I find 'Hot for teacher' to be one, if not the most intriguing song of our genre. To me, it is utterly dreadful and the blueprint for the obligatory filler song that most 80's bands threw on their albums somewhere around track 9 or 10 to be skipped over. Any single band records that song without the videoclip and the memories and the fanfare, and it's completely ignored and skipped. I don't begrudge VH even a tiny bit for making an absolutely dreadful song something so iconic, but it's interesting to watch from the sidelines, as someone who just likes good songs for being good songs.

Which is actually very likely, considering what else Van Halen recorded. I don’t know the album well enough off the top of my head, but I’m 100% certain they’d manage to have more than half an albums worth of songs even worse than this.
