  1. HAHA - my bro didn't even ask me how to do it. Dude , you can upload them to the Retro site and post a URL to the sample. LOL. I will post a pic of the '7' disc as soon as I can. If you need help selling discs GLAM_JUNKIE , I can help and I would charge less than Ebay! Incidentally , thanks to JOE , I just signed a walloping number of bands from the Milwaukee area that I didn't even know existed. And they kick serious ass! One of them even has the bassist from NITRO in it. Anyways...the following pure Hair Metal bands just got a contract today...(all from the glory years of 1988-1992) FIRING SQUAD HIGH TREASON FORTRESS KING'S RANSOM MODEL CITIZEN these bands will join fellow Milwaukee bands on the label: MEGATON BLONDE PROBLEM CHILD CUT THROAT (to be released in July). Who knew there were so many great bands from Milwaukee??? Just wished I would have scored the fantastic MOXY ROXX too!
  2. I have done some of those "diamond" cd-r's and they CAN actually look pretty good. And it certainly saves space and money. Hell , most of the cd's you get from CD Baby are cd-r's. But whatever , we've had this discussion before. Some bands are definitely worth silver-ing and other bands who only have a 4 or 5 song EP aren't but I still feel the music should be out there. I heard the new Kidd Havok and wasn't overly excited about it and Joel is a pain to deal with so I don't think Merri Hoax is going to be Retrospect bound.
  3. Steve does NOT want to deal with Joel - trust me on that. I have never purchased anything from Demon Doll... so you guys are saying that their products are ALL cd-r?
  4. Mullethead , I assume you are referring to the EYES cd. While I have never denied selling boots , I would certainly let you know if you asked. I make a point to list RUSSIAN PRESSING next to the ones that are made there.
  5. Sanchez practically begged me to sign them but I TOLD THEM SPECIFICALLY that the album was not nearly good enough. I told them they needed to re-record it and listen to other Swedish bands like Wig Wam and CrashDiet to understand what kind of quality they need to churn out. I guess they didn't listen....
  6. Thanks so much for your input. We've really been trying to put more effort into the booklets and such and I think the MAJORITY of what we have done in the last 2 years has been better than our "beginnings". I always thought PRETTY BOY 'Metro Sessions" was a freaking excellent album and yes , it's been sold out for a couple years now. Nobody had ever emailed me to ask if I was going to re-print it but I think it definitely is time. Friction / Rock Boulevard expanded editions is something I am working on....if those guys would ever email me back!!! Ummm... what else? Oh yes , so we are going to do this massive expansion in July which will include a mailing list (we've needed to do this forever) and a VIP members 'club' which will give members the opportunity at first dibs for new releases as well as coupons / discounts , for a small yearly fee. We are definitely going digital..so people will have the option to download cd's directly. And yes , the used cd section of the website is doing quite well but could do better - I hope many of you check it out periodically as the majority of what I am putting up is my private collection which is reasonably priced I think. What I haven't done yet is sold off my holy grail of the rarest indies on the planet...I've kept those as my nest egg but I have hundreds of rare cd's sitting here that will eventually go. Without a doubt , the rarest cd in my collection is a fantastic Christian AOR gem from 1987 called simply '7'. Yes , '7' self-titled. I have never seen it ANYWHERE , EVER and it's almost as good as the Mastedon material. I would be shocked if that didn't fetch $1000+ but maybe I'm too optimistic. Has anyone else ever heard of that or seen it around? I have hundreds of discs like that and I've been extremely reluctant to sell those off. Incidently , the website is now getting consistently between 800,000 to 1,000,000 hits per month (I know , not nearly as much as HH but respectable) and I have been considering allowing other private sellers to have their own page dedicated to selling their stuff. Do think this is a good or bad idea and would you consider paying say $50 per year to flog your discs? If anyone is interested in doing this , please let me know. You know , I don't give kudos enough sometimes where it is due , and I just want to say that although we had a rough start , DAN you are to be well-respected my friend. HH is one of the top sites in the world for OUR music and I don't nearly give you enough credit for your hard work and determination to keep it running...so just know , that even if I am flaky and have some flaws in my world...HH is just an amazing place to be and I'm glad we could put a lot of our B.S. behind us. I don't ever expect you or anyone to trust me 100% but you have always given me a second chance (or third) and I'm glad you did see the good in my intent. I would urge people reading this to donate $5 or more to the maintenance of this website as I will shortly. What's $5? For HH , COME ON GUYS!!
