  1. Nice song, and sadly one of the only really worthwhile songs on their final album. My favourite cut from the album, pretty easily.
  2. I heard 'Bombs And Battlescars' today and I'm a bit confused by it. Are the first 6 tunes new songs, and the others old demos? I was maybe a bit harsh on 'One Gun' initially, and I find myself not minding the first 5 songs, and 'Hang me out' is okay. 'Hogs' and 'All' are surely 'Inwire' leftovers and the last song I guess is a later attempt at recapturing the glory that 'Love don't live here anymore' brought them? Either way, it's not great. I like the sound and style of the new songs and more or less the production. A few of the songs could just use a little finesse, but not bad at all. 'Spellbound' is the stand out track, sadly, as a cover song. But I do like that one.
  3. For some reason, I don't think I followed up on this in 2020, but heard it today properly. Not a bad EP at all, and this tune was my favourite. Cool track with some nice riffage. I still echo what I said above... not bad.
  4. Not a bad album, but also a bit underwhelming, if I'm being totally honest. Favourite track is above and is named 'Where Do We Go From Here?' 'Nothing to say,' 'If Only For One Night,' 'New Life,' 'Dressed for success' (cover) and 'Everything Is Gone' are all nice tunes too. Don't love the faint "country" tinge I hear in the album's weaker tunes. But overall pretty solid.
  5. Night Rider - Night Rider 1 . Ruminate 2 . Collar 3 . Eyes of Luna 4 . Survive 5 . Nemesis 6 . Rearview 7 . Disaster (feat. Dana Willax of Kingdom Of Giants) 8 . Fearmonger (feat. Affiance) 9 . Cold War (feat. Ryan Kirby of Fit For A King) 10 . Antithesis 11 . Portals Really cool album, well worth checking out. I saw a write up somewhere suggest it was a mix of synthwave and post hardcore, but there's not much synthwave influence on here and it's not overly heavy either. Hard to pinpoint, but I like it a lot. Maybe like a more polished and less eccentric version of something like Blessed By A Broken Heart? Some of my favoured cuts; One of the weaker songs on the album, but a music video;
  6. Had to give this a spin today... too curious to do otherwise. Didn't like most of it, but the two songs above are a couple of the best, as well as this one; Overall I guess it's kind of okay. Didn't really do too much for me, though.
  7. Probably my favourite song from the album. It's okay in places, but not really my thing. Way too safe and by the numbers for me, personally.
  8. Another good new album. These guys are really consistent, I must give them that. It's kinda weird that there's still songs about Vext on this album... seems a bit long winded now, but that aside, the songs are generally all quite good. Like I said above, 'Legends Never Die' is actually one of the weakest songs on the album, but aside from that and a couple of others, the rest is all smooth sailing. Too many good tunes on a similar level to single out any standouts... just a good album. Bad Wolves - Die About It 1 . Intro 2 . Bad Friend 3 . Die About It 4 . Savior 5 . Hungry For Life 6 . Legends Never Die 7 . NDA 8 . Move On 9 . Masquerade 10 . Say It Again 11 . It's You (2 Months) (feat. KILLBOY) 12 . Turn It Down 13 . Set You On Fire
  9. A few more pretty solid new releases; American Arson - Sand & Cinder, Tide & Timber 1 . The Almighty Arsonist 2 . Low Tide 3 . Arrowheads 4 . The Heat I: Run 5 . The Heat II: Moonlight 6 . The Heat III: Goodbye 7 . Gaslight 8 . Hammer & Gavel 9 . Adversity 10 . Promises 11 . Blood Magnolia Park - Halloween Mixtape II 1 . The End: Emo Nite Rhapsody 2 . Antidote 3 . Breathing 4 . Do or Die 5 . Dreams 6 . Halloween Tip 1 7 . Haunted House 8 . Candles 9 . Dead on Arrival 10 . Halloween Tip 2 11 . Animal 12 . Loved by you 13 . Halloween Tip 3 14 . Life in the Usa 15 . Manic 16 . Halloween Tip 4 17 . Fell in Love on Halloween Straight Shot Home - The Reminisce Collection - EP 1 . Pendulum 2 . Developer 3 . Borrowed Time 4 . Everlasting Sun 5 . Reminisce Vampires Everywhere! - BELLADONNA 1 . The Dead Don't Sleep 2 . Cry Little Sister 3 . Ghost 4 . A Fire In The Atlantic 5 . Together In Death Youth Fountain - Together In Lonesome 1 . What Tomorrow Brings 2 . Requiem 3 . Fallen Short 4 . Identical Days 5 . Twin Flame 6 . Roses In My Backpack 7 . Clarity 8 . A Few Notes For Orpheus 9 . Patterns 10 . Haiku 11 . Breakneck Pace 12 . Together In Lonesome
  10. Was spinning their debut on Friday and just going through their videos now for a kick and thought I'd post them for fun in case someone shares my curiosity; And for what it's worth - I can't even remember this song, long, but I assume it's off 'Inwire'; I never realised they had so many singles (deserved) from that debut album. All the killer cuts too. I notice on wikipedia there is allegedly a video of 'Whisper in the rain' from 1990. I actually think that's a bit of a bland tune, but I'd be curious to see the video, mostly because it's from 1990. But I couldn't find that one on the Tubes.
