  1. Did he used to make you wait all day for your allowance/lunch money and then never end up giving it to you? Or is it far worse? Are there unspeakable Arwinean horrors that will make his shameful eBay exploits pale by comparison?
  2. ::1:: Ha. Definately not. ::2:: I wouldn't be suprised. Go look it up. ::3:: Actually, he never really drank at all. Atleast when I would be there. He'd have his ass in front of the computer all day, though. And I don't know if that was posted with the intention of you being a smartass. If so, it didn't work because it didn't offend me at all. I actually found it humorous. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not intended to offend! It's just 3 years of pent-up frustration spewing out in every compass direction. How old are you anyway? I'm surprised to learn that James Arwine has procreated. At worst, I thought he might be a deadbeat dad or something, given his deadbeat bidding tendencies.
  3. James Arwine's daughter!! The plot thickens!! If you are indeed his daughter, a few quick questions: 1. Is there a shortage of postage stamps in Red Lion, PA, that prevents your dad from sending payment for CDs he wins on eBay? 2. Is his name registered in the Guiness Book of World Records for the most number of different credit cards owned? 3. How many drinks does your daddy throw back before bidding on eBay? koogs
  4. I agree 100%. I'm tired of it too. It was fun getting 'em all riled up though.
  5. Fair enough....I could have left your name out of the comment and still used it. I'll use better descretion next time, your point is taken..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks man. No hard feelings.
  6. Leave me out of the post next time if you don't want confrontation.
  7. JLPRocks.... would you do everyone a favor and keep your mouth shut. That *on a side note* was completely off-side, has nothing to do with this thread, and proves that you love to pick fights on this board. I had nothing to do with this particular thread until YOU opened your piehole and dropped my name and PJ's. Now I'm involved. Two words- shut up. I even gave RR a thumbs-up on a recent thread, but you seem so obsessed with negativity that you'll overlook a compliment in favor of digging up the same old crap whenever you can get a chance. 80smetalcollector... your side-note was even more ridiculous and uncalled for. I never once stated that Sam had a Russian CD factory. Looks like you need to get your facts straight. And look- you want to pick a fight by dragging me into this thread- you got one. I was sitting this one out, trying not to get involved. After all, this whole childish issue is getting pretty old for participants and spectators alike, but looks like you and JLP have nothing better to do with your time than to stir the pot. Dan, bounce these two clowns out the door.
  8. Credit where credit is due... the finished product looks impressive and very professional. This is certainly a step in the right direction for Retrospect.
  9. Where are the contradictions? When do I ever change the story? Show me one example. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh boy... you want contradictions? I could write a contra-DICTIONARY of all the examples from you, Self-Aggrandizing Moron (that's SAM for short). Where do we begin... so many Retrospect-related contradictions, so little time. Okay, here's CONTRADICTION #1 Jan 21 2006 to Dave of Sun City Records: "Your piddly-ass $4 per disc (royalty) is a joke and will lose you a contract every time" Well, I did some research and learned that the band Fire Dept. was offered $2.50 a disc for a Retrospect re-issue of their CD. (And they declined, by the way.) CONTRADICTION #2 Jan 20 2006 to Kevin of Kidd Wikkid: "I will personally recommend to Sam that he should re-issue Kidd Wikkid with or without your permission Wikkid1" and just a day BEFORE you said: "To even suggest that he would bootleg Kid Wikkid's album without their knowledge is just insane." On to CONTRADICTION #3: Jan 19 2006 to Dan of HH: "Defcon and the other bands are seeing a nice cut of $15-$18" Meanwhile, back on planet earth, Defcon sells for $17.99 on Retrospect's site. How can they get $18 if the CD itself only sells for $17.99??? CONTRADICTION #4: Nov 29 to Nostromo: "If you are anal about having silver cd's then shame on you for not supporting the bands - it is always the music that counts , not the packaging." Silver-backed CDs ARE, in most cases, the real things. Assuming the correct royalty mechanisms are in place, how can you NOT support the band by buying their silver-pressed CDs? Legitimizing green-tinted copies is giving CD burning the validity it DOESN'T deserve and it's the fastest and most effective way to NOT support the band/label/industry. I could go on....
