After much deliberation here is my top 20 modern rock releases for the years 2000-2009 -

16. Alter Bridge - Blackbird

We have one in common. :guitbannana:

Wes, I love Alter Bridge, but I can honestly say that every album above it in that list is an absolute belter.

But that's not to say that they would probably waste most of those bands live. Kennedy is an awesome front man.

Nice list mate. I'd have to back you with the Pete Lesperance - and apart from Hinder I love that Top 5. You've missed one of my all time faves (Splender's "To Whom It May Concern"), and I wouldn't have put any Linking Park or Disturbed in there myself, but nice stuff otherwise....

Cheers mate. The Lesperance is and will always be one of my favourite albums. I know he re-issued it under the banner of Fairground, but they left my favourite song off 'Where You Want Me'.....I love that tune and it always confused me why they left that one off??! Anyways I am always on the look out for news of a new Fairground cd...that would be awesome.

We are never going to agree on Hinder so I wont bother commenting.

Yeah ha ha, the bottom three are weird choices eh??!...but I stand by them 100% and if the last 2/3 years hadnt been so damned strong for modern rock they would have featured a lot higher!

Linkin Park - massive debut. Huge songs throughout. Pretty much blew me away when I first heard it. Stands the test of time to these ears.

Disturbed - I love that album dearly. I played it to death at my old flat just after I split with my fiance of 6 years back in 2000. I was going through a...lets say aggressive period...and this hit the spot. 'Down With The Sickness' is still a huge tune.

Puddle Of Mudd - what can I say. The only grunge album that I love. Awesome tunes. awesome live. 'Basement' is one of my all time fav tunes.

Cheers

How did I miss 'Scars remain' on my list??!! What a homo!

But yeah, nice list. A few I don't agree with (I actually think the Linkin Park disc is great too, but I despise Puddle of Mudd and Disturbed ;) ) but generally a really cool list. Man you guys love that Lesperance one, hey?! Very good disc, but for me, way too many fillers amidst the gems.

Man I was trying to get those 2 Splender CDs out of my collection for years! I could have hooked you up with them gladly, mate. Another band Tim and I really don't agree on. I think they're shit, to be totally honest.

Oh, and don't let Bernd see this list. Then he won't let you like melodic rock anymore. After all, some people only have the ability to like one type of music at one time. Poor widdle munchkins. But we must be gentle with these "simple" folk. ;)

The Lesperance is filler free for me. & at least 6 absolute gems.

Yeah the Puddle & Disturbed dont quite fit, but as I said they are special albums for me, in a defining period of my life. Lots of good memories of spinning those 2 so monster albums for me.

Havent listened in full to that Splender disc yet, but sounded pretty good when I skipped through on Spotify...quite lightweight.

Are you counting 1999? Because that's when that DT came out. Either way I love that album too and I got your back on the Halford and Alter Bridge's :headbanger:

Iron Maiden - Brave New World

That's still my album of the decade.

I'm suprised that my disc still plays considering how many times I've played it. :headbanger:

A cracking return to the classic Maiden line up, still prefer A Matter Of Life And Death though! :headbanger:
