  1. More proof (like you need it) that Sam sells BOOTLEGS. http://cgi.ebay.com/BRIAN-MCDONALD-GROUP-C...1QQcmdZViewItem Apparently, the words Import and Bootleg are interchangeable in Sammy's twisted universe. The REAL deal was the Sony Rewind pressing. I don't see that here. I will be contacting eBay's VERO program shortly. I wouldn't be calling Dave an "extremely minor seller" when 1. you don't see half the CDs Dave sells (because many are private transactions, off eBay) and 2. the original indie CDs he finds this year will be the Retrospect titles that wind up on green-coated CDRs in 2007. We're one step ahead of you, Sam. Always have been, always will be.
  2. And what's the picture you guys are talking about...it's not showing up. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  3. I thought this was priceless!!!
  4. Sam's getting DESTROYED over there. Compared to those posts, we were wrestlin' him and rubbin' our knuckles into the top of his head. Sad part is, he is his own undoing. He reminds me of Al Pacino at the end of Scarface. Drunk on power, ego and self-delusion. Maybe he'll fall off a balcony into a big pile of Russian bootlegs and CDRs. Ouch.
  5. I wouldn't say Seven was as bad as Wildside's second or Warrant's Ultraphobic, but it's definitely the weakest NR title in the catalog. Neverland is much more like the NR you know and love. Buy it, you'll love it!!! Feedin' Off the Mojo (1995) is worth seeking out too... even though there are lots of absences in the Night Ranger roll call, it's still way better than Seven.
  6. I don't think ditching eBay is the answer. It's still the biggest game in town. Like most games, you have to know how to play it. Low shipping, low opening bids, no reserves... these are three of the cardinal rules of eBay success. At least from my experience anyway. Having a steady flow of product also helps, and loyal bidders. You can't throw in the towel just because you have a bad week, or a bitchy customer. Persistence is the key. Okay, enough Anthony Robbins for one post!
  7. You know what ... I've been watching the 1st Spiderman movie practically on repeat play over the last few weeks as my little fella loves it..... ANYWAY James Jamison in the movie makes the difference between the two perfectly clear!!! Unfortunately I can't remember what he says !!!!!!!!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Peter Parker: Spider-Man wasn’t trying to attack the city, he was trying to save it. That’s slander. J. Jonah Jameson: It is not. I resent that. Slander is spoken. In print, it’s libel.
  8. For we Canadians, the worst part about Paypal chargebacks is unless you can provide a tracking number (which you don't get when you mail packages as oversized letters at the standard rate of $2.99), you're basically fucked and Paypal will decide in favor of the buyer. Meanwhile, to get a tracking number you'd have to pay $9 more and there's no way I'd do that for a CD under $10 or even $20. (Unless, of course, the buyer paid the extra amount which most buyers wouldn't dream of, because it's such an exorbiant Canada Post ripoff. They really need to take a look at the US model where you can send something registered for a only few dollars more.) At any rate, I've dealt with metalismylife- haven't had any problems. I have had some nasty chargebacks recently for goods apparently not received. All I can say is there's a real problem with Paypal when they will favor a claim put through by an eBay rookie (celticzz05) who just got kicked off eBay over a powerseller with 99.8% positive feedback. I lost $64 on that deal and Paypal went into my account and helped themselves. Bullshit. The only bit of satisfaction you can get is if a con artist like celticzz05 files a complaint and gets the chargeback, just go to the eBay dispute console right after and file a non-paying bidder report. It worked for me, and I got my fees back. It's even possible to do this if the bidder is still registered. But it didn't take away the sting of losing $64. Hope things work between you and metalismylife, Dave.
  9. Man, my favorites are completely different. "We Belong" is the true anthem here with an over-the-top AOR chorus. "Rip It Up" is pure Crue!! Love this disc... but not too big on Rick Hughes' prior band, SWORD.
  10. I'm still having a good degree of success on eBay... mind you, I haven't experienced any technical trouble like you Relay. Is it ebay.ca or ebay.com where this occurred?
