Personally I'd like to see Soundgarden in HH cause they are just another Zeppelin/Sabbath inspired hard rock band. Only thing they had in common with "grunge" is they were from Seattle. Well, so was Queensryche! Soundgarden have nothing in common with the punk of Nirvana, the garage rock of Mudhoney or alternative rock of Pearl Jam. Soundgarden are a classic rock band, like how Alice In Chains are a metal band. A case could also be made to include AIC, but I'd be happy to win on Soundgarden.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Soundgarden being included on HH at all 👍

AIC are over on BrutalMetal.com for your commenting pleasure 😎

I've always felt Judas Priest should be on HH not the BrutalMetal site. There are others on that site I'd love see move to HH. And a personal favorite album, "St. Paradise" (Derek St. Holmes and Rob Grange from original Ted Nugent lineup), it used to be on HH then just sort of disappeared.

No. Clearly heavy metal. Not "rock" in any way. Yes, it's "classic" but are we now adding Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Metallica, etc.?

I don't disagree, and a good debate, but bands like Accept, Saxon, Grim Reaper are on HH. All good, just glad we have some great sites to visit.

There's a fine line between metal and rock for a lot of bands but I must agree that if Accept , Saxon and others are on HH then why not a lot of other metal bands.....

To me brutal metal is death, black, speed and thrash metal but that is just my opinion....

Early 70s Priest I kinda agree as being more hard rock, but 80s was defo more metal, and everything from Painkiller onwards is pure 100% metal.

Brutal metal is just a name, and not reflective of it being one specific type of metal. Metal is metal no matter how soft or heavy.

I mean, Heavy harmonies is also just a name the encompasses various forms of hard rock. Doesn't mean all the bands featured have layered backing vocals etc. There has to be a cut off for everything. One site is metal the other is hard rock. Priest and Maiden are metal. Saxon I never classed as metal as their music was far more radio friendly. And Accept has stradled the line between genres. Especially when you think about the Eat the heat album. Nothing metal about that.

All the bands mentioned are metal bands imo. Even if they had a few songs or an album that was on the lighter side of things. It all comes down to each persons viewpoint as to what is heavy and what is not. I see the cut off line as blurred...

And Dans viewpoint is the one that counts at the end of the day. If he thinks something belongs on one site over the other, that is because his viewpoint. Same as if he decides a band does not belong on any of his sites.

Many years ago I put forward the idea of two bands. The Donnas and Bowling For Soup as in my opinion they are both melodic pop rock who owe more to 80s hard rock than the punk genre they often get labled with. He agreed The Donnas belonged, but BFS he did not think fitted. I felt that was a fair decision based on his viewpoint.

End of the day, we are all merely subjects kneeling at the altar of Dan.

I'm surprised that Volbeat aren't on the site.

They're on the "Brutal Metal" database.

People keep forgetting about Brutal Metal. It's an essential part of HH.

We have GOT to incorporate “Kneeling at the Alter of Dan” into the various poster levels here on the board! That is fucking GOLD!

Yeah, I actually didn't know they were in the brutal metal database.

Some artists are listed in both databases though, so I guess being in one database doesn't rule out being in the other?

There are some that straddle the line for sure.
