  1. I haven't seen that dude from Houston post in a while. And I can't remember his name for the life of me , you know , the dude that was a big collector that used to be a big part of the major babe-age thread. Brian knows who I'm talking about.
  2. I gotta say that I much prefer the people at this forum than over at MR.com - Andrew I can handle , it's just the other pompous British tools that I can live without (and I can say that since I'm half-English). If it's not European it sucks mentality. LOL
  3. Ok , so its not the greatest thing in the world but it's mildly amusing. Nicholas Furlong Video
  4. Skid wished death upon my family - that was totally unacceptable and he deserves every rant I aim at him (which , incidentally , this is the 1st and only time I took a potshot at that scumbag bastard in public and it was sort of in jest). I still have my sense of humor. By deleting posts about Retrospect and/or the artists involved , he is far from 'ignoring' , and all he's doing is hurting the artists... at least most of the people over there do buy from me anyway which is a blessing.
  5. And let's not forget the abysmal turn-out for Rock n America in OKC as well. THE festival of the year for 80s fans was definitely M3 in Baltimore which damn near had a sell-out crowd. Location has a lot to do with it.
  6. I should weigh in a couple of cents here. It seems like I only come to the board to promote new releases / signings or update on some news but I actually do read a lot on the forums. As a label it's important for me to hear feedback from people who have purchased a cd and I like to read what they have to say. I know that the opinion of me and/or my ethics has been lukewarm and there are probably still people who visit this forum that think I'm a crook or a tool or whatever. Here's what I'd like to convey right now: 1) Heavy Harmonies is the best fucking Melodic Rock / Metal website on the net...bar none. Dan you are the man for creating this monster and I really wish you could do something with it to generate more income for yourself - you deserve it. 5 years ago I never would have said that , but I can now. 2) I really have so many opinions and thoughts about OUR music and the industry itself I should write a fucking book. I believe I run a fairly successful company but there are always obstacles and setbacks along every journey. I have been accused of bootlegging and/or selling boots. There are people who think they are the "internet police" that want to stop boots being sold...that will NEVER happen. That industry is far bigger than you will ever imagine. It started with Reborn Classics , continued with Ryan at Metal Mayhem , then Old Metal followed , and the Greeks and Russians and even the Chinese jumped on board. Then there's the Time Warp charade (NOT my company and I will put my life on that). How Do I know? Because I know where they come from , who makes them , and what they are doing next. I don't agree with it , and yep I have sold them , but there are far more bigger challenges right now than a few thousand boots circulating. Mainly - ILLEGAL DOWNLOADING. It's destroying the entertainment industry and I could spend fucking hours on this topic. It has to be stopped and it has to be governed and regulated (and I despise big government). Next time I do a spot on a radio show , I'll post here when it's going to be and we can talk about it. As you know , I've bought my own FM station in Utah and would love to have you guys call in and we can discuss music on the show. Everyone is welcome. 3) Dan , I get about a million hits on my site every month - I would certainly be happy to put a link to this site from mine , but I really need that closed thread about Retrospect to disappear - LOL. 4) OUR music is dying AGAIN. I've seen it first hand and am witnessing the demise of Melodic Rock (especially in the USA). Here is a fact for ya: 80% of my products go overseas - that's a staggering number considering 90% of the bands I sign are American. Nobody goes to see bands anymore and everyone's too much into themselves to care about helping out artists...man I got a LOT to say on this subject but nobody wants to read an essay.... 5) I've thought about what I could do to start a shitstorm like back in the good ole days...so here goes... SKID - YOU ARE A PATHETIC PIECE OF GNAT-SHIT WHO DOESN'T KNOW SQUAT ABOUT THE INDUSTRY. SLEAZEROXX IS A FUCKING EMBARRASSMENT AND YOU ARE PROBABLY THE BIGGEST WANK-STAIN WANNABE TO EVER CREATE A WORTHLESS WEBSITE. FUCK YOU AND THE WHORE YOU RODE IN ON YOU SPINELESS CUNT. Ahhhhhhhh....man that felt good!!

