Guitarist and songwriter Steve Blaze adds the following:
"I believe the basic idea behind the creation of "From Womb to Tomb" has been in my head for many years. The time just needed to be right to express it. This album is a different type of concept record, whereas it does not contain a story-based theme. Rather, it is a timeline from the birth of a child to the ascension of the soul, with each song emphasizing a specific time of one's life and the lessons learned therein. These observations are based on my life and the witnessing of the growth and development of the human condition through my eyes. The wonderful part is that these life experiences seem to exist in each and every one of us, even though the paths and events may greatly differ. This is the most emotional and powerful music I have ever written, and by the reactions of the few people close to me who I have played it for, it will hit a deep and resounding chord with all those who hear it. I ask one thing: listen from the start to finish in solitude, with no distractions, as if you are reading a book or watching a movie. It is not a collection of 16 individual, nonrelated pieces. But instead, it is a complete work of highs and lows, colors and shades, and emotional fluctuations. It will take you through the light of our greatness and the darkness of our failures. The band performed with beautiful power and grace, and I feel it is our best achievement to date."

Lillian Axe are starting their support of the album with a full UK tour in August, their first there since 1993.

Dance of the maggots?!?!?

Those song titles and the album title really suck. Another slow and dreary release seems to be in the cards.

You’d think bands like this would try to please its long time fans.

Their first 4 releases are fucking classics and since they have released only a handful of semi decent tracks.

Where are the Show A Little Love's and All's Fair In Love And War's, etc.

Stevie steered them into the trash bin of music. Get Ron back and release a classic Lillian Axe album dammit.

I was thinking about these guys today as I tried to listen to the new album and stopped about 20-30 seconds into the first song.

As astute fans, if I'm not mistaken, we're probably all aware that this has been Steve Blaze's project, I believe, more or less, since day one. But a casual observer could easily be forgiven for thinking that Ron Taylor was the mastermind behind everything that made this band excellent. Because since he departed the band, not a single good thing has happened with Lillian Axe.

Instead, it looks like Steve Blaze picked up Dokken's 'Shadow Life' one day and thought wow, this is superb! I'm going to write and record songs exactly like this until the end of time.

Because Lillian Axe, to me, has been as bad as Dokken's 'Shadow Life' since 2007's 'Waters Rising.' That's six studio albums, if I'm not mistaken. All unlistenable. It is, by a long way, the steepest descent of any band in "our" genre and it's truly a sad thing.

Meh, i'm a fan of it all. Bands grow, evolve and that's a good thing. I'm not expecting the next "Show a little Love" any more than i'm expecting to fit the jeans i wore in 1989.

Ron has ZERO interest in being in a national touring band anymore. I've spoken with him several times, and he wants to be close to home and spend time with family and loved ones. So wanting him back is a moot point. I wish both bands success.

Having Ron Taylor in the band wouldn't make any difference whatsoever and I'd be amazed if anyone thought it would. As noted above, this has always been Steve Blaze's band and if Ron Taylor was back in the band he'd be singing these same dreadful songs. I'd personally hate for him to return to the band. He's left a magnificent legacy with the band and there's no sense at all in trying to tarnish that.

No one is after the next 'Show a little love' and I'm all for Steve Blaze doing what he wants to do. I don't care one bit if making this dreadful music is what makes him happy. I'd never want an artist to do something other than what they're passionate about.

There's no "solution" to any of this. I personally wish he hadn't continued the Lillian Axe name when he started recording albums again in 2007, but I understand why an artist would want to carry on a brand with which people are familiar.

Bands grow and evolve, and so do horrible diseases.

I think that's why Ron bailed in the first place. Maybe he saw the slow and dreary writing on the wall. Those last demos with Ron were all pretty dreadful songs that he lifted with his amazing voice. Some of those ended up on Water's Rising.

Until The End Of The World is the only post glory years track that I have on my Lillian Axe Spotify mix. It would have fit perfectly on Psychoschizophrenia.

I miss Ron. Those first 4 albums with him are some of my all time favs but you are right that it would not have been great to hear Ron having to sing these new songs.

Yeah, I think I have it somewhere too. Not sure where, though. I thought it was on 'Fields of Yesterday' but apparently not. Maybe I have some other demos somewhere? It's a decent song, and undoubtedly does Taylor's voice add a lot to it.
