OH WOW! Awesome news! I was fearing this had been canned. So how are those two songs? Will listen to them tonight for sure.

Eric St Michaels on vocals - AWESOME. I probably said this in another thread, but he was my favourite vocalist with this band (even though the first 2 albums are easily their best). I really hope they deliver something awesome here.

Just gave the two songs a spin. I like 'Lonely Rider' despite it being a little bit average, but I don't like 'She's so hot' at all.

China will release a new album called "Light Up The Dark" in January 2010, 2 new songs (She's So Hot & Lonely Rider) are available for streaming now !

The new tracks from the "Best-of" cd (Girl On My Screen, Trapped In The City, Stay) has been "re-cut" and they are going to be included in the new album as well.

Nice. I never got around to getting those ones.

Seems a bit average to me...When the music catches my ears, then the lyrics have too much cheese...Have to say no...

Very slight change of subject... I had 'Sign In The Sky' on tape years ago and only really liked the title track and 'In The Middle of The Night'; the latter being the reason I bought the album, having heard it on Headbangers Ball. I was thinking about getting a 'best of' CD by China - do folks think it's worth it?

No. Those two songs and the majority of the bands debut disc (which was awesome, and which you need to own) are the only good songs this mediocre band have ever written.

Wow, totally disagree with that. I think the s/t and 'Sign in the sky' are both fantastic albums. So basically, James, if you didn't like 'Sign in the Sky' I wouldn't even bother with the rest of them because that's as good as they ever got, imo.

Something about this new album is leaving a bad vibe with me and I have a feeling it'll be a major letdown, but I'm still very much looking forward to hearing it. I heard it's a cross between 'Go all the way' and 'Natural Groove', which are undoubtedly their worst 2 albums, so we'll see how this goes.

From what I've heard, and this is one man's opinion, it goes not very well (pretty fucking bad actually).

I agree with Geoff that Sign In The Sky is as good as it gets.

Having looked at the track list again, I seem to recall liking 'Harder Than Hell' a bit and 'Animal Victim' quite a lot, so I'm wondering if I do need to get hold of the debut after all...

Give it another spin, mate. If you like those three songs I'm sure there'd be others on there you may have overlooked. 'So long' is a beautiful ballad and 'Second chance' is my favourite track on the CD - killer melodic rocker.

God you must be bored dredging up old threads ;-))

Sounds like a turkey so I'll pass............

Yeah I guessed this would be a turkey too. Not sure what it was that gave me that impression, but here's a hint: I already own a couple of this bands past albums.

    • I have learned not to assume these kinda releases are stand alone so I won't be buying the digital single, that's for sure. Been bitten with that one before. And if it does end up being standalone, well the digital single will still be available later. I don't like buying anything digitally, so only do it when there is no other choice.
    • Fairh In You - Jack Russell
    • Eclipse played that same game when Apocalypse Blues came out.  They dropped that song as just a single and made no mention of an album at that point as far as I remember.  All they were doing was selling the 7 inch vinyl.  We know now though that they clearly knew a full album was coming as Erik said they basically were working on both albums at the same time and deciding which tracks would go on each album.  Granted, maybe they didn't know the full timing of album #2 at that point but they certainly knew one was coming. Maybe the same here.  Maybe will trickle out a few songs and then announce an album later this year or early next year when it's closer to release.
    • So, Danny posted how the song is doing on Spotify and someone asked if this means a new album soon. Danny just made vague replies and said "well there will be more stuff coming soon"
    • Funnily enough, I read that this afternoon when I went to add the album to my collection on the main page. I got the European version which has two bonus tracks ... if you don't have them, you really aint missing anything
    • Faith in the Heartland-Journey
    • Created and Posted this video recently in order to promote Ryder SRIII a little more.  I love this song, one of my personal favs from the record.   Be careful viewing at work though (NSFW), just for a couple of images in the video.
    • Named my HH self after the song Auslander on the album Stain. Love that track. Really like the whole album. It's like Living Colour's "Slave to the Grind" or "Dog Eat Dog".
    • From Frontiers: TRACKLIST: 1 Awesome God 2 Stand Up 3 Warrior 4 There You Are 5 Speak His Name 6 Why God Brought Me Here 7 Praying 8 It's Up to You 9 Holy Moment 10 Leaning on the Cross 11 Jesus Christ --- When a musical family gets together to record, magic can happen and this is what the VAN ZANT’s are here for! Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001. Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007. Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