  8. Hopefully you'll change your opinion once you hear the finnished product Sam Oh wowser. Mate, I seriously don't want to get in a silly "my band's better than yours" discussion, and I know you're only talking up a lot of the Retrospect releases in order to move them off the shelves... and PLEASE, don't get me wrong. I love many Retrospect albums such as Defcon, Wildstreet, Masquerade. Foxx etc. etc. I have dozens and dozens of them and enjoy most of them. But mate, this White Widdow material, in my humble opinion of course, is a lot better than most the stuff that gets quite a lot of hype over on Retrospect. To each their own, but as I said above - Aussie or not, I just think these guys are excellent. Jules may not have the voice of those guys you mention, but my impression of the guy is that what he lacks in vocal technique he more than makes up in passion for his craft. On songs these strong I think his vocals are fine and if this gets the production job it deserves, I know my balls are knotted in a bow of anticipation. I know it's all opinions mate but of course White Widdow has nothing on a band like Defcon , Mariah or Heavens Wish IMO. Like I said , I'm happy he's doing the AOR thing. If I ever get to release my own album I hope you will feel the same hype over it. LOL. For me , the LIVE thing has a lot to do with my opinion on a band. I've seen a lot of the Retrospect roster LIVE and can honestly say that they kicked ass (O'dette , D'Molls , Pairadice , Wildstreet and Lorraine especially come to mind). White Widdow's live performance was a little lacking and the vocals just don't blow me away. Kind of like Crazy Lixx and Dirty Penny , what great albums but sub-par in a live setting. Different strokes for different folks mate!
  9. Wow - here's my 2 cents. I met Jules at Rocklahoma 2008. Extremely cool dude and we got on really well. I am very happy he's doing the 80s AOR thing and it's always very difficult for me to say anything negative but after checking out the tunes I am really surprised at the excitement surrounding this band. Jules just isn't really THAT good of a singer. He's ok but certainly no Kip Winger , Jeff Scott Soto or Robert Mason. And the songs are good but not outstanding. I don't know , I wasn't as thrilled as the rest of you are about this project. Kudos for keeping it AOR but now I know how excited y'all get about above average AOR albums , I guess it's time to record one for myself - LOL. Don't take this as negative , I just don't see or hear the big thrill. Have you not listened to the live footage they have on youtube? ummm...yeh. Anyhoo , just my 2 cents. Good stuff but not essential IMO.
  10. For the brits...remember these guys... Ken Dodd's Dad's Dog's Dead And how can we forget The Black Cunts
  11. Loveblast have been bugging me to sign em - I think I should re-visit them , especially now they have a RIPPIN guitar player in the band (guitarist from O'dette). O'dette was one of my biggest surprises at Rocklahoma this year. ANYONE into Melodic Hard Rock would have been impressed I think. A guitar player that just tore the roof off and by God , A REAL SINGER! I'll have to post some video footage...in fact I just need to release a freakin dvd of all the bands from the past 3 years at Rocklahoma (Mariah , Mass , Keel etc...) On a sour note - THIS was the reason I didn't sign Loveblast.. I hope they have improved since this....
  12. If you can wait a month we are releasing it as a SILVER disc and totally remastered. If most of you have the cd-r released by the band , the sound quality is pretty weak , we have done a killer job in making it sound better. I hope you guys will purchase it again. And yes I have signed the band officially.
