  1. Seems to mainly stem from finanacial issues and from what can be read into it, the other members probably felt like Tate had TOO MUCH control over what the band was doing both musically and financially (especially with several of his family members involved with band operations); everything just finally boiled over. Here's an interview with Geoff Tate from June 2012 giving his side of things: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/qa-geoff-tate-on-queensryches-ugly-split-backstage-brawl-in-brazil-102316/ And then here's the other side from the other members: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/remaining-queensryche-members-accuse-geoff-tate-of-financial-wrongdoing-violence/ DeGarmo leaving in 1998 was the beginning of the end musically (IMO anyway) as the releases after that became darker and way less melodic, with only the occasional exception (song wise). I know alot of people really like the band now, with LaTorre on vocals, and the recent releases, but it's all I can do to get through them. The muscianship is top notch, the vocals are great, but there's just something missing... the songs just aren't memorable to me. I've listened to The Verdict on and off for the last week, and can't remember a single chorus. The only reason I picked The Verdict in this poll is because The New Reality by Tate's Operation: Mindcrime is DREADFUL. At least on the releases prior to that one, you could count on 2-3 decent songs on a Tate release, and his stuff is definitely more melodic than what Ryche has been doing... to my ears at least.
  2. First up, getting ready for their new release which should arrive tomorrow... Bloodbound - War of Dragons Followed by... Savatage - Sirens / The Dungeons Are Calling
  3. I figure I know how this one is going to go, but I'm doing it anyway for shiggles... Starting with Tate's first solo effort in 2002 through the recent Operation: Mindcrime and Queensryche discs; which do you prefer?

  5. Here is a list of hard rock / AOR CCM discs that I would reccomend to anyone wishing to checkout the genre (outside of Stryper/Michael Sweet obviously ) As for the "preachiness" of the following CDs, I guess that's in the ear of the beholder... 6. Tesla - Shock To be followed by... Buckcherry - Warpaint
  7. What he said! But seriously, Outlaw Son was the biggest surprise of 2018 for me; I was simply blown away by how good it is, and as Geoff said, it is consistent from start to finish. One of the best songs from 2018:
  8. He did an entire tribute album, with one original song, "Song For Ronnie James" : https://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=1043&CDName=Dio
  9. They released an official video for Blood of the Levant today:
  10. Which of the various Dio inspired releases do you enjoy the most? My pick is Resurrection Kings - S/T
  11. It's been 30 years since their debut "Surprise Attack" and 27 since the follow-up "Wild America" (my fave of the two)... I don't know about you all, but I don't have the same energy I had 30 years ago either. I think it's merely a case of the guys being a little more mellow and less "hungry" 30 years on if you will. Still, I enjoy a handful of the songs on the disc, with Sons of Zebedee, Silence the Sirens, Lights Up the River , and Rose of Jericho being my faves.
  12. I enjoyed their 2016 debut "Heavy Crown", but wasn't blown away by it by any means. I've listened to "II" quite a bit since receiving it Friday, and find myself enjoying it more with each listen... a "grower" if you will.
  13. Really enjoying this one. I actually ordered their debut, Seize the Night on the strength of the samples from TDPOM and got it a few days earlier. Been digesting both. The debut is good, but TDPOM is excellent!
  14. China - The Very Best of... With Child's Play - Long Way on deck
  15. Earlier today... Last in Line - II and Rain or Shine - The Darkest Part of Me and now... Tora Tora - Bastards of Beale
  16. Actually.... All kinds of people did a version of this one evidently...
  17. An alternate version of Ramsey Lewis - Love Will Find a Way ? Lyrics: Are you feeling down and lonely? Feeling like you can't go on? Just remember love will find a way Tell me, are you going through changes Time seems like it's passing by Just believe that love will find a way I see the tears you cry I see the pain that's in your eyes So many times you were so lonely And no one seemed to care But if your hopes for your tomorrows Are drowning in your sorrows Know your heart will show you the way Are you trying to find a beginning Something just to hold on to? Always know that love will find a way, yeah Is it hard this life you're living? Does the world seem so unkind? Don't you worry, love will find a way Some say we've lost our way Some say the world has gone astray If you know where you are going There is nothing you can't do 'Cause problems will come And they will leave you The world will try to deceive you But the truth will always be in your soul Some say we've lost our way Some say the world has gone astray But if you know where you are going There's nothing you can't do 'Cause problems will come And they will leave you The world will try to deceive you But the truth will always be in your soul Do you want some joy in your time? Are you trying to find some peace of mind? All you need to know is love will find a way Do you want some joy in your time? Are you trying to find some peace of mind? All you need to know is love will find a way Do you want some joy in your time? Are you trying to find some peace of mind? All you need to know is love will find a way Do you want some joy in your time? Are you trying to find some peace of mind? -------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, it was written by Lionel Richie:

  22. Hey man, it's all Dokken, so it's cool. I totally understand why some people prefer the slightly lighter, more "pop metal" sound of UFTA and ULAK over the others... both are GREAT albums as well. Other than Shadowlife and Don's second solo effort, Solitary, I look at all the Dokken releases pretty favorably.
