remake was decent, although nothing I haven't seen before, I would like to see the original.

Okay, so I enjoyed the film--I really did. It was visually pleasing and well directed, but, as I had mentioned, the subtitles were bad. Actually, they were terrible. I was able to follow along, but I can imagine the same would not be said for many people. And to make it worse, about half way through, the subtitles came out of synch and were ahead of the dialogue. It became difficult to know who was saying what. Apart from that, I was still able to understand what was going on, and, most importantly, I was still able to enjoy the film. If I can find a copy in my region, I'd probably buy it.

-- if you've seen any of the "FD" series you know the drill by now: a group of annoying teenyboppers narrowly avoid being killed in a catastrophic event (this time it's an absolutely EPIC roller coaster crash at an amusement park) after one of them has a premonition about it. Shortly afterwards, the survivors start getting killed off one by one in a series of increasingly bizarre "accidents." Eventually the Final Girl and the Final Guy figure out "We were supposed to die! By not dying, we messed up Death's plan! Now he's trying to close the loop! We have to figure out how to stop it!" (dialogue like this, or something close to it, is in every "FD" movie)

Some inventive/cruel death scenes (esp. the opening roller coaster crash, the nail gun scene and the Paris Hilton wanna-be's who get roasted to death in their tanning beds) make this the best of the "FD" sequels.

Quite enjoyed this but, hard to beat the classic first two films.