  11. Maybe I'll give it another crack - at least see what's out there, properly. I'm not sure there'd be much of what you or Auslander above are suggesting, where I'm looking, but I should double check. Because to be fair, I've always had that part of my mind that never stopped thinking that way - eg. I buy Southern Sons and Rick Price CDs to maybe sell if I ever see them, and anything else that seems kind of "rare," even to a lesser extent. But yeah, I think in these pawnbrokers / charity shops, it does generally seem to be some really mainstream stuff. But maybe one more look is warranted. Also, just on your last point... you still scan stuff? Everything I list on ebay is always 100% just photos taken with my phone. I find it saves a tonne of time I used to waste on prepping auction pics. You ever considered that route? I also never use the stock images, but yeah, pics using your phone are the ticket for me, personally.
  12. Which is very easy to understand. You still have much luck with this, Dan? Assuming postage costs are similar in the US to what they are in Australia, I feel like we've been priced out of this sort of activity in Australia, sadly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I stopped bothering with this because of postage costs... and that was a long time ago! It's a hell of a lot worse now, today. But I will admit that recently I have been selling a lot of old magazines on ebay and although most of them are local sales - and those postage costs are still criminal - I do get the odd order from overseas, even with the insane postage costs. So I guess it's about being in the right place at the right time. When I think of the music you generally get from second hand CD stores outside of "our genre/s," it's all pretty typical kind of stuff. Stuff that's charted and sold well. At least that's what I see. Is there really any interest in that at all? I ask genuinely as I have boxes in my garage of CDs a friend gave to us, and I drive past at least five second hand shops during work every day, all with large CD collections they're basically giving away. But is there still value in taking the plunge to resell on ebay?
  13. Nice tune. They're a pretty decent band when they incorporate more clean vocals into their tunes. 'Standing Still' was one of my favourite songs of the year in 2021 off their 'Aurora' album.
  14. Haha, yep, I hate that kind of vagueness. I always think either say it, or just don't mention it at all. I assumed he might be talking about Nikki Sixx maybe getting his hands all over it and turning into his own project, but like you say, was it just another random producer? Reading these things aren't good for curious minds. Either way, both songs sound like pretty solid heavy rockers. On a side note, had no idea Bunton was such a prolific songwriter. He's certainly been around the traps throughout his career.
  15. I like that, a lot. Funny you mention BBABH on the last song because it was the first thing I thought of as I listened to the first two tracks too. Definitely appear to be heavily influenced by them, which is a good thing. I'll be sure to check out what I can from these guys. I assume all their early stuff is just full metalcore, but I'm curious about the 'Hyperactive' album from 2021 to see if that's any good.
  16. Not the reaction I was expecting in this thread, but I guess all y’all probably dig his full discography. As someone only interested in two of his albums, this one is a bit of a horror show for me, personally. Maybe about on par with my thoughts on new King Kobra album. 😬
  17. Lol. Well that’s one thing it’s got going for it, at least. Ten times better than King Kobra, imo.
  18. Not a bad tune. Big riffage... I don't mind it at all. Glad to see this one finally getting some kind of release date. Big sound.
