Heaven Below - 'Countdown to devil'

Hope I'm not out of place putting this in the hard rock category, but it is just a bit too close to call to not put here and doesn't deserve an 'other style' label (not that most those bands in that forum do). Some killer solos amongst some great songs... very well worth checking out.

Wow this is some kick ass hard rock. :headbanger: One of the band members looks like Adam Lambert and I went "Oh shit, another emo band from Geoff!!". Oh was I surprised. Nice find...

Wow, nice find finally, lol. I may actually consider picking this one up. Definitely some rockin' stuff here. "Scream" and "A Thousand Years" really stood out for me. I loves me a thick meaty guitar sound.

Real nice! Not a day goes by where I'm not introduced to a new band by someone on this forum. I think talking about them in the Hard Rock section is more than appropriate Geoff.

Another spin... it's a good disc. The solo in the first song is a monster! Otherwise, I actually really like the 3 ballads - 'As daylight dies', 'The radio song' and 'Judgement day'. Man those three are excellent songs.

Very solid CD. Also, the vocals remind me a lot of Paul Laine.

Thanks for the link Geoff. I just placed my order for a copy. I'm really digging the samples I've been hearing. Looking forward to giving this a full spin. This is the main reason I check this board out. I'm always looking for the next cool band I may not know about.

No worries mate. :)

PS. I thought the main reason you came here was for the nude pics of me. :(

I just ordered it. The sound was to quote Geoff 'impressive'. I think it's the first time that I've ever ordered from CD Baby. A little pricey for shipping to Canada without the jewel case 5.11$, I charge 3.50$ when I sell without a jewel case to the States. Still the disc was 10$, can't complain about that price.

I just got this in the mail today from CD Baby. I haven't spun it yet to give a full verdict of the music, but I just wanted to let anybody interested in ordering it know that it appears to be another very well done CDR treatment. I know the purists out there might shun away from it now. It's very nicely done though with full glossy lyric booklet and everything. The only way to tell is the blue-tinged backside of the disc. Ok, back again soon with my worthless thoughts and opinions of the actual songs :)

Gave her a full spin last night and I really liked it. The first couple of tracks are solid warmup tracks and then they really started cooking when they hit "Scream". They were throwing down guitar licks and style like they had plenty to spare. By the time they ripped through "A Thousand Years", "Radio Song", "The Laughing Dead", and "Judgement Day", I knew we had something special here. This is an excellent chunk of modern melodic metal with plenty of attitude. Very nice recommendation from Geoff. This band manages to blend a thick, meaty guitar sound with very good melodic choruses still. Thumbs up from me anyway.

I got my copy in the mail today. Brilliant!!! By far my fav Modernish Hard rock release of 2009, I still really love the Monty Are I, but very different in sound. Although it has lots of 80's hard rock all over the place, I'd still have to concider this one a modern rock thing.

Picture a blend of rockin' Hinder (although with much better vocals) slap on a ton of Endeverafter, add a good heep of grit à la Shinedown and The Story Of The Year. For the cherry on top add some George Lynch/Reb Beach styled shredding on the guitars. Some of the best solos of the year.

With some major label money added to the production this one would be HUGE!!!!

If you enjoy any of the bands mentioned in my description, buy this!!!! I got it from CD Baby.

    • I feel like the fans voting would result in more songs from the first two albums.
    • Looks like a pretty nice compilation to me. That said, this sort of stuff doesn't interest me at all anymore.  There was probably a time it would've but now it's just too easy to make your own playlists in spotify to bother.
    • Thankfully newer songs are at a minimum, but I really can't see fans voting for stuff from the new album even if they were the two best songs on that album
    • Final track listing revealed. Time to see if it is a genuine vote or the band/label putting in shit from the newer albums DISC 1 1 Livin' On A Prayer リヴィン・オン・ア・プレイヤー 2 It's My Life イッツ・マイ・ライフ 3 Born To Be My Baby ボーン・トゥ・ビー・マイ・ベイビー 4 These Days ジーズ・デイズ 5 In These Arms イン・ジーズ・アームズ 6 Always オールウェイズ 7 Have a Nice Day ハヴ・ア・ナイス・デイ 8 Runaway 夜明けのランナウェイ 9 You Give Love a Bad Name 禁じられた愛 10 I'll Be There for You アイル・ビー・ゼア・フォー・ユー 11 Keep The Faith キープ・ザ・フェイス 12 Bed Of Roses ベッド・オブ・ローゼズ 13 Bad Medicine バッド・メディシン 14 Wanted Dead or Alive ウォンテッド・デッド・オア・アライヴ 15 Blood on Blood ブラッド・オン・ブラッド 16 Legendary レジェンダリー DISC 2 1 Never Say Goodbye ネヴァー・セイ・グッドバイ 2 Someday I'll Be Saturday Night サムデイ・アイル・ビー・サタデイ・ナイト 3 She Don't Know Me シー・ドント・ノウ・ミー 4 Lay Your Hands On Me レイ・ユア・ハンズ・オン・ミー 5 Dry County ドライ・カウンティ 6 This Ain' t A Love Song ディス・エイント・ア・ラヴ・ソング 7 Wild Is the Wind ワイルド・イズ・ザ・ウィンド 8 Tokyo Road TOKYOロード 9 Everyday エヴリデイ 10 I Believe アイ・ビリーヴ 11 I'd Die for You アイド・ダイ・フォー・ユー 12 Living Proof リヴィング・プルーフ 13 Bounce バウンス 14 We Weren't Born To Follow ウィー・ワーント・ボーン・トゥ・フォロー 15 Something for the Pain サムシング・フォー・ザ・ペイン 16 One Wild Night ワン・ワイルド・ナイト DISC 3 1 Raise Your Hands レイズ・ユア・ハンズ 2 Living in Sin リヴィング・イン・シン 3 Thank You for Loving Me サンキュー 4 Last Man Standing ラスト・マン・スタンディング 5 Undivided アンディヴァイデッド 6 Lost Highway ロスト・ハイウェイ 7 Wild In The Streets ワイルド・イン・ザ・ストリーツ 8 Just Older ジャスト・オールダー 9 Because We Can ビコーズ・ウィー・キャン 10 This House Is Not For Sale ディス・ハウス・イズ・ノット・フォー・セール 11 Who Says You Can't Go Home フー・セズ・ユー・キャント・ゴー・ホーム 12 Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars キャプテン・クラッシュ&ザ・ビューティー・クイーン・フロム・マーズ 13 Only Lonely オンリー・ロンリー 14 I Am アイ・アム 15 Burning For Love バーニング・フォー・ラヴ 16 Hey God ヘイ・ゴッド 17 Stick To Your Guns スティック・トゥ・ユア・ガンズ 18 Any Other Day
    • New song 'Angelina (Talk To Me)'.
    • New song 'No Angel'.
    • As long as they stick with the stuff I enjoy I don't mind...ill enjoy what I enjoy and they can release stuff that others may enjoy...win win for them. As Captain H pointed out other labels have already done this...they don't wanna be pigeonholed as one genre I suppose.
    • I get the feeling that they wanna sign a lot of bands but they don't wanna be seen signing to the "hair metal" label, so this makes 100% sense. I saw on here recently a post from a few months back discussing how weird it was for hair metal/aor bands to be signed to Napalm Records, and I kinda get that as it is known as an extreme metal label, but it has branched out so much over the years, same as Spinefarm. There will always be those who view things black and white (fans and bands) when it comes to things like record labels, so save on confusion and create sister labels. I could imagine them shifting their heavier stuff to a new label as well down the line. I mean lets face it, the main label is named after a Journey album, so you can kinda see why some bands would avoid them.