  7. Hey guys - after 5 years of being this business I really don't feel I get enough feedback from the fans. There are some big changes and happenings coming to the Retrospect front. My question to you is this: If you please , could you let me know what , in your opinion , the best 3 Retrospect releases have been so far. Thanks for your input...
  8. What we are doing is something that has never been done before in the history of the music industry. We will be releasing the most albums ever in a single day. It's going to be an extremely difficult task , but me and my brother wanted to do a huge push digitally to see how that would fare. If there is enough interest in some of the releases , they will be pressed accordingly. Like most of you , we still believe in physical product , but we are very interested to find out how many people would actually download before physical release (if there even will be one). On another exciting note , Retrospect has just signed FIONA FLANAGAN . and will be releasing her long-awaited comeback album very soon. The album features Bobby Messano , Tommy Denander , Robin Beck and was immaculately produced by the legendary Paul Sabu. Rock on guys!
  9. Hello everyone - I'd like to begin by thanking everyone for the massive success of the 5th Anniversary Sale we had in February!! It means a lot to us and the bands and it's because of YOU that we can continue to release product - it is VERY MUCH appreciated! We have 3 new releases up and running... explained a little further below... In production right now are the following titles... PANDEMONIUM "The Kill" PANDEMONIUM "Heavy Metal Soldiers" PANDEMONIUM "Hole in the Sky" All feature bonus tracks , liners , photos , lyrics in an 8 page booklet. FINALLY! Soon to follow: DAY ONE , MEGATTACK , HARD ATTACK (AOR fans are gonna LOVE this find from 1986!!) , THE HYPNOTIX (featuring Jimi Goare) , HIGH TREASON , BIG TROUBLE (unearthed Glam / Hair Metal band!) , AIRSTRIKE , COWBOY X (another extremely rare Hair Metal find!) , VVSI , AMERICADE , CRYSTAL PISTOL , HYDE , PARADISE etc... NEW RELEASES: GUNNER "Desire" 2011 Introducing brand new AOR / HAIR METAL / MELODIC HARD ROCK sensations GUNNER!! Certainly one of the best bands to ever emerge from Argentina , this quartet cites influences such as WHITESNAKE , DOKKEN , MOTLEY CRUE , DANGER DANGER and FIREHOUSE and it's very evident by the quality of the songwriting that these guys are all about hooks and looks!! From driving hard rockers like 'Till I Reach The End' to the heartfelt ballad 'While Dreams Have Been Gone' , I believe all fans of 80s-style AOR / Melodic Hard Rock will place this release in their top ten of the year. Retrospect Records is very happy to have GUNNER join the currently ACTIVE roster of new up and coming artists like Wildstreet , The Glitter Boys and Pretty Little Suicide on the label. ENJOY!! MEGATON BLONDE "Megaton Blonde" 1989 One of our most anticipated releases of 2011 is here! During the late 80's / early 90's there were 3 excellent bands that ruled the Milwaukee Hard Rock / Metal scene... PROBLEM CHILD , MOXY ROXX and MEGATON BLONDE. Led by the powerful vocals of MORGAN THORN , who would later join Vicious Rumors , Morgan sounds like a mix of Bruce Dickinson , Geoff Tate and Mike Lee (Barren Cross). Combined with a wicked dual axe attack , pounding rhythm section including drummer Mike Stix (ex-Realm) and songs that pack a megaton punch , every fan and collector of Melodic 80s Metal should find this release a top-notch treasure. Some of these songs were produced by legendary Metal producer Eric "Griffy" Greif. Personally I believe Megaton Blonde is one of the best indie Metal releases Retrospect has ever unearthed (the first song alone 'Digital Doll' is one of the best songs I've ever heard) and will definitely appeal to fans of: MALICE 'License To Kill' , QUEENSRYCHE 'The Warning' , SHOK PARIS 'Steel and Starlight' , ICON self-titled , LEATHERWOLF self-titled , FIFTH ANGEL , BARREN CROSS 'Atomic Arena' , VYPER 'Prepared To Strike' , OBSESSION 'Scarred For Life' etc... Very classy stuff here and , of course , released for the first time ever on cd format! ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL! THE PACT "Rock The Nite" 1986 First time ever on cd for Boston-based Melodic Hard Rock / Melodic Metal act THE PACT. Formed in 1984 , these recordings were all taken from sessions throughout the mid to late 80s. Powerful Hard Rock bordering on Commercial Metal that equates to another great find for collectors and fans of obscure 80s releases like RECKLESS 'No Frills' , MASS 'New Birth' , METALWOLF 'Down to the Wire' , AXTION 'Look Out For The Night' , VYPER 'Prepared To Strike' , HYDE 'Hyde' , ROCK CANDY 'Sucker For A Pretty Face' etc... I am also very happy to announce that Retrospect Records will have its own stage at the coveted Rocklahoma festival in May for our 4th consecutive year. Headliners this year include bands like Motley Crue , Poison and Whitesnake as well as some more modern acts. Our roster this year includes: D'Molls , Alias , Firstryke , The Glitter Boys , Wildstreet (featuring Jonny Prynce of Dirty Penny) , Pretty Little Suicide , Aura Surreal , Aska , Loveblast , Black Tora , Kenny Mac's New Cool World , Diemonds , Strikeforce , Blue Tiger , Cuttlass and more! ROCK ON everybody and I hope you find something on the website that suits your musical tastes! Sam McCaslin CEO - Retrospect Records www.retrospectrecords.com
  10. Here's one of my favorites from CD Baby - a great AOR gem from 1987. Singer sounds like Mike Reno. Totally essential IMO. My link
  11. Steve is a great guy and wish him all the best. I passed on Priscilla when they wanted me to release their album , I just didn't think it was very good. Problem I am noticing with a lot of the sound samples is that they are in dire need of good remastering. Hey I'm not saying Retrospect is perfect but you oughtta see some of the stuff we get sent to remaster from - LOL , maybe he has the same problems I dunno. Anyhoo , all the best to Steve and FnA.
  12. Wow - have you guys picked up Bad City's cd? KILLER SHIT! Atlantic should be doing a LOT more for this band and they should be all over the radio. They are like a brand new Skid Row with the excellent dual axe attack and those massive choruses. Man , I know there's killer shit like Pretty Maids and Treat with awesome 2010 releases but as far as I'm concerned , the 2 best U.S. Hard Rock bands right now are Bad City and Loveblast. Opinions?
  13. That link I provided had changed - that's actually now O'Dette who I dig of course.
  14. Russian-made boots. I know where they come from - I have quite a few. Very well done but Paul Lancia is pretty peeved. All the shit that I took on this forum about selling boots and you guys are praising it. Kind of ironic - LOL. It's all good.
  15. With all due respect , those guys are not only arrogant dicks but they suck ass. Pantera wannabe's and REALLY bad guitar solos. Sorry.
  16. If you have a couple of minutes this is a pretty cool read... My link Go to pages 32 & 33
  17. UPDATE: I have released St Elmo's Fire from the label. I believe FnA will pick em up. Good guys , good band , just not a priority for us right now.
  18. Thanks for the hook up on Gunner Sixx man , good stuff!! Just signed 2 more bands today... RADIOUX CITY featuring Gary Brandon of White Sister. HARD ATTACK - oh man , another stomping Melodic Hard Rock band from Connecticut - all unreleased stuff from the early 90s...WOW!! 2011 is gonna be another killer year!
  19. How can I forget? New band GUNNER SIXX out of Argentina is also a new release for January - our answer to White Widdow... Gunner Sixx Click the link to hear some samples and check out the band.
  20. Our final releases of the year are almost ready... JOINED FORCES featuring Jimi Bell of House of Lords MEGATON BLONDE featuring Morgan Thorn of Vicious Rumors MPG + 4 Bonus Tracks (the wait is almost over!) THE PACT RADICAL DREAM THICK RICHARD 'Fire It Up' We will kick off the new year with the much anticipated 3 PANDEMONIUM albums followed by AMERICADE (with Malice Singer James Neal) , VVSI 'No Ace At Hand' and the four ST. ELMO'S FIRE albums. Official announcements soon... Please check out our new release SAKER which is a pretty kick-ass slice of Melodic Hard Rock! Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Sam
  21. I was the keyboardist in that band for a few months and if you notice in the pic , my bro is in the band now.
  22. I think Bon Jovi AND Poison both have their place. Are we not at HH partly because of those bands?
