As we approach the end of the decade (2000-9) what do you think have been the best albums?

 

Here's my top 20 (MHR only...couldnt be bothered to do modern!)

On a side note 'Elevener' ?? Are you sure. I thought that was average at best. POL s/t slaughters that into oblivion. Just IMO of course ;-)

Is this worst album of the decade?

 

Haha - You either Like or not for sure with 'X', as has been well documented. Yeah, it's poppy and nowhere near as good as the old stuff, but I like quite a few of the tunes (and still do) on it.

 

Looking back at 2002, there wasn't a lot of choice to be honest. Some good/ solid albums like Harem Scarem, Final Frontier and a handful of others, but not alot else of note.

Very sure mate - Elevener is one of my fave AOR discs in quite a while, and I much prefer it to the most of the POL stuff. I'm boring of Peterik's more recent stuff the more I hear it if truth be told. The Prisoner album has some great songs on it and Tommy D fantastic on it - good tuneage aswell. Don't like the processed drums too much though. Michael Sdler is very good, although I wouldn't say it may be a gamble for you, I may be wrong. Not like his old day job with Saga, although there is a smattering of Saga in there and It's a little more Mainstream in sound. Very varied throughout musically though, so some may take your fancy.

Nice list - but wrong! That RETURN album was absolutely stunning, but was also 1992 rather than 2002. Sorry. I liked the second URBAN TALE more than the debut too - great stuff.

I love it mate - flawless. Plus it was so original when I first heard it. "Dark Passion Play" is also an absolute monster of a disc, but was still just behind this - mainly because of the weak vocals.