  10. Looks like you are SAM after all. See why I didn't want to make the phone call, folks? You can all see the B.S. before your very eyes... now can you imagine PAYING a long distance phone company to have it fed into your eardrum? No thanks. This kind of outburst brings you to a new low, Sam.
  11. Are you kiddin' me? I'm not paying long distance charges to Vegas (or Russia) to be insulted over the phone by Sam or one of his paid henchmen. Either he can talk it out on this forum like a grown-up or keep his mouth shut. Unless he has a 1-800 number... 1-800-VEGA-SCD... first minute is free, $39 for each additional minute. LOL! What kind of high horse does he think he's on anyway... fielding questions like a president at a press conference? I get his number, I'll forward it directly to the RIAA!!!!
  12. "Burt doesn't know squat about Retrospect just like you don't. And your comments are like the pot and the kettle so you should probably STFU while you're behind." Burt forwarded me what you said about your royalty rate. These aren't his words I'm repeating... they're yours. And maybe if you didn't change your story every 10 minutes... you'd be able to better keep all your contradictions and doubletalk sorted out. If I knew more about Retrospect, I think I'd probably have an even LOWER opinion than I already do (if that's even possible). "If RR isn't successful then how are there over 100 releases? Because Sam is LOSING money? If RR isn't successful then why do buyers keep returning for more rarities? Doesn't take a genius to figure that out does it?" How could Sam lose money when he charges so much for all his hard work in front of the Kinko's color copier or his 32X CD burner? I never said he was losing money or unsuccessful. Again, you miss the point. And when his target market are those people who just want the music on CD and don't care about legitimacy, how much the bands are getting paid, what color the CDRs are or how faithful the artwork is replicated... well, that's his meal ticket, isn't it? "If RR isn't successful then why are there 80 releases coming out in the next 3 months?" Again, I never said anything about RR's level of success. That is not the issue here. Don't begin to confuse business success with business ethics. "And if UNSUSPECTING buyers are getting the cd's from ebay and are not happy why aren't the negs piling up in droves? Just like the Russian thing. Sam has been selling them for 5 years and has over 55000 positives , but if all he sells is boots how is this possible?" Back to my point in my earlier post... vegas deals with a COMPLETELY different clientel than Dave (Zacharyamelie), PJ (KMD) or I do. We cater to collectors who build their CD collections with certain criteria/certain standards in place. VegasCDs obviously caters to a market that simply wants to hear music on a CD, and can overlook the fine print (CD-Maximum or IROND) or the green-tinted playing surface. These Russian CDs are $2-3 a piece (incl. shipping) and can be easily obtained from Russian suppliers... I know, for a fact, PJ found this out first-hand but, at the end of the day, had more respect for the TRUE collectors/buyers out there than to fill the market with these bootlegs. And even if he did sell them, he would have had the decency to state their origin, instead of simply typing IMPORT into the eBay ad. "Jesus Christ Tony , use your fucking brain every once in a while - or does that hurt?" <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am using my brain, SAM.... that's why my posts bother you so much. I'm on to you. And the only thing I'm left asking is if you recycle those panties of yours after you get them in a knot, or do you simply throw them out?
  13. Sam/80sMetal Collector... fix my feedback? My feedback percentage is 99.8%. Yours is 99.7%. If you want to play this "my dick is bigger than yours" childish nonsense, I have you beat. Now who's jealous??? The royalty % in Burt's email was a DIRECT quote from you. Sounds like you can't get your own facts straight. Just like you confuse supply and demand with supply and GULLIBILITY. The fact that those CDs are supposedly selling like proverbial hotcakes isn't because people want them... it's because they THINK they want them. Little do these unsuspecting bidders/buyers realize, they're getting little more than a CD copy for an exorbiant price tag. You can continue to spout your childish insults and comments about me being "jealous" and "envious"all you want... the TRUTH is... you don't know me at all. We don't even compete in the same arena... vegas/retrospect sells CDs made in Russia/Vegas/Kinkos from 2005/2006, Endangeredcds sells ORIGINAL CDs from their ORIGINAL years of release. Apples and oranges, night and day... Next time you make a post, do us all a favor, Sam/80sMetalCollector, and use your brain and check your FACTS... rather than trotting out the same 4 tired insults over and over again.