  11. Yeah, recordjnky... instead of just pulling another empty cliche out of the air like "pot calling the kettle black", how about posting and actually saying something meaningful or something we haven't heard before? And you want to talk ugly....put yourself in the shoes of Matt from Sweet Teaze whose only souvenirs of sluggin' it out for years in dirty bars for a few nickels are a handful of memories, a few lingering fans and a CD full of songs you poured your heart and soul into... only watch these minor glories whored out before your very eyes by one man's greedy empire. You and your brother are both musicians, right? With that, I expect some understanding of the how hard musicians have to work and the labors involved with writing and recording music. But if you've somehow forgotten, let me remind you. Like Sam, I was and still am a rock keyboardist and used to spend many long nights with Cubase and Cakewalk working out sequences and arranging parts. Multiply this attention to detail and these hours of practice by 4 or 5 (as in 4 or 5 different band members). Then there's the recording process, as you're probably well aware, can be just as gruelling. Ignoring the rigors of making a CD for a moment... the financial demands can be just as overwhelming, especially for indie bands. Studio time can range from $40/hr (if you're lucky) to $80/hr+. Add to that CD manufacturing costs, marketing expenses (in the case of Sweet Teaze, the pre-internet, pre-My Space era meant a lot more pavement pounding) and the cost of touring (playing in crappy bars for next-to-nothing... now divide next-to-nothing among 4 or 5 members). Lucky just to break even, right? Well, put yourself in the shoes of Sweet Teaze. How would YOU feel if all your years of struggling to make it, all your hard hours of playing and recording, and all your sweat, blood, hopes and dreams turned up on eBay... completely behind your back, with the biggest kick in the teeth being that it's peddled in quantity by some slimy opportunist in Vegas who isn't going to pay you a dime for it. Forget who your brother is for a moment.... how would YOU feel as a musician, Aaron?
  12. Well said chocularok.... and recordjnky, we're not trying to bring him down. Sam's doing it to himself. With old-fashioned greed and lack of respect for artistic licence. I said it before and I'll repeat it for any slow learners out there: it's not about wanting to see Sam fail... it's about trying to make sure people KNOW what they're getting for their money and not getting royally B.S.-ed through a smokescreen of vague language like import and reissue. It's also about making sure the bands are aware their work is being re-released and, in the end, getting compensated fairly. Add to that reasonable prices and legitimate silver pressings... is that too much to ask? But, nope, everytime I bring these valid issues up, out come the childish insults from the RR cheap seats (and those quasi-Retrospect fence-sitters who are bold enough to defend Retrospect but too wishy washy to represent them in an official sense. To you I say- piss or get off the pot!!!)
  13. Well, I'd rather be on MY side of the law than on Sam's. It's YOU that gave me the title of police chief. But the real question is: can you afford to bail your brother out when the long arm of the law drags Sammy, kicking and screaming like a 6-year old child, off to a cold, dark jail to meet his 250-pound, tattoo-wearing cell mate named Bubba??!!
  14. You take the 5th, stating you have absolutely nothing to do with Retrospect, yet last year you were the one advertising his auctions, plugging upcoming Retrospect releases and posting your brother's responses. Doesn't sound like someone who should be (wisely) distancing himself from RR to me. And what happened to 80sMetalCollector? That guy shut up faster than an off-key American Idol contestant after a Simon Cowell "thank-you". Can you say gag order? As for these very desperate attempts at questioning the integrity of new HH member posts, this flies in the face of all those equally desperate claims a while back that it was just the same 6 flies in the RR ointment. So if it's same 6 "ebay police", it's inexcusable or if 6 new voices complain, it's equally unacceptable? Who are allowed to complain then about the shoddy service/product from RR? I didn't know there were strict codes as to who could "qualify" to voice their opinion.
