  1. So glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. The iPod generation doesn't understand and or 100% doesn't care, Lemonhead. "Louder the better" they say. Umm, isn't that what a VOLUME knob is for? Anyway, despite me not being able to turn this one past (2) on my vintage Kenwood home stereo system, I absolutely LOVE the content. This album is superb!
  2. I've now grown to REALLY liking this one. Still not late 80's / Early 90's DRN (more like Dan Reed singing for Generator in 1997), but it's really good!
  3. I like that new track quite a bit.
  4. Absolutely loved PBF back in the day. I discovered L.B.W.E.T. quite by accident when the cassette tape was playing in the store while I was in Musicland at the local mall sometime in 1990. I played the hell out of that tape the next couple years. They've pretty much been recycling a majority of those original tunes ever since. On a somber note, I took part in the estate sale of Vinnie Chas after he passed away. I drop-in estate sales whenever I see the signs during the weekend, and his house was one ( i had no idea until I was actually inside the house). Naturally there was a LOT of PBF memorabilia. I purchased a few things, but prices on much of it were out of this world. I mean they were asking like $10.00 each for 1990's Hit Parader Magazines, for instance. My regret is not buying the entire lot of VHS Tapes that were in his garage. My buddy bought one which simply said "MOTLEY CRUE" on the outside, and it was an audience recording of one of their gigs from the Theater Of Pain Tour. There were HUNDREDS of VHS tapes in numerous boxes out there. God only knows what I passed-up????? I think they were asking $1.00 each, but I'm sure they would have accepted less had I bought them all.
  5. Listening to my Japanese pressing now, and it's better than I expected based on the reviews, but again, Ritual this is not. Still closer to their 80's sound than anything Bon Jovi has released the past 25 years.
  6. Most unoriginal band name ever. The acronym M.I.L.F. was kinda funny, cool, hip, whatever about a decade or more ago here in the States. Now it makes me laugh sarcastically just like when I see a 40-something, over-weight, beer-league softball player wearing #69 on the back of his jersey.
  7. I have yet to hear the entire album as my copy has not arrived, but this does not surprise me... It's who Dan is and what Dan's become. Works well for him as he seems to be a very happy and content individual... Sucks for those of us who are longing for more of his his 1988 output; but those days are over. They still rock live, however!
  8. Pulled LST off the shelf for the first time in a LONG time and I remember why I liked it so damn much five years ago. This is the summer time, roll the windows down and crank it up music I remember from my high school days in the mid 80's.
  9. Been listening to this one quite a bit lately, and it's MUCH better (for me) now than after the initial two or three spins. I wish there was one more "big" track like ROCK AMERICA, but I'm certainly not complaining!
  10. You'd think so, especially in an era whereby "Reunions" are so incredibly profitable. But Jon doesn't need Richie... The Soccer-Moms who buy his new music in droves couldn't tell you the name of one other band member, nor could they care less. The only reason I bother posting in threads such as this is my incredible love affair with "The band that was" still remains strong to this very day. I may loath everything Jon and his band has become, but I'll forever defend those first four albums with all my being.
  11. I think the title is a simple metaphor. I'm guessing Jon has privately been offered MUCHO DINERO to reconnect with Richie and release a new album that harkens back to the glory days. He's made it very clear he has no interest in doing anything like that. He may be an asshole, but at least he's not a lying asshole. Thanks for the memories, Jon. Adios, amigo.
  12. So sad that the 30th. anniversary of one of the greatest albums in our genre's history will come and go without so-much as a whimper. Jon and Richie must REALLY be on pretty much f-u terms now-a-days, I suppose? This would have been the perfect time for a reunion and a SWW anniversary tour. But those days are LONG gone, and my desire to revive them is little more than wasted time. Hell, the two minutes I just spent writing this comment are two minutes while on my death-bed I'm sure I'll wish I had back. Absolutely ZERO interest in this one... none!
  13. Good tune, but I'll be damned if Punky isn't the spitting image of Caitlyn Jenner now-a-days.
  14. Damn I love this one and find myself reaching for it at least once a day. Absolutely brilliant AOR. Probably a bit soft for many of you, but if you're an old-school (Old's Cool) fan of Steely Dan, Chicago, Airplay, etc. is PERFECT!
  15. Received my copy Thursday afternoon and I've played it straight-through about 4 or 5 times now. Very enjoyable listen... I mean it's Poley so obviously I'm going to like it. But as I mentioned a couple pages back, there's just something missing... It's a little "slow" in places. I don't know, I guess I was just so spoiled with D2's debut all those years ago that nothing will ever measure-up. This one will continue to get played on my system. Solid 8 out of 10 for me.
  16. The more I listen to this one the more I like it! For lack of a better term, it's not as "Radio Friendly" as CDG, but it certainly stands on it's own merits and is a damn-fine recording. I was completely wrong being overly concerned with the "Where we are now as a band" comment.
  17. Just ordered this one from Amazon. I normally give NEH all my business, but he doesn't have this one listed on his website for some reason. Is there a backstory there?
  18. Nice guitar-driven track! Very 80's-eque with little runs, licks and fills all over the place.
  19. Not my favorite track. Musically it's nice, but this one doesn't have me shifting into 5th. gear and dropping the pedal to the floor like "Ritual" still does some 27+ years later.
  20. You're right, Geoff... I try to keep reminding myself it's no longer 1986 and I'm no longer 18... It's a bitter pill to swallow at times.
  21. Listening to this one right now with a tall glass of Jack Daniels Tennessee Fire on the rocks sitting in front of me, and you know what, this is a damn good melodic hard rock album. Not something that would have particularly enamored me in May of 1986 when I was driving my Toyota Celica to my last few days of high school, but times have changed... I've changed. Hell yes, this one is REALLY good!
  22. I've been waiting nearly 25 years for a new Dan Reed Network album... It will be interesting to see (hear) how much the band (and my taste in music) has changed after all these years.
  23. I don't know, its just... just missing something. Can't quite put my finger on it... maybe that super-slick, over-the-top, HUGE 80's production that I was (am) such a fan of. I guess I'm still hung-up on tracks like this when I think of Poley (SO DAMN GOOD):
  24. I joined in 2004 as well, but I found a comment in the Artist / CD Title page(s) dating me back to at least the fall of 2001 for hh.com. I don't think there was a separate discussion board at that time, but I could be completely wrong. Also seems to me we used to have a member number assigned as to when we registered. Again, I could be completely wrong and thinking of something else... that was a LONG time ago. I go back with PJ (Kiss My Disc, et al) to my first days on ebay when that site was brand new (sometime in 1999). Heck, I didn't even have the internet on my home computer until about 1994.
  25. Okay, now I like that one MUCH more than the first couple. Kinda new Def Leppard-esque.
