  1. 3or 4?? 1or2 you mean lol. I thought it was pretty drab to be honest.
  2. Journey - 'tantra' (simply stunning)
  3. Again........ Umming and Ahhing about this one mate - any good? I thought the first one was good in spots, without blowing my socks off. Jez.It's very good,if un-spectacular.Sounds good, and more accessible than the first, but knowing you,it's a Euro-h/r album that you'd like but........ N/p Paul Young - Chronicles I wouldn't bother - only 2 really good songs - the rest is just solid if unspectacular melodic metal. Definitely plods in places too :-(
  4. i agree wes, heard the album week ago and I'll say it's a good album on first spin, though I'm not entirely sold to purchase this instantly, maybe if I stumble upon a cheap copy later, but interested to explore more I think it's really good and should be a must for Rainbow/Whitesnake and PC69 fans. Backed - great album!

    Edguy

Rocketride & Hellfire Club are the only 2 worth having IMO. Both excellent albums.

I've heard most of the album today and I have to say that I am stunned by the sheer brilliance of some of these songs! Just to mention a few - 'Tantra' & 'To Whom It May Concern' are both excellent ballads. Everything about these songs is perfect. Pineda sounds amazing and the solos are just inspired. This leads me to this comment : would Perry have sounded any better on this album? The answer pure & simple is no! What Pineda has done here on this album is prove what a world class vocalist he is - quite simply an awesome performance from beginning to end. But there is no doubt that this is Schon's album. He fought for these songs - and they are guitar songs - every opportunity there is another amazing solo. There are still some big albums to come this year but they are going to need to be bloody good to touch this - totally blown away and then some. Looking forward to many more spins and can't wait to have the original in a few days!! Cheers
  7. Backed. This has the potential to be HUGE, esp with the WET songwriters involved. As you say that first sample sounds KILLER!! V excited.
  8. Yeah, the new Destrophy CD is pretty much hard rock rather than modern... either way it's brilliant. Very happy with the way modern rock is going this year. Better than HH-style melodic rock so far. Very disappointing overall last year - a lot of consistently good CDs, but so few standout tracks. Already some absolutely brilliant discs full of standouts in 2011. Yeah Destrophy is defo hard rock through and through....nothing modern in there whatsoever IMO. Im struggling to agree with that second comment. HH style has been great so far this year, and arguably all the best releases are still to come :-) What with Farcry, Journey, Night Ranger & Lionville etc all due in the next few weeks and later in the year Work Of Art, Toby Hitchcock (that first sample sounds AWESOME!! Much heavier than I was expecting from him!) etc I think that HH style will trounce modern again just like it did last year. IMO.
  9. Full album due August (I think)......
  10. chorus & solo = yum http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVLd5KTBE40
  11. youre not alone.....ive heard (most) of it.....but only once so no real firm opinion yet. On holiday next week tho so will try to give it another spin np Within Temptation - The Unforgiven Scheepers - Locked in the Dungeon
  12. Reece/Kronlund - Solid Dynazty - Knoock You Down
  13. That long, really??! DOH. Had hoped this would hit a lot sooner. Looks like you can add the following - Baton Rouge - TBC (well according to Kelly Keeling's facebook page anyway) :-)) Looks like Frontiers eye-ing to market Toby's disc with Work of Art and Night Ranger, probably a great timing for AOR market, the leak could be out sooner than we thought, i'll keep watching Baton Rouge is a surprise, didn't know Kelly is working on it, hopefully it'll be a great one am a big fan of Tesla and i'm lookin' forward to this one as I'm also very fond of their Five Men jam. Will be awesome if they also play some new songs in acoustic rendition, interesting but yes i've also read that they will have a new full-length studio album coming out, but probably very late this year, or probably early next year btw, WORK OF ART's new album looks like will be titled 'In Progress', but nothing's confirmed yet Very apt title that for WOA ;-)
  14. BUT I do absolutely agree with these sentences, which should have most readers of this site salivating......... Cry Havoc isn’t a metal album…at all. It’s a straight forward, no-nonsense and no frills arena rock record Instead they’ve been replaced with boat loads of late 80′s inspired guitar work, airy keys and enough super sweet melodies Nice.........and spot on. Cheers
  15. lol, yeah great review - I particularly agreed with his opening paragraph! NOT!!!!! There is no denying that bands change their style and sound all the time. Some do it because it’s just the natural progression of a true artist. Some do it to keep up with the changing times and some do it due to label pressure or sadly their own monetary gains. Personally, I don’t care what you do as long as you perform at a high level and still write quality songs that people are able to enjoy (i.e. Metallica, Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots and Incubus to name only a very select few). Never has a statement been further from the truth IMHO. But hey ho.

    Happy bday - enjoy!
  17. Well the good news is they found a better producer (assuming you like an ultra-slick sound), the bad news is they pissed their original sound up the wall for bland sugar-sweet modern rock. I loved how their debut combined heavy modern metal with some anthemic choruses, but these days they're about as heavy as ALL TIME LOW or FALL OUT BOY. Every song sounds like the one before and any metal/punk leanings, as well as the heavy-as-hell bass and downtuned-guitar is all gone totally. I do like modern rock, but it has to sound fresh & original rather than dated and plodding, and these mid-tempo tunes bore the life out of me. You got the same album as us lol??! I love this album. Every track is awesome for me. Hardly modern at all....more kick arse melodic hard rock?? Sums up why I don't like it mate, sounds like that Taking Dawn thing all you guys seem to like. When you first put me on to this band they sounded like a mix of Slipknot and SOTY but they seem to have gone backwards. I'll take the new HINDER over this... Yeah the sound has changed a fair bit from the debut, but the transition was on the cards when they re-released the debut with a few extra tracks the other year - all the new tracks were far more in this styling. I really liked the debut, but if Im honest my favourite track was by far 'The Way Of Your World' so Im personally thrilled they have gone the more melodic route. Also, not sure where you get the 'plodding mid tempo' reference from - most of these songs kick arse...in a major way IMO. Great anthemic melodic hard rock. Certainly not modern in any way IMO
  18. Mate, I enjoy them all. Still haven't found a truly great song on any of the 4 releases, but all 4 are very good and this one is no different. 'My Angel Wears White' is awesome IMO! A natural follow on from 'Angel In Black'. np Dynazty - Knock You Down Destrophy - Cry Havoc

  20. Great album.Wasnt it written by the guys who did the Vega CD?. Correct, the majority of the songs were written by the Martin brothers and since they have been tied up with Vega, I doubt we will see anything further from Khymera this year. Would love to see a new album tho as The Greatest Wonder was great IMO. Cheers