  13. Another excellent six-pack of releases are now available from Retrospect Records - THE STORM - Sweet Surrender Holy smokes! Retrospect Records has done it again! For the first time ever on cd comes some of the most sought after recordings on the planet...The Storm! We all know that the best Melodic Rock and AOR was recorded in the 80s and early 90s and this release is no exception. Quite simply , this is a pure AOR masterpiece. Fronted by the golden vocal pipes of Kristina Nichols and complemented very nicely by the talent of keyboardist / vocalist Karen Childs as well as seasoned session musicians Joe Palmeri , Tad Dery and David Logeman , The Storm is a Melodic Rock lovers dream. How this band escaped a major deal is bewildering. Every song is a bonafide hit and a few of these were even covered by other artists of the era including Mark Free. Massive hooks , killer vocals , tasty guitars and plenty of rich keyboard work. I'm sure you will agree this is fantastic material and easily one of the best female-fronted AOR releases ever!! BRICKYARD - self-titled Wow - this is another great slice of 80s Melodic Rock / AOR unleashed from the vaults!! Led by Welsh-born Vocalist Mikel Japp , who has written songs for The Babys , Kiss , Michael Des Barres and Bryan Adams , Brickyard was actually a Los Angeles-based band that recorded a slew of songs that have never seen the light of day in cd form...until now. Mikel sounds like the perfect blend of John Waite , Lou Gramm , Steve Overland and Daniel Bowes. The four other members of Brickyard are extremely talented seasoned musicians who knew exactly how to lay down a tight Melodic Rock album with extremely tasty guitar work and a sprinkling of keys...David Logeman , Tad Dery , Luke Thule and Michael Lamper. Very highly recommended to all fans of top-notch classy 80s AOR and bands like: Terraplane , Foreigner , The Babys , Wildlife , FM , Thunder , Signal , Strangeways ETC... HEIST - High Heel Heaven +2 Digitally Remastered with an additional two bonus tracks HEIST'S "High Heel Heaven" is a killer slice of Hair Metal / Melodic Hard Rock from 1989 that was long overdue for a re-issue. Easily one of the best Melodic Metal bands to ever emerge from the Bay Area , Heist features powerful soaring vocals , memorable hooks , blazing guitars and top-notch musicianship. Essential for all fans and collectors of 80s Hair Metal and especially fans of bands like: Vyper , Black n Blue , Y & T , Hurricane , Malice , Shok Paris , Icon , Weapons , Banshee , Problem Child ETC... RAGE N ROX - self-titled First time ever on CD for this amazing female-fronted 80s Melodic Rock / AOR band. Hailing from Portland Oregon , Rage N Rox features the powerful vocals of Tamara Deems and the impressive array of guitar pyrotechnics from husband Gordy Deems. From driving Melodic Rock to gorgeous AOR ballads , Rage n Rox highlights strong memorable hooks and a perfect blend of guitars and keys , making this almost-forgotten 80s treasure an essential addition to your collection. Very highly recommended to fans of: Vixen , Fiona , Toronto , TinDrum , Aina , Annica , Joanna Dean , Femme Fatale and of course Heart. Where do we keep finding them?? MARS - Metaldrone There were a lot of overlooked gems in the 80s Metal genre and MARS is definitely one of them. Originally released on vinyl back in 1987 , this Pennsylvania-based band may have been short-lived but produced quite a quality slab of Melodic Metal that has rightly earned a cd release in 2010. All of the 80s elements are here...killer vocals from Jimi Jaymz (who would later join Dirty Looks) , razor-sharp guitars and a stomping rhythm section. Very highly recommended to all you underground 80s Metalheads! AMETHYST - The Maze Of Destiny Amethyst formed in Kansas City in 1986 and recorded all of these songs between 1990 & 1992. Heavily influenced by bands like Queensryche and Crimson Glory , Amethyst play Melodic "Thinking-Mans" Metal. Geoff Tate-style vocals and first-class musicianship dominate this exceptional release. First time ever on cd!! Retrospect Records has released almost 50 cd's this year. If you missed our press releases then please come visit us at www.retrospectrecords.com and help support Melodic Rock / AOR music - there are a ton of releases to listen to. Thanks!

