  1. If you happen to know the season and/or episode of FNL that snippet is from, you've got a good chance of finding it here: http://www.tunefind.com/show/friday-night-lights Sounds darn interesting....
  2. I'd rank 'em like this.... Hollywood Vampires - Far and away my fave! Cocked and Loaded LA Guns Waking the Dead - One of the best efforts from an old "hair band" in the last 10-15 years Tales From the Strip Hollywood Forever Man in the Moon Wasted - Only 6 songs featuring Steel Panther's vocalist, but I dig it Vicious Circle Shrinking Violet - not terrible, just didn't really sound like LA Guns American Hardcore - Probably one of the ten worst CDs in my collection
  3. So if I'm reading everything correctly at the link provided, Lonnie is on 3 years probation, not allowed to possess a firearm, and his current salary is being garnished 10% each month towards a total restitution amount of $50,000! The payments are going to a Federated Mutual Insurance Company. Hmm.... if you look at the types of things they insure, I wonder if ol' Lonnie got busted for selling parts from the auto dealership for which he worked, as well as defrauding his customers aka victims via Amazon, eBay, etc... https://www.federatedinsurance.com/ws/fi/InsuranceProducts/PropertyCasualty/index.htm
  4. R.I.P. James showed a passion and enthusiasm for music/collecting that I can only imagine. We used to talk quite a bit about rarities and their values; I think I still have quite a few of those PMs in my inbox. Gonna read thru them later tonight, drink a beer, and listen to a few rarities in his honor. :-(
  5. Dokken's "Broken Bones" (2012) over Scorpions "Sting in the Tail" (2010) for me. ;-)
  6. Yep, CD-R only put together and sold at the band's 2004 reunion show. I couldn't make the show, but did manage to get a disc and T-shirt from Rob & Kasey Martin. :-) *You can't really see it in the pic, but under "All of the music" it also says "None of the Hair"
  7. Was the Theatre re-issue silver pressed or was it a CD-R. This is one that I asked about on their facebook page and they never responded. A friend of mine received his and it actually is a silver-pressed CD. Yep, I picked up the Theatre re-issue as well; silver pressed.
  8. "The Blacklist" is easily the best new show of the season; Spader plays Red with a nonchalance that is kinda unsettling when you see him carry out deeds like he did on this week's episode.
  9. I know this was addressed in a thread or two earlier this year, but in case anyone missed it: http://www.melodicrock.com/phorum52/read.php?1,944362,944362#msg-944362 Of particular interest, the last post in the thread: http://www.melodicrock.com/phorum52/read.php?1,944362,945905#msg-945905 And for the cherry on top, his GEMM store has been updated TODAY: http://www.gemm.com/c/search.pl?&table=sellers&seller=GMV301315&view=WELCOME He's either just fired it up again, or has done no transactions there. Either way, it looks like he's on the prowl again.

There seems to be something going on. I used the retrieve password feature at appx. noon today (just testing it), and have not received anything as of yet at my Yahoo email (regular inbox or SPAM folder).
  13. Got this one in the mail yesterday and have been listening to it pretty much non-stop. A damn fine effort IMO, and will most likely be my fave METAL release of 2013 (not sure if anything else is scheduled for release this year with even a remote chance of topping this one).
  14. Stay classy Wal-Mart.... http://money.msn.com/business-news/article.aspx?feed=AP&date=20131017&id=17011818&ocid=fbmsn Wal-Mart worker: Fired for helping assaulted woman HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A Michigan man says he was fired from his job at Wal-Mart after he tried to help a woman being assaulted in the parking lot of one of the retail giant's stores and ended up fighting with her attacker. Kristopher Oswald told WXYZ-TV in Detroit (http://bit.ly/18qGyBh ) that Wal-Mart has policies against workplace violence to prevent employees from assaulting co-workers or tackling a shoplifter, but that it appears that nothing allows for them to assist in situations of imminent danger and self-defense. A spokeswoman for Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. told The Associated Press on Thursday that while the company understood Oswald's intentions, his actions violated company policy. "We had to make a tough decision, one that we don't take lightly, and he's no longer with the company," company spokeswoman Ashley Hardie said. Oswald, 30, said he was in his car on his break about 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he saw a man grabbing a woman. He said he asked her if she needed help and the man started punching him in the head and yelling that he was going to kill him. Oswald said he was able to get on top of the man, but then two other men jumped him from behind. Livingston County sheriff's deputies arrived and halted the fight. Oswald said the Hartland Township store's management gave him paperwork saying that "after a violation of company policy on his lunch break, it was determined to end his temporary assignment." Oswald had worked for Wal-Mart for about seven weeks and said he would not have been considered a permanent employee until after his 180-day probation. "The last thing I expected was to not have a job," Oswald said.

