  1. Thanks for the Rocklahoma update. I just passed the info along to a friend. If the Tulsa band I told you about at Rocklahoma this year was serious they will be in contact soon. I'm really hoping they were serious about wanting to play. I know I've wanted to see them for years.
  2. I ordered 2 copies of Jungle Blue last night. I can't wait to get it.
  3. The comment about telling the Best Buy people a cd title so they can help find it reminded me of the above quote. I wrote that on the Sleaze Roxx boards on October 24, 2006. I think I tried a couple more times to get the cd with no luck. I never did get it.
  4. Are these cds available anywhere else besides the Suncity site? I just found out there's no distribution in Tulsa for the cd yet. I really want to get my hands on the cd asap. Coming from Australia it might take a bit of time to get here.
  5. I thought it was too good to be true too. I still like the poster though. It's just sad that someone actually has time to come up with stuff like that. I'm hoping the Hillary Duff one isn't fake too.
  6. There's funny. There there's sweet. Is this photo for real? Hard to believe I hadn't seen it before now.

    TV Shows

I can kind of understand why they didn't use the name of a real college in Tulsa, but what they did was just hokey. It pretty much ruined the episode for me. The whole thing with copyrighted names in tv shows is a confusing one to me. In some shows you will see real brands and others you don't. In some shows they mention real colleges and real colleges are a part of the storyline. I'm guessing part of it has to do with how the copyrighted name is used. Anyway, another show that really disappointed me was Rodney. It was a cookie cutter sitcom starring comedian Rodney Carrington. I watched it because it was about his life in Tulsa and his attempts to break into comedy. I never saw anything in the show that resembled Tulsa. About the closest thing I saw was an OU hat in their house. The people in the show were like some people I've encountered around here. That was about the only bright spot in the show. After a while I stopped following it. About the only time I would watch it was if there was nothing else on. Then it got cancelled during the second season. So much for the possibility of new shows taking place in Tulsa.
  8. I don't think that sunscreen poster can be topped. There's just no way.
  9. Terminator 3 is certainly the weakest of the first trilogy, but it's not horrible. I rather enjoyed T3. The Terminator tv series is what I can't stand. That show is an abomination. I am excited about the new Terminator movie. I am not going to get too hyped up about it though. If I do I may end up walking out of the theater with the same feeling I had after Batman & Robin.
  10. Is sunscreen girl a pornstar? She sure looks familiar.
  11. The look on Britney's face makes me honestly think that she wouldn't care if they happened to fall out.
  12. Jungle Blue- Call Of The Wild. Come on Mr. Moors, I know you can deliver.
  13. That is one long running joke. I guess that's what I get for trying to help people get free hot sauce. Maybe if I found an offer for free beer they might actually deliver.

