  1. Which singer, whose ego took a backseat to Yngwie's guitar, do you prefer? (Not necessarily their performance on the Yngwie album(s) they sang on, but your impression of the vocalist overall) Sorry about the failed HTML tags!!

  3. STARZ... I just sent you a PM. I really feel bad for directing my comments at you. I did not see a previous (highlighted) QUOTE in your post, so I thought it was a first-hand remark. It was early this morning when I fired that response off and I must have been half asleep. I do apologize again for the comments. Way out of line and I hope you can forgive me for the outburst. I sincerely hope it will not prevent you from speaking your mind here in the future. However, I still stand by these sentiments, NOT as they pertain to you, Starz, but rather to appropriate parties to whom they apply.
  4. Sorry about that one, STARZ. Misread the post.
  5. Wow, 80sMentalCollector... if you think there are ONLY six people who oppose Sammy's apple cart of bootlegs, overpriced CD-Rs and other worthless junk items, then you are truly living in a your own blind spot. You might THINK there are only six because only half a dozen speak out against him, but I can assure you, there are DOZENS more who feel EXACTLY the same as we do. So word to the not-so-wise, unless you want to be called Iggy around here (that's short for Ignoramus), quit your yappin'. You don't know the half of it, nor even the quarter of it, so keep those poorly-researched little statistics to yourself. There are 4 reasons why Retrospect sucks and here they are, listed as FACTS because that's what they are. And each one of these FACTS I can support with proof. That's what makes them FACTS. FACT #1. Sam sells Russian bootlegs (don't let the word import fool ya) on eBay. Stormspell's post nicely supports what I have to say about this. FACT #2. Several reissues on Retrospect Records ARE CD-Rs. Friction "Baby Talks", Rock Boulevard... I could go on. You press them on green-tinted discs, they're CD-Rs, ok? And I'm sure the color copier at Kinko's needed a toner refill after the artwork was generated. And how about those little kiddie scissors he used to cut the inserts? Were they orange or blue? Does the local pre-school know they're missing? FACT #3. Sam has sent me and others who oppose him threatening and obscenity-strewn emails. No way to do business... not that I would anyway. FACT #4. Sam overcharges for his reissues. Name one other vendor out there (yes, include those big bad European labels, too, 80sMentalCaseCollector!) that sells CDs or CD reissues for $39.99 a piece. You can't, because they don't exist. If the other guys sell for $10-12 and Sam sells for $39.99-$49.99, can you say RIP OFF? Notice, 80sSammyProtector, that I have not stated anything about whether or not Sam rips off his bands or not. Why? Because I have no proof of that, and unlike yourself, I know when to keep my mouth when all the facts are not (or not yet) available. But when I do have the facts in front of me, and I feel others who think the same way I do could benefit from these facts (avoid being ripped off or deceived), then yes, I speak my mind. And if speaking my mind based on FACTS is considered bashing, then I'm not BASHFUL and never will be. Until Retrospect can stand up, play fair and start behaving like a REAL label, I'll maintain my right to be as negative as I want to be.
  6. More red flags than a busload of Chinese patriots Can you spot all 10? (answers below) 1. Too good to be true titles 2. Paypal not accepted 3. Zero feedback 4. Only been on eBay since Jan 9, 2006 5. Exorbiant shipping costs 6. Scans are copied from the web 7. 3-day listings: indicates quick cash grab 8. Use of the words "mint condition copy"- later justifiable if selling a "copy" and not the original. 9. Nothing in the auction ad to deny/repute the CDs are burned copies or bootlegs. 10. We don't know him/her/it here on Heavy Harmonies.
  7. He's known as James Arwein there. Nickname: The Weiner.
  8. If eBay suspensions didn't exist, here's what James Arwine's feedback profile would resemble: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...&userid=wer_ich
  9. Yeah, the Friction reissue made me go "Holy shit... what is that?"
  10. I've never said PJ's prices were low, but at least they're getting legitimate (often first-run) pressings for their money, many of which are of Japanese origin. And they know what they're getting. People recognize these Japanese pressings as the sonically superior collectibles they are, and don't- and will not- accept flimsy substitutes.
  11. 80smetalcollector... are you just vacationing up in Sam's ass, or do you actually live there?
  12. The Friction "reissue" was a joke. Green-tinted disc, not even a hint of remastering in the music and a front insert that could have been done during a graveyard shift by a bleary-eyed, pimple-faced Kinko's employee on a coin-operated color copier. And that's what your $40 will buy you in Vegas. With Wounded Bird, you're getting a 10X better product for less than a third of the price. Simple fact. And I don't give a damn if Sam is getting rich or not.... a sucker is born every minute on eBay. The same place that gives those Russian 2-on-1 CDs the time of day, but won't allow you to leave positive feedback with the words "Faster Pussycat" in the comment due to eBay's policy on "vulgarity".