  15. i don't what you are talking about concerning "defending" Sams return / guarantee policy -- there is nothing to defend - its his policy and many overlook it. i am stating what simply is. as far as other issues go, i do not work for or represent Retrospect Records so i do not speak on behalf of them. i have my opinions and so do all of you. Whether i choose to voice my opinions is up to me - but i have found that it is usually a waste of time in this forum. the bottom line is , and the FACT remains that there are the select few here that have it out for Sam and anything he has his name on. Whatever he does , there are those who will find fault and condemn him and bash him and always try and one up him, regardless of how little they actually truly know about each situation. Screw that, i don't want anything to do with people like that. What a load of bollocks... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I find it ironic that Sam and his army of sycophants are quick to defend him and pop off BEFORE the Sweet Teaze incident, but NOW when they should be clamoring the loudest in his defense, are quieter than a Habs fan after a 9-0 Leafs win. (Sorry Dave! ) Secondly, the whole bragging-about-the-fine-Retrospect-return/guarantee issue reminds me of an old Chris Rock bit. "You know the worst thing about n****s? N****s always want some credit for some shit they supposed to do. For some shit they just supposed to do: A n***a will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A n***a will say some shit like, "I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb mothafucka. What are you talkin' about? What are you braggin' about? What kind of ignorant shit is that? "I ain't never been to jail." What do you want, a cookie? You're not supposed to go to jail you low expectation having mothafucka." Rock on, Mr. Rock!!! I love that guy!!!! But my point is- Retrospect, like ANY normal, legitimate business, should have a return/guarantee policy anyway. LV KIX, I don't know where you get off saying: "Besides, if Sam did accept the return everyone would be so dissappointed." It should not be a matter of choice. He should accept the return as just a matter of good business ethics. And no, we wouldn't be disappointed. From my perspective, it's not about seeing Sam fail or lose, it's about seeing collectors win, bands who are signed to his label win and everyone out there aware of what they're getting BEFORE they send their money to Vegas. Christ, don't people gamble and lose enough money already in Vegas???? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So i take it you are assuming the ebay / record label / international CD sales police chief role? and last i checked, i didn't see Christ logged on... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As usual, you miss the point, dodge the issues and wear the clown suit. Where was this Fisher-Price wit and Playskool retort when the Sweet Teaze allegations came down? Apparently, the ostrich buries its head in the sand for the lawyers... but not for the "ebay sales police chief", as you call me.

  17. Thanks for the kind words, chocularok! Appreciate the support.
  18. I agree... Delbert and I have talked music on the phone and he's one of the most knowledgeable guys I have met. I also got the second Theatre (City Lights) from him.... never knew it existed! A class act on eBay too...
  19. First time back in a while and I see you responded. Quote me on this: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA." I see in other thread you boys got busted for bootlegging by at least one band. I thought you said "The bands are getting paid." FUCKING LIAR! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here's a Retrospect joke... What's do Silent Sam Vodka and Sam McCaslin have in common? Both are now silent, both lack in taste, both owe Russia for the origins of their product, and both can leave you feeling sick to your stomach in the morning!!!
  20. Yeah, it's definitely not like them to keep their mouths shut. Running scared and sweatin' buckets, my guess.
  21. HSF: let me put it this way. You see someone on the street getting robbed. There are several other people cheering this criminal on as he performs the act. After all, these onlookers will be getting a share of the money. You stand by, doing absolutely nothing as all this takes place before your very eyes. In fact, from your place on the sidelines, you throw in a few remarks to encourage the thief. And you feel this is right how? But then along comes someone who takes objection to this criminal act. He wants it to stop. All of a sudden, you become offended. How dare someone stir the pot and allow this injustice to stop. Moral of the story... I guess we should all just follow in line, take everything that comes our way and not question anything. Fuck that. I'd rather be disliked for exposing a wrong than admired for apathy.
  22. I see I hit a nerve. If Sam has nothing to hide, why doesn't he offer this sort of information freely? I would gladly post my address because my operation is 100% squeaky clean. And that means I can sleep at night knowing I haven't broken any laws, haven't exploited anyone's creative property and won't be spending any time being INVESTIGATED. Maybe more than the alleged "ebay Police" will be after you now, Sam. Looks like the temperature in Vegas just went up a few degrees. You sweatin' yet? I did PM the address to David. I'm sure Sweet Teaze are already in receipt of it. Hopefully, justice will be swift and severe. As for you, Aaron, I'm glad I got a reaction out of you. haha. It's so easy to wind you guys up. Keep the kind words comin'!
  23. What do you like for tunes anyway, checkeredxdemon? You stick around here long enough... we'll make you forget all about your loser dad and turn you on to some amazing music in the process!!
  24. 10,000 CDs. And to think how many he would have if he paid for every CD he won off eBay! Add a few more zeros after the "1"! So your dad is separated/divorced. Explains some of the "free time" on his hands, I guess. Sounds like he needs to get his priorities straight. Does he have a job? And if so, how many different credit card numbers does he handle/process on a daily basis?