  14. Funny... how is the royalty rate $4 a disc when I got an email from Burt earlier this week, that quoted Sam stating the bands got $2.50 a disc? Something doesn't add up here. I mean, you sell a CD for $30, for example (which seems par for the course in Retrospect's world, which are set at 2034 prices, but oh well). The band gets $2.50 of $30. That's 8%. Hmmm.. if the band got $1 on a properly priced $11 disc on Wounded Bird (for example), it would STILL be a higher royalty rate (9%) than what they're getting now. Looks like Sam is sticking it to the bands just as hard as he's sticking it to collectors. Every time I go to Retrospect Records and see the words "under new management" at the top of the page... I keep hoping the business has changed hands yet again, and Sam has sold it to someone more ethical.
  15. Fair market value for a re-issue is $10-15. Fair market value for a CD-R is $1-2. 80sMetalCollector... I don't know what is weaker... your grasp on economics or logic. Supply and demand? I don't see a real lack of supply when there's a CD burner in Sam's basement and Kinko's (and their color copiers) are open 24 hours. Imagine the demand if 1. the CDs were silver pressed (all of them) 2. the prices were right and 3. the owner sheds his greedy, Montgomery Burns-esque image. A quote from the show. Smithers (80sMetalCollector): "I'm afraid we have a bad image, sir... Market research shows people see you as something of an ogre..." Burns (Sam): "I ought to club them and eat their bones..."
  16. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Without getting into a big debate about it, I personally think the green-tinted ones should be priced differently than the silver ones.
  17. Brad held NR down well in the 90s when they were down to just a power trio. The whammy bar style is cool, but can't compete with Jeff's five-finger technique. Solo album for solo album, I'll take Around the Sun over Gilrock Ranch any day. It's a tough call though, two totally different styles... Brad with the melody, Jeff with the technique. It's a coin toss here, but I went with Jeff.
  18. One of the "most respected" sellers out there? HAHA , why don't you ask around to certain people who got fucked over by him and see how 'respected' he really is....PHANTOM PARK ANYONE? Burt , like David , you , T-Bone , Zachary , Stormspell and David, is just another envious little prick who will try anything to bring down RR. Conveniently asking for original copies of the cd and then , when told it was being re-issued, does nothing but talk shit about a company he knows nothing about...kind of a re-hashed and tiresome theme held by about a half-dozen of you. And Tony , you are the LAST one to be spouting off about hypocrisy. Just accept the fact that RR will be around for a long time and there is nothing that you and your underhanded cohorts can do to change that. One more thing...for a company that is doing nothing but selling boots , isn't it amazing that VegasCDs has a better feedback record than KissmyDisc and EndangeredCds combined? You ought to smell your own shit once in a while Tony , it does actually stink. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 80sMetalCollector/Sam... I just figured out why your Friction and Rock Blvd "re-issues" have a green-tinted playing surface. They're green with envy from the REAL CDs sold at KMD and endangeredcds! And, by the way, thanks for the "retrospect"-ive style insults... the fecal references indeed have a retro feel to them... reminiscent of second grade on the playground all over again.
  19. I think I'd buy a ticket on that train... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree in part... but, at the same time, I just can't sit back and watch a guy like Burt (whose been nothing but generous to me over the years) get ripped up and pissed on. And then have Aaron do an about-face at the end like he's this unifying force and the glue that's keeping this scene together.
  20. I believe SURFF is Burt out of Hawaii. One of the best and most respected collectors out there. My experiences have been nothing but positive as he's been very generous with his music, turning me on to many new bands that I wouldn't have otherwise heard. A total asset to the scene, if you want my opinion. Which is more than I can say about Aaron's post. Come on, recordjnky... you come across like a windbag, bashing Burt for several paragraphs, and then turn around and say you don't want to make enemies and close with a "why can't we all get along?" group hug... HYPOCRISY at its finest, folks.
  21. I went with IMAGINOS and just won an Imaginos T-shirt on Ebay!!! YEAH!!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1
  22. What Dan???? Steve Plunkett's "My Attitude" NOT a Def Leppard sounding release? Go listen again, and make sure you give "So Mysterious" a close ear. TOTAL Def Leppard! Pretty much "Promises" 9 years early. "Think About It" is also Joe Elliot style singing to a tee. Just my opinion.