  13. "Green" being what you need to afford just one. Lots of green. You can buy 3 or 4 Wounded Bird reissues for the price of a single reissue from some other vendors. Hmmm... $40 for one CD, or $40 for 3 silver-pressed CDs?
  14. A few novelties that come to mind: PARANOIMIA- The Art of Noise feat. Max Headroom! DON'T CALL ME DUDE- Scatterbrain THE CURLY SHUFFLE- Jump in the Saddle YOU LOOK MAHVELOUS- Billy Crystal RAPPIN' DUKE- Shawn Brown (John Wayne raps!) CITY OF CRIME- Tom Hanks & Dan Akroyd rap! THE SUPER BOWL SHUFFLE- The Chicago Bears '85 rap!! As you can see, rap and novelty once went hand in hand!!
  15. Even with his feedback being private, you can still see the barrage of negatives he has received in the past month.
  16. Believe it or not, Arwine actually paid me for his CHEEZBOY CD yesterday. BUT... I had already offered it to the second high bidder who accepted. Even though the second high bidder has yet to pay for the CD, I'd rather give it to him than Arwine whose shftr2nd46 alias-of-the-week was banned, sort of nullifying the transaction anyway. I refunded Arwine's Paypal payment. I suppose it's a rare occasion to see any Arwine money coming in, and I should have printed, laminated and framed my copy of his Paypal payment because it's probably a one-of-a-kind. But my instincts told me to decline his payment, as he has declined so many invoices and payment requests himself over the years. Now, hopefully, he'll know how it feels to expect something... and never receive it. And if sour grapes make a bitter Ar-wine, then so be it. koogles
  17. Here's an email I sent James and then his reply is below. I've had better luck than most with Mr. Arwine, but if he fails to pay, I'll be less merciful next time. If you read his reply, some might find it startling that James possesses an I don't care attitude... Just a quick email to make sure you got my invoice for the CHEEZBOY CD and intend to pay. There's a thread on a site called Heavy Harmonies dedicated to you... must be flattering huh? However, the consensus on the thread is that you buy on eBay and don't pay. I was just wanting to make sure that was untrue and that you will be making good on your high bid. Drop me a line, ok, or make a paypal payment for this rare CD. Thanks James Tony endangeredcds yes...you will be paid via paypal this week for the cd...thanks...and you can tell all of your heavy harmonies buddies that I could care less about the thread....
  18. Hey Mike... and anyone else who is waiting for payment from him. This was the last I heard from 11jean11 after filing a NPB dispute with him. He sent it on Oct 12. "I am in Europe travelling and moving around alot. I am very sorry I couldn`t make payment right away , but there is no worry, I buy alot on Ebay and I am making arrangements for the payment to be made within the next 2 days. Thanks so much. 11jean11" I gave him 12 days and another response after this update, but it appears he may be having a little TOO MUCH FUN in Europe!
  19. He just got NARU'ed right after I placed my request for final value fee. Does eBay automatically suspend after X number of final value fee requests are filed?
  20. Did you contact the seller? Obviously, the cosmetic and condition flaws should have been mentioned in the auction ad. This CD definitely does not sound "MINT". I'd try to work out something with the seller first before handing down a neutral or negative decision. Consider the supreme irony of your transaction though... "No More Dirty Deals"
  21. JLPRocks... for someone who is trying to give the "whole picture", you're failing miserably as usual. I have never taken random potshots at Sam... quite the opposite. On any given day, I open my inbox to see Sam responding quite negatively and defensively about something that I have posted on HH. In true Sam fashion, his logic is sketchy and his obscenities fit nicely into my trash folder. And childish ignorance is always an integral part of any Vegas verbal rampage. He likes to not only take random shots at me, but PJ as well, often in the space of a single, rambling paragraph. Now you want to talk about sputtering unprovoked attacks for no reason... ask your loverboy Sammy about his cheap shots at everything from PJ's car to his CD prices. And this is in an email sent to me!! JLP- maybe you should get to know this slimebag friend of yours first before defending his actions and character. You, like the RIAA, the musicians on the CDs he "reissues", and the rest of the world in general, only knows a fraction of what Sam's up to. Sam's reputation for dishonesty has obviously seeped into your relationship with him as this latest allegation that I have time in my busy schedule to send him random shots of antagonism is absolutely ludicrous. I have better things to do... and better company to keep.