  16. BREAKING NEWS from Tom Scholz' basement: More than 10 years in the making, BOSTON's new studio album, "Life, Love & Hope" is ready for release! Finally emerging from his Hideaway Studio II, Tom Scholz says, "These are songs from the heart, each of them taking many months of effort to write, arrange, perform and record, always up to the demands of BOSTON's harshest critic, me. They have all been meticulously recorded to analogue tape on the same machines and equipment used for BOSTON's hits for the past 35 years." Available on December 3 on Frontiers Records, this album includes lead vocals from Brad Delp, Tommy DeCarlo, Kimberley Dahme, David Victor, and Tom Scholz, and features tracks with the classic BOSTON sound, as well as the latest in the evolution of Scholz' musical artistry. "I intentionally stayed close to the early BOSTON style on some of the songs, even using the same amps and instruments; on others I let my imagination run wild," says Tom. All the tracks have the characteristic BOSTON trademark guitars, harmonies, and immaculately-crafted sound. Tom worked very hard to fulfill the expectations of BOSTON fans new and old, and has created a diverse yet cohesive album that truly has something for everyone.
  17. http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/metal-church-generation-nothing-title-track-available-for-streaming/ The reunited METAL CHURCH — Ronny Munroe on vocals, Kurdt Vanderhoof and Rick Van Zandt on guitars, Steve Unger on bass, and Jeff Plate on drums — will release tenth studio album, "Generation Nothing", on October 22 via Kurdt's label Body Of Work Recordings in conjunction with Rat Pak Records. "Generation Nothing" track listing: 01. Bullet Proof 02. Dead City 03. Generation Nothing 04. Noises In The Wall 05. Jump The Gun 06. Suiciety 07. Scream 08. Hits Keep Comin' 09. Close To The Bone 10. The Media Horse The "Generation Nothing" title track can now be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. According to Vanderhoof, "Generation Nothing" — which was recorded at Kurdt's English Channel studio in Washingtion — marks a "return to [METAL CHURCH's] classic metal sound. It has elements of the first album and 'The Dark', but still embraces the new sound of the band without chasing the past." Munroe said in a recent interview with Metal Assault that the new METAL CHURCH effort would contain material that is "very reminiscent of the old days with some stuff that's very 'now.'" He added: "There's a bit of… I'm not going to say 'prog' because it's not, but there's a couple of elements in there that are a little bit progressive. For the most part, out of this batch of songs, they really sound more reminiscent of the early days than anything we've done before with this lineup. This excites me very much, and I think the fans are really going to dig it." Regarding the circumstances that led to METAL CHURCH's breakup in 2009, Ronny said: "Well, in a nutshell, without going into a huge and long story here, it was certain aspects of things that had continued to happen to the band throughout its career. Not having the proper management and the proper people in place that were handling us. You know, we ended up taking some shows we shouldn't have taken and that just led to where Kurdt was really getting fed up and then we all kind of got that way. Basically, we figured before we end up disbanding because of other reasons such as maybe starting to fight with one another or whatnot, we decided to go ahead and end it then. We all ended up friends and we wanted to keep it that way. So I won't go into specifics, but we all know what the music industry is like now compared to what it was like back then. We just didn't have the right people in our camp." Asked what the band is going to do differently this time around to avoid falling into the same trap, Ronny said: "This time around we're going to release this next record on Kurdt's label. Basically, Kurdt and the band and whatnot are taking a lot more control of the situation. Yes, maybe the downloading thing is even worse than 2009, but also on the other hand, if you know what you're doing and you use the Internet correctly, you can actually have success.Kurdt's been doing that with his prog band PRESTO BALLET and whatnot. In this day and age, the time is right to go and try something on your own. If it doesn't work, you can always end up going out and searching for a label or something. We're going to take a shot at it and see what happens and I think we're probably going to have some decent success."

Here's what "swimming against the current" gets ya: http://www.sfbg.com/politics/2013/08/09/bay-area-walmart-employees-say-they-were-fired-retaliation-striking WalMart could care less about any penalties or lawsuits they could case face over wrongful termination; they'd rather pay lawyers and fines than pay their employees.
  20. Around here, the only way you're getting a job at the Post Office is if someone retires or dies, and then you still have to know someone on the inside to have a prayer of getting hired.