ELECTRIC EELS – Self Titled and II: Finally -- after years of much mystery and wonder, eventually reaching a kind of cult status -- is the authentic CD release of Fresno, California-based Electric Eels' self titled album with a previously unreleased bonus track!! Recorded in 1983 and 1984, featuring the gutsy lead vocals and fiery guitar playing of leader JERRY LEAL (who later went on to form The Heritage and Eve's Burden), this once rare find is now available on Retrospect. This is pure yet unique 80's melodic hard rock / metal that any fan of the genre would appreciate. Following up the release of Electric Eels' self titled album, is "II" -- complete with similar fantasy artwork and a whopping 19 songs on 1 disc -- all previously unreleased studio and live recordings from 1986. Some excellent classic 80's melodic hard rock / metal here that is arguably even heavier than their first album. KEITH GORDEN – A Place In Time: Melodic Soft Rock / Westcoast AOR fans rejoice!! Recorded in 1997, I bet you probably have never heard of this gem from vocalist Keith Gorden! Originally based in L.A., Keith met up with VINCE DI COLA (Storming Heaven, Stan Bush, Rocky IV soundtrack) and BRETT TUGGLE (Stan Bush, Rick Springfield, Fleetwood Mac) who wrote, performed (along with top session players) and produced the songs on this 5 track CD. Coincidentally, track 3 was originally written by Vince for the Rocky IV soundtrack but never made the album! ILLUSTRATOR – Illustrator / Somewhere In The World: One of the first releases on the newly established subsidiary RETROCROSS RECORDS is the re-issue of both of Illustrator's classic Christian Melodic Pop~Rock / Westcoast AOR albums from 1987 and 1989 on one disc!! Illustrator probably need no introduction as they have garnered quite a stellar reputation throughout the years as being one of the best Christian Westcoast artists in the late 80's! Both albums feature the presence of guitar wiz DANN HUFF who plays some of his best guitar solo's here and he is ALL OVER these songs!! LOST & FOUND – Welcome To The Real World: Well here is a lost gem that needed to be found....and re-issued!! Originally released in 1988, this rare Christian melodic rock / AOR CD is one of the very first releases on Retrospect's new subsidiary label RETROCROSS Records that is dedicated to preserving 80's Christian rock!! And what a release it is! This California-based six piece band sports a superb balance of keyboards, tasty rockin' guitars and amazing vocal harmonies!! This elusive CD has garnered rave reviews throughout the years and has become almost impossible to find...until now. Digitally remastered with 2 fantastic previously unreleased bonus demo tracks!! KINKI STUNT – Kinki Stunt: An awesome band name, with even better music!! Kinki Stunt were one of Las Vegas, Nevada's finest exports in the early to mid 90's!! Originally released in 1994 and soon becoming impossible to track down, it was only fitting that Retrospect contact this fantastic band to re-issue their killer CD -- and while the original release only had 7 songs, we have added 6 previously unreleased tracks to this edition!! And don't be concerned about the 1994 recording date, this is nothing but 80's powerful melodic hard rock with a hint of hair metal and glam. RUFF JUSTICE – No Justice No Peace: Originally released in 1995, this quality melodic metal CD has caused quite a stir over the years, becoming quite a rare find due to the very limited pressings at the time. Don't be fooled by the mid-90's recording date though, this Dallas Texas-based band is pure 80's through and through. PERENNIAL – You’re The Ones…In My Dreams: Perennial are undoubtedly one of the best Seattle bands most have never heard!! We're pretty sure this will top want lists around the globe! Perennial played an impressive, solid, dynamic and pretty unique blend of 80's melodic metal and melodic hard rock with splashes of hair metal and AOR. We have compiled ALL of their recordings onto 1 disc, on CD format for the first time ever -- the songs come from their "You're The Ones" EP from 1983, the previously unreleased Moore Theater Sessions (1984) and the "In My Dreams" LP (1985). Perennial were clearly influenced by early Van Halen, fronted by strong gritty lead vocalist Chris Malone (complete with David Lee Roth screams), the band also features explosive drummer Mark Welling (of BLOODGOOD) and the virtuoso inventive guitar chops & riffs of Schuyler Duryee (now a top session guitarist in Nashville). SILVER SHADOW – Silver Shadow: Originally released in 1982 as a VERY limited edition picture disc on a tiny fledgling label, Silver Shadow were an extremely talented female fronted Melodic Rock / AOR band from Southern California. 15. Option 4 for me , I can't get enough of old and new bands. I have over 13,000 cd's in my collection (plus a crap-load of cassettes) plus I have about 2,000 cd's sittin here that I haven't even listened to yet. Between that and the ridiculous amounts of cd's / demos I get sent every week , I just don't have time anymore to listen to the "backlog" of stuff. Crazy business... I have been selling off some of my collection after ripping to hard drive but I'm saving all the mega-rarities until last. It's gonna be tough to let those go...
