  1. You'll find no bigger fan of who they were and no bigger opponent of who they've become than yours truly (pretty sure I've mentioned that here hundreds of times the past 13 years I've been a member of this site). I graduated from high school in 1986, so I was THE target audience for Bon Jovi during their hey-day, and I played the living shit out of those first four albums. I spread the gospel of Bon Jovi everywhere I went! SWW and NJ were absolutely perfect albums for their time. It doesn't bother me so much that Jon has moved-on found a new target audience... What bothers me is his absolute disdain for the past. Kinda ruins the memory of it all for me. Like your high school girlfriend posting on facebook how disgusted she feels looking at those old prom photos.
  2. Got hooked on TIME RUNS WILD from "Dream A Little Dream." Very cool tune!
  3. You're the man, Jez. I'd given-up looking and never knew it had been officially released. Just bought it on amazon USA. Thanks, man!!!!
  4. We all have different musical tastes, and that's actually a good thing. That said, I ******* hate these guys.
  5. Same dudes? It's hard to tell 30 years later. Loved their debut and still listen to it now and again.
  6. FANTASTIC interview... Thanks for posting. Love old-school, original insight such as this.
  7. I was first introduced to Mr. Big in the summer of 1992 when I saw them live with Hardline opening in Salem, Oregon. I was a huge fan for many years following... their new stuff has lost me somewhat, but their early albums are nothing short of fantastic.
  8. A bit off-topic, but damn I loved me some "Special Forces" and "Tour De Force: when I was in junior high school. This was right around the time we first got cable television in my neck of the woods, and MTV was brand new. I cannot begin to tell you how many hours my friends and I sat in front of the television watching Martha Quinn and the crew from 1982 - 1986 when all they did was play videos and have awesome interviews. You had to be there to fully appreciate the enormity of it all.
  9. I don't think they've hit The States, yet. Really looking forward to this one... I hope the set is here for our forthcoming Memorial Day Weekend.
  10. So, I've been listening to this one quite a bit lately and I can honestly say I haven't been this pleasantly surprised with a new album since Treat's "Coup de Grace." "UNITED" isn't just good, it's bloody-well awesome. I doubt very seriously another CD will be released this year that I'll like more.
  11. This one has me more excited than almost any "new" release. There's just a difference when it comes to a song or an album actually being written and recorded in the 80's vs. written and recorded in 2017 to try and sound like the 80's. I don't know how to explain it, exactly. The only thing that comes to mind right-off-the-bat is the difference between the smell of an actual apple pie vs. the small of a candle labeled as apple pie. It's just not the same. Anyway, I was a huge .38 Special fan back in the 80's, and naturally I love just about anything and everything The Porcaro's are a part of (not to mention Dan Huff). That full-length track MR is fantastic. I pre-ordered my copy this morning.
  12. Received and listened to UNITED this weekend. It's AWESOME! Perhaps the most complete melodic rock album of the year for me.
  13. If Joey and Neal are on guitars, Castronovo on drums and Jensen on bass I'll be all over this one!
  14. Off the top of my head, Skid Row is one of the very worst.
  15. I like the Dio and JLT incarnations of Rainbow very much (and Bonnet, too).
  16. Heck, there never would have been a Condition Critical. Quiet Riot would simply be remembered as that "Sunset Strip band Randy Rhoads played with before joining Ozzy," and most likely little more than that. I really was a fan back in the day, too, so I'm not trying to slag on the band or diminish their success... They were just really lucky to find Wonka's Golden Ticket inside that Slade LP
  17. Yeah, I would too, but I doubt I'd like a radically different version. Some songs are great as they are and screwing with them too much just ruins the attempt. Nice to hear some beefed up versions though. I find it interesting that a metal band could have recorded this song (maybe one of the 3 I posted above) and it never went anywhere because it wasn't done by a band who was already huge. Every now and then I discover hidden gems like this. Songs that are amazing and should have been massive hits bit never got picked up. I suppose QR's versions of Cum On Feel The Noize and Mama Weer All Crazee Now are pretty good example of this. I just read an interview with Frankie Benali where he was asked if he met Slade, and he said he met the bass player who was cold, and turned out the whole band were cold about QR getting the accolades, even though whoever wrote the songs got the lion's share of the cash. And wasn't Quiet Riot cold about doing the covers in the first place? While I certainly enjoyed me some QR back in 1983 / 1984, I feel confident in my opinion that if it weren't for Cum On Feel The Noise we absolutely would not be discussing Quiet Riot some 35 years later.
  18. That's because you didn't see the band with Steve Perry.
  19. ...and if you wanna get just a bit edgier (harder), but still AOR in my opinion, this one ******* rules!
  20. Oh I'm so gonna buy that album! What an awesome song. Showing my ignorance I know as Journey are such a massive AOR band who my partner just said we've actually been to see live but still they are new to me And they made the PERFECT video to accompany the song. My God I wish I could experience this for the first time all over again!
  21. Oh I'm so gonna buy that album! What an awesome song. Showing my ignorance I know as Journey are such a massive AOR band who my partner just said we've actually been to see live but still they are new to me New? Just buy Escape....the pinnacle of AOR. Oohh, is that better than Frontiers? I consider it the best Melodic Rock / AOR album of all-time.
  22. Oh I'm so gonna buy that album! What an awesome song. Showing my ignorance I know as Journey are such a massive AOR band who my partner just said we've actually been to see live but still they are new to me New? Just buy Escape....the pinnacle of AOR. Absolutely the Mt. Everest of the genre.
  23. If I were trying to explain AOR to a teenager, for instance, I'd toss Frontiers on the turntable (trying to stay as period-correct as possible) and play FAITHFULLY. "That, son, is AOR."
  24. I've listened to this one straight-through multiple times the past week or so during my daily commute, and while it's very good in places, it lacks the "ummmph" of the debut (which I loved and listened to about as much as any CD in the early 90's). It's very possible (likely) my musical tastes have changed the past 25 years, but I'm also pretty sure if today were 1992 rather than 2017 I'd still prefer the debut, and by a wide margin.