    TV Shows

I must say this topic is one that really irritates me. Since I'm from Tulsa no one really cares about us. If it wasn't for college football I'm sure that most people wouldn't even acknowledge Oklahoma exists. All of the tv shows and movies always take place in L.A., San Fran, Chicago, Miami, New York, etc. For the life of me I can't understand that. There is a whole huge country between the coasts that rarely gets any love. Can't the writers in Hollywood find an interesting city in middle America to make a show about? Last night I was shocked by what I saw. I read that on Eleventh Hour they were supposed to be investigating a case in Oklahoma. I made sure to tune in. They said the case was about Tulsa and a college campus. Sounds good so far. Then they called the school Tulsa State College. What the hell is that? There's no college in Tulsa called that. We have Oral Roberts, Tulsa University, and some other minor schools in the city. Not only that, but the school's initials was TT. If there was such a school it's initials would be TSC. I heard them call the team the Titans. I'm guessing that's how they got the initials TT, but I've never heard of a college using it's sports teams name as a part of the initials. That's not even the best part. They didn't show or mention one single thing that would have made me believe it was actually Tulsa. When they showed the campus it was massive. It might have been bigger that ORU and TU combined. I must say that I'm just really disappointed. I like the show, but they totally misrepresented where I live. I'm hoping that I'll forget about this in a few weeks. Mr. Hood's assistant should help me with that.
  15. I intended to go to the sale today at Wal-Mart. It started raining hard at 2:30 in the morning and it woke me up. I decided to get up and check online. I checked out Amazon and Wal-Mart. Amazon had enough dvd's I was after and I found that Wal-Mart had the 2 most important items I was after so I decided to just stay home. I hate driving in rainy weather so the decision to stay home was even easier. Strangely enough I think a lot of other people had the same idea and Wal-Mart's site crashed. So I bought Spider-man 1+2, The Notebook, Monk season 2, and Weeds season 1 for my sister. Since my sister can't get tv stations where she lives I thought I would do her a favor and get her some good deals. I also bought an extra copy of Monk to give to my mom for Christmas. After I bought the stuff from Amazon at 4:30 or 5:00 I went back to bed. I got up just before 11:00 and checked out the Wal-Mart site. It was back up, but the camera I was trying to get for my sister was gone. The $29 printer was still there so I bought it. We don't have a printer so it was needed. I must say that after finding out 3 people died even what I did seems a bit wrong. I almost feel selfish even though I had nothing to do with those peoples actions.
  16. I watched the preview for the movie and I didn't really get anything out of it. I must say that I liked Freddy Vs. Jason. I'm still waiting for the sequel and Chucky Vs. Leprechaun. How about Donkey Kong Vs. King Kong? It all sounds good to me.
  17. That contest was a joke. Out of all the sleazy 80's style bands in the contest not one made the cut. How is that possible? Motley Crue can take their tour and shove it. The only way I would pay to see those losers is if a real band like Kidd Havok, Dirty Penny, or Rockarma opened for them.
  18. Sweet! Jungle Blue is finally coming. That's interesting artwork. I'm going to buy a ton of copies, get them signed, and give them to people who have influenced me.
  19. Come on dude. You have to give DaVinci more than 5 minutes of your time. It's a bad ass show. Davinci's Inquest is a more realistic take on the crime genre. The show portrays a gritty crime riddled city and the people that do their best to keep it in check. DaVinci is a very flawed man. He's an alcoholic and he has many struggles in life. Even so he does every thing in his power to ensure justice no matter how politically incorrect it may be. The story is very well written. It's not the type show that is always solved at the end of each episode. Some stories take more than one episode. Many stories will even pick up again several episodes later as other stories unfold. I may not have given much look at The Shield yet, but when I do will give it more than 5 minutes. I have seen at least one episode. I had no idea what was going on. The Commish was sneaking around with his buddies talking about some crime they did and they were all worried about being found out. I thought it was a bit strange that the cops were bad guys too. Since I had no idea what was going on I haven't passed judgement on the series yet. Btw, anyone seen the previews for The Mentalist? It looks like Psych, but more serious. Looks like they're going back to the well that Columbo, Monk, and countless others have successfully drawn from.
  20. I want the Rocklahoma dvd. I caught quite a bit of it, but there are some bands that I really wish I could have seen.
  21. I haven't had a beer since Rocklahoma. I think I drank 5 Miller Lites. As much as I paid for my ticket I should have drank 50. Before that I drank a few micro brews with my Dad and Bro in Oregon. For some reason I can only remember the Widmer Brothers. I wasn't a big fan of it though. Anyone know what percent alcohol Texas has? I'd like to see how much of a difference there is.
  22. The problem with any genre of tv is that it will always be ran into the ground. If a new take can be presented on the genre (such as what CSI did in 2000) and it becomes successful then copycats come from everywhere. At this point in time I think the genre is completely oversaturated. Shows like Bones, Cold Case, and Women's Murder Club should have never made it to air. They are just horribly written "me too" shows. I guess the problem is that with anything else in life there will always be those who watch something no matter how bad it is. Even if all the crime shows were at the point where they are like the shows mentioned above, which they are not, they would continue to be made and watched because there's nothing to replace them. Just like the no longer funny sitcom that just won't die, the cop genre won't ever go away either.
  23. Man, I'm like the complete opposite of Dan. I forgot to mention Dexter. I watched that show when they aired the edited version on CBS. I must say that it was quite excellent. I also seem to watch quite a bit of those crime programs. I'm always interested in the stories they tell on shows like 48 Hours. I realize that those programs are basically filler on the schedule, but honestly they're better than most of the crap on tv today. Here's ya a pic of Da Vinci's Inquest.
  24. I don't have cable so I haven't been able to watch The Shield or The Wire. They have reruns of The Shield on regular tv, but I haven't even gave it a thought because there's no way I would be be able to understand what's going on. If you want a more realistic take on crime you might want to look at DaVinci's Inquest. It's a top notch Canadian show.
  25. I love crime drama. My favorite being the original CSI. I also like Criminal Minds, NCIS, and Without A Trace. The next level down would be shows like CSI Miami and Numbers. The bottom of the barrel would be shows like Bones, Cold Case, Women's Murder Club (which got cancelled ), and CSI New York. I could never get NBC with a decent reception until just recently. Since we now have a HDTV and because of the writers strike we started watching NBC more. I also started watching the reruns of Criminal Intent on ABC. I haven't put much time into the Law & Order franchise. After watching Criminal Intent for a while I soon came to the conclusion that it's bottom of the barrel. I've only watched the original Law & Order and SVU a few times, but I can tell they're much better shows. I'm also a huge fan of DaVinci's Inquest. I didn't even know about it until the past year. I'm not sure what you would call The Dead Zone, but I've been watching it quite a bit recently. I even watch the quirky Pushing Daisies show. I also watch older shows. Kojak is awesome. I watch a lot of detective shows too. I'm not 100% sure where they fit into the picture. Columbo, Psych, Monk, and Simon & Simon. John Doe was a hybrid type of show. It had Sci-Fi elements, but at heart it was a detective show. I watched Killer Instinct when it was on. I even remember watching a somewhat cheesy show called The Evidence. On many of these shows I do notice a cheese factor. It's especially prevalent on CSI Miami and New York. Right after the crime is discovered one of the CSI's (usually Horatio on Miami) makes a cheesy comment and then it goes into the intro. I remember one especially cheesy episode of New York where they found a body smashed between two crate type containers. One of the guys said they needed a spatula. That was beyond cheesy.
