  1. the usual hilarious comment. A Clown. I fell about laughing aswell, but in pity. I know, I pity anyone who thinks there's any properly decent music from this era too, but we'll get by. Oh dear, that's a very lonely opinion you have there mate.....I would doubt there's even one person on this site who would agree with that comment whether you talk AOR or metal. I mean, come on - AOR were the golden years with arguably the best albums from Journey, Aviator, Touch, REO, Le Roux, New England, Toto, Nightranger, Asia, Magnum....and some great UK bands like Wildlife, Charlie etc And in terms of metal, Dio, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Triumph, AC/DC, Maiden, Y&T, MSG....hell it was probably THE era. Nuff said. To be completely honest I don't really listen to anything before about 1986/1987 either. With a few outstanding exceptions (like Touch/Toto) I just don't really like anything to sounds that dated, though I do respect that it was the golden age for AOR & Heavy Metal. And I'm quite a bit older than Geoff too... I reckon that half of my top 20 all time list is from those bands I mentioned from that period.
  2. Yeah and where are that famous band 'God Made Me Funky' I want to know?? The pain, the pain indeed mate - Were talking some classic Canadian bands here. Sven Gali released one very average disc, followed by a completely awful steaming pile of shite 2nd disc. They should bow at the boots of all these bands IMO. Check some of these band out instead of ruining your ear drums Backed 1000%. Even the stupidly over-hyped Sven Gali debut was stunningly average & bargain-bin material, & the second album was a waste of time. They are not in the list above for the simple reason that they don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as bands like Honeymoon Suite/Harem Scarem/Boulevard etc.... Backed......I own the sven gali disc but havent played in say 15 years or whatever.
  3. OK , I have re-listened to this and have to go with Hallowed Be Thy Name........but only by a whisker over The Prisoner. To be honest tho they are all great (excepy maybe Gangland?).
  4. Harem Scarem for me..........one of my fav bands. But Triumph & Boulevard are also great.

  7. For the best adaptation its gotta be Superman. 1977 - the original and prob still the best. Has there ever been better casting than Christpher Reeve as Superman?? Me thinks not.

  19. Just get Place Vendome and all will seem right with the world. If it's even half as good as the first album I'll love it.... truth be told..........its better. Backed. A lot better, I'd actually have to say. Mmm, pretty close - I listened to the 1st one earlier and it is still a great album. Cross The Line, Magic Carpet, Right Here Right Now, Too Late, I Will Be Waiting, Sign Of The Times.....all stunning in my book
