zacharyamelie
OK, I don't mind people selling the same items I do. Hell koogles and I often depend on each others previous success from week. But we have a newer Ebay seller from Canada called michel_bourgeau who has simply based his auction styles, description and pricing upon our results. If we sell one fairly big, money wise, he lists his item at a higher starting price and if an item we sell sorta only goes for chump change, he starts it off real low. I don't mind seeing some guy trying to make money off our previous success, but he is taking it too far. In this weeks auction which he listed just a few hours ago, he has listed a Ginger Snaps cd, that I just listed last night. They are so alike in description it's almost scary. It is scary, I only used a band photo from the back of the insert, he did the exact same.....go away leave me alone. His item: http://cgi.ebay.ca/Ginger-Snaps-S-T-CD-FF-...1QQcmdZViewItem My item: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...52732&rd=1&rd=1 I'm part flattered and part pissed. Does this guy not have an original thought? Check out some of his other items and some of mine or Koogles that have finished not so long ago. Every band description is the exact same. Koogles calls him the David Ayotte (that's me for those who don't know) wanna be. Sorta feels like I have someone looking at every move I make and waiting for me to sell so he can rush out to local pawn shops, buy and then sell what I sell. I sometimes look over my shoulder and panic just a bit....one day some guy with a goalie mask and a laptop will be sitting behind me. chocularok
Have you tried contacting him through ebay? Tell him to knock it the fuck off or he'll be reported. That may scare him off. Worth a shot.

chocularok
I don't doubt that ebay would do absolutely nothing (do they ever)...I just thought that maybe the *threat* of contacting them would get your shadow to ceases & desist. zacharyamelie
I don't wanna be a meany. But maybe I should question him, I would love it if somebody else questionned him about the copycat thing..hint, hint..cough,cough. Any members who love to pick a fight out there? I just don't want sound like I'm king shit if I question him on his lack of originality and his obvious love for both Koogles' and my auctions. stormspell
Well, I dont think you will accomplish anything by reporting him to eBay. The one thing you could do is watermark your pictures, so he cannot steal them.
Delbert
Dave....start putting up more MP3 links in your auctions.....see if he tries to link to your MP3 samples you have posted??? When he does, your auction finishes......take down the link and leave him high and dry. Now that would be awesome!!!!

I'd actually like to put some MP3 samples in my auctions, but can't figure out how to do so. Koogles has given me some hints, but when it comes to computers I ain't so good. Hey T-Bone, the Milli Vanilli cd sells for like 20$ and I once sold a Menudo cd for over 50$. Just goes to prove people will buy just about anything. Or even better make a recording saying "This mp3 was stolen from zacharyamelie's auction. This seller is a thief, do not buy from him"

zacharyamelie
The copycat is back at it again. I'm getting sick of this guy. Here is a cd I sold 3 days ago http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...fromZR40QQfviZ1 Now here is the copycat having listed his cd today http://cgi.ebay.com/Baghdad-The-Dark-CD-Re...1QQcmdZViewItem Here is another one My description http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...02603%26fvi%3D1 His description http://cgi.ebay.com/Phil-Reynolds-Blue-Mon...1QQcmdZViewItem Honestly has he no thought of his own? glam_junkie
one of those looked quite similar but the other was a bit different I thouhgt. personally I wouldn't let it worry you... Gotta remember that if the items are the same then the descriptions will be quite similar. I can see where you are coming from with him borrowing some of your descriptive words and listing the same influecneces or similar bands. This guy is only existing on Ebay because he sees what Tony (endangeredcds), Taki (mellowdickmusic) and I (mistdiscs) sell. He simply turns around and sells the exact same things using the near or same descriptions. He just drives me nuts, that's all.
MButt
This dude would drive me crazy too, but I also think it would be somewhat flattering, he is picking 3 of the top sellers on ebay, dave, koogles and taki, hell, I feel rejected, he hasn't even listed one thing I am selling or have sold, (wipes tear from eye), lol... by the way, got the cd dave, thanks as always to you for being an all around good guy! zacharyamelie
This seller rockpirat1973 has pulled off the best copycat of one of my listings. My auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...fromZR40QQfviZ1 His Auction a week later: http://cgi.ebay.ca/THE-ME-GENERATION-Diamo...1QQcmdZViewItem Have people simply run out of originality? 2023 Gold Donors & then Posted March 24, 2007 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted March 24, 2007 Maybe some folk are too lazy to type the info out in their own way, I dunno. Copying & pasting some and/or all of another sellers description makes it very easy, maybe too easy, for some! I think if someone copies your description word for word, the eBay police can/will/suppose to get 'em! Maybe the steeler(?) should leave a comment/acknowledgment to/for the steelie(?) showing some respect, but then again.....why do it in the first place? stormspell
This CD sold for $224 WOW! I may be wrong, but I think rockpirat1973 is actually our friend Thomas Ringseis... which makes me very much doubt if he even has the CDs he "sells" in his possession...
