Skärlet are a four piece band from Melbourne, Australia with an unrelenting emphasis on quality song writing and explosive live shows.

Back in 2014 Tommy-O , a carefree hard hitting yet technically proficient drummer from New Zealand, and Mitch O'Shea, a guitarist with a keen sense of melody and an uncompromising desire for perfection in music, crossed paths and instantly knew they were destined to be in a band together. The two shared an interest in creating their own brand of 80's influenced rock with a modern edge.

Shortly after, the two met Will Saw, a great bass player, an all round badass motherfucker and the best head of hair you've ever seen.

After a year of hard work in rehearsal studios writing, recording and perfecting songs, the group took on Axel Winter as their frontman who completed the bands lineup and brought his own brand of bitchin' high range screamin' and a sense of showmanship that would rival the great David Lee Roth.

Skärlet are currently performing on stages around Melbourne but will undoubtably be soon moving on to arenas around the world.

So strap yourselves in and prepare for one hell of a hell of a ride

It's gonna be wild!

Pick up the said disc on weekend off Tommy. I really digging it. Alex sang in front another band called Pegazus., but left them to concentrate more with Skarlet.

They have a very good sound, and it sounds very well produced. Very authentic late 80's / early 90's sound... but I'm not convinced by the actual song quality yet. Yeah, not sure on these guys... I want to love them but really not sure about these songs.

This was on my list somewhere too... probably well outside the 100 mark. It wasn't a bad album, but not memorable at all.

Agree with Geoff here....

Great sound, great production, great style... just lacking a bit with the songs. I found it to be very same-same from start to finish, with nothing sticking out, not enough variation. From memory, not even a ballad on the album.

In saying that though, still a great album. Just think with a bit of work on the songs it could become even better.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ordered this a few weeks ago. Does anyone know how long shipping typically takes from Australia to the US?

In the past anywhere from 7 days to 4 weeks.

Nowadays as Australia Post has gone to shit it takes a week to get anything within Australia, so I 'd be more at the 3-4week end of the spectrum.

Yeah. I agree. I live in Spain and it took around 4 weeks to get it to me.

I think on the bandcamp webpage there is a link to contact the band to ask anything if you have a problem.

    • I wonder what control they have over the releases? That have promoted the BMG individual releases. The 2009 reissues were by original label, EMI. And this boxset seems weird being issued by Cherry Red. And I have not seen the bands social media promote it at all. I wonder if the reason the BMG ones were lacking in the bonus tracks from the previous reissue was EMI holding onto the rights, but have now allowed Cherry Red to release them. I know EMI used to be the distributer for Cherry Red, so they may be more forthcoming with the material.
    • Yep, cracking indie release of which there are so many but this one is actually really good.
    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
    • Babymetal - Metal resistance Babymetal - The other one
    • Enjoyed their last cd "Human Nature" remind me of a mellower Black Stone Cherry, similar to Little Caesar.
    • BlackRain - Hot Rock Time Machine Lee Aaron - Bodyrock
    • Now theres a blast from the past  I'm lucky enough to possess
    • Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
    • Still awaiting mine to arrive...should've been on Weds  or according to my order that was the case anyway
