Captain Howdy

Been listening to this quite a few times since getting the EP yesterday and it suddenly dawned on me how he has changed the perspective of most of the lyrics. Instead of warning someone about the Phantom he is warning them about himself.

I'm not really a fan of symphonic style metal/rock but I recently picked up Unforgiving (yeah bang up to date) on the strength of Faster, and absolutely loved it. Trying to work out whether its worth picking up more of their stuff. Weirdly, I actually saw them live back in 2012 (I think it was) supporting Halestorm and didn't even realise it til recently.

I knew about the concept of the video a few weeks ago with the women replacing the band, but Rob told everyone who knew that we had to keep it quiet Hadn't heard the song though, and it's a belter.

I'd never heard of him til he did the Dirty Shirley project, and most times people compare a vocalist or band to someone else I always take it with a pinch of salt, but when George Lynch said he is the love child of David Coverdale and Ronnie James Dio it was not a pinch of salt I took it with, but a whole handful ... then when I heard him I was like "Fuck me, George nailed it". It's amazing how one minute he does indeed sound like Cov, then the next he is Dio. This is much better than Dirty Shirley though. Nice and heavy.

I had no idea they were even a thing again, and it appears I missed out on their "reunion" album a few years ago. To be fair, not exactly a massive fan anyway, but did bye the first three albums when they were reissued by Wounded Bird.

I like Def Leppard and I like orchestral scores. This tho does nothing for me. The mix seems horrible to my ears with the orchestral part way too loud and sometimes drowns the vocals out. I will wait for this to drop in price before I even consider buying it.

And surprise surprise, Heavens Edge was sposed to arrive today (even though it came out last week) and it's not even shipped as they have had "issues". That's it, no more Frontiers releases from Amazon.

I cannot be arsed with websites or reviews, I get most of my info through social media and here. Following record labels like Frontiers will always keep me up to date with their releases. Following bands that I like will often lead to recommendations for bands I have no knowledge of, especially on YouTube. What really pisses me off on YouTube is that even as an old fucker, I am tech savvy enough to use the internet to find what I want from music, yet you see these comments on YouTube videos all the time with people posting shit like "Why are there no 80s style bands anymore" or "They don't make music like this anymore". These people make zero effort to find music then just piss and moan that the music does not exist anymore. I don't expect them to find websites like this and become members, but I like to think that even if this website did not exist I would still be able to find loads of new bands just by social media and YouTube alone. Said this before on here, but while there are guys on here that a far more active in finding new bands, there have been several times I have found bands that people do not know about on here. It's not hard, so why do some people just want everything spoon fed to them rather than make an effort to find what they claim to want to hear?

I was gonna post this yesterday, but didn't really think there was much interest in them here. I really did not like the new version of sick sex that they did as really did not think his vocals worked with that track, but this is much better.