  16. Hi everyone. As you know , Retrospect has been involved in the Rocklahoma , M3 and Rock n America festivals the past 3 years and I am HIGHLY considering putting something amazing on here in Vegas next year. Bigger than Melodic RockFest but not as big as Rocklahoma. We're talking about a 3-day 80s Rockfest that will have quite an impressive line-up. We are focusing more on the smaller bands from the 80s that people haven't seen in forever or don't get to see very much , as well as some decent headliners (Airbourne , Europe , Krokus , Accept and such). Here's just a few of the smaller bands I'm suggesting... Babylon AD Icon Baton Rouge Silent Rage Helix Big Cock Unruly Child Hardline Madam X Fifth Angel King Kobra Bangalore Choir Beggars and Thieves Steel Panther D'Molls Jeff Scott Soto (in any form) Lizzy Borden Lillian Axe Leatherwolf Malice Shark Island Spread Eagle Tora Tora Tyketto Wildside Cry Wolf etc.. etc..etc.. We are also considering bringing over a Swedish contingent which would be the first time for bands like Wig Wam , Crashdiet , Crazy Lixx , H.E.A.T. and the like to play on American soil. Before I blow my wad on such an ambitious festival (which I believe is needed on the west coast and hopefully not the disaster Ultrasound was) , what I want to know is this... HOW MANY OF YOU WOULD HIGHLY CONSIDER ATTENDING THIS FESTIVAL?? As the biggest supporters of "OUR" music your opinion is very valuable to me. The H.H. crew are the best fans in the business and I'd like you to share your thoughts... Thanks in advance for any input... Sam
  17. 6.30pm PST (30 mins from now) We'll talk about Rocklahoma , M3 , Rock n America , new releases and the biggest 80s festival in the world 2011... RETROSPECT ROCKFEST. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/bleach-bangs Thanks!
  18. Amazing festival! best one i have ever seen or been a part of. 15,000+ in attendance and what a day!! All bands were kickin ass! Anybody going to rock n america next month? look at this freakin line-up!! www.rocknamerica.com
  19. got everything here , just need to get them up on the site now.
  20. yeh , i think they are doing Friday in Dakota then Sunday at Rock n America. Wish I could make Dakota.
  21. Hey guys. Just a quick update. Picking up 12 new releases from the plant today! Keep your eyes on the website. Rocklahoma last week was our most successful one yet. Although they ditched the majority of 80s bands in favor of modern bands , the Rok veterans enjoyed our bands and everyone had a blast. I still think younger people are closed-minded about the "classic" sound but that's just my opinion. Next week we're off to the coveted M3 festival in Maryland to support our band MASS and sell our wares to the 80s fanatics! We are confirmed for the biggest 80s festival of the year! Rock n America fest in Oklahoma City in the third week of July. Have you seen the line-up? 3 days of hair metal mania! We'll be bringing in Wildstreet , The Glitter Boys and Firstryke as well as hosting a vendor spot. Speaking of Wildstreet , here's a promo video for their new song "Cocked n Ready" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmIbSN4G_vM Staying busy , will keep you updated when all this madness calms down. Sam