  19. Yeah, I find it irritating but I do actually "get it." If you're putting your clocks back that means it's the end of daylight savings time there, innit? So you don't want daylight savings time at all, meaning your clocks would already be back that hour for the rest of time? Or you want permanent what we now call daylight saving time? Is that what y'all wish for? Anyway, I get daylight savings time when it happens, otherwise you'd be having 4:30am sunrises in the middle of summer. 7pm sunset would still be pretty decent, though. And permanent daylight savings time would mean sunrise at almost 8am in the middle of winter, for a 6pm sunset. That's a long dark morning, but I guess it's all relative. If it always was either one of those it would just be normal. Seems weird as it'd be abnormal to change now, but I guess you'd adjust to either one soon enough. But I'm curious about which one y'all actually want to keep? I'm assuming you actually want permanent daylight savings time, for the longer afternoon?
  20. New album just released; VRSTY - Levitate 1 . Fuck You Forever 2 . Back To Back 3 . No Chill 4 . Black & Blue 5 . Wide Awake 6 . Dangerous 7 . The Plug 8 . The Way It Is 9 . Doomed 10 . Kill The Rich (Feat. Andy Cizek) 11 . Glad You Came 12 . Powerless (Feat. Lexxe) 13 . Can You Love Me? 14 . The Feeling 15 . Levitate Love this one; A few other choice cuts; Just realised they're all the softer songs on the disc, but it's not a soft disc by any means. This is the album opener and more in line with what to expect from the album;
  21. Man this is an acquired taste well beyond my acquired taste buds. I just didn't enjoy this one single bit. I guess 'Take Me to the Light' is probably the most likely stab at something older melodic rock fans might still enjoy from this, but even that's still way off target for me. I'd trust that Jez is spot on with what his influences are on this album, which also explains why it's miles away from anything I could ever see myself enjoying. But I still need to give it at least one spin. Funnily enough, I spun this yesterday and was all like, how did I ever like anything from this dude, lol? But as fate would have it, going through my 1992 albums, I was going through the R's today and his debut came into my speakers. So many killer songs, reminding me why he at least deserves that quick peek in to see if he's doing something I don't hate again... but alas, he is not. I really dislike his voice, but for whatever it's worth, this is one set of vocal chords that seems pretty close to what it was 30 years ago... for better or worse.
  22. Yeah, this one's not a bad album. I'd need a time machine to try and figure out when Steve Overland was on an album this decent. Some nice AOR, and also a couple of ballsier moments that I was expecting too. It's not an album full of keepers for me, and I still wouldn't call it a complete home run, but it's a damn find stab at it. Favourite tracks would be 'Disconnected,' 'Together Alone,' 'Last Breath,' album highlight 'Really Makes You Wonder' and two fine closers in 'Under The Blood Red Sky' and 'Walk With Me.' Yeah, well above par in terms of recent output from Overland, which is nice to hear.
  23. Jeez, sadly, I just find this new album to be absolute garbage. They're so drowned out in noise and effects you just get no sense for the song anymore. I could sing half these songs and with the layers of effects and shit they put all over everything you'd barely be able to tell the difference between me and her. I guess this is what some of the kids do these days, but this is very nearly the last nail in the coffin for me even bothering with any new albums they put out. 'Damaged' was the closest discernible song I could find on here, but even that was a hard, hard pass. In This Moment - GODMODE 1 . GODMODE 2 . THE PURGE 3 . ARMY OF ME 4 . SACRIFICE 5 . SKYBURNER 6 . SANCTIFY ME 7 . EVERYTHING STARTS AND ENDS WITH YOU 8 . DAMAGED (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills) 9 . FATE BRINGER 10 . I WOULD DIE FOR YOU
  24. A softer moment from Hollow Front's new album is pretty nice;
  25. I really don't understand this project. They will end their musical career with the worst produced discography in musical history, I'm not even kidding. How they can be recording new albums that sound worse than their poor sounding debut in 2002 is absolutely well beyond me. For anyone counting, they just released another new album; Ferreira - Baby-7 1 . It's Alive! 2 . Sand Castles 3 . Can't Find The Words 4 . Bumpy 5 . On The Other Side 6 . Flame Still Burns 7 . Seven 8 . Second Row 9 . All Comes Back 10 . Can't Find The Words (Acoustic) -------------------------------------- Sadly, imo, it just sounds absolutely terrible - like a bad demo. Not even a good demo. The frustrating part is that every now and then they pen a decent tune like 'Can't Find The Words,' but it sounds like shit so there's no hope for it. I dunno, I truly don't get it. I don't think there's any excuse for recording an album that sounds this bad in 2023. Terrible.
