  1. Those of you outside the USA may not fully understand just how liberal and progressive Jon is. I'm not trying to start a political debate as I have no interest spiraling down that rabbit hole, but it's relevant because I think Jon's political (and worldly) views have greatly spilled over into his music. I'm not saying he's Bruce Springsteen-esque with overtly political lyrics... more along the lines that Jon is forward thinking and less apt to accept the "If it ain't broke don't fix it" mentality. I'm the complete antithesis of that mindset... and that probably contributes to my disdain for pretty everything he and his band have released dating back to about 1994. Do I want another Slippery When Wet? You're damn right I do.
  2. I'm not trying to be a dick here (especially considering I might be the biggest fan of SWW on this site), but for me, it's like 85% / 85% / 95% / 90% / 85% and then pretty much all dramatically down hill from there. To the point I rate most of the new stuff as unlistenable.
  3. I'm sure I was thinking about a CD release. Speaking of soundtracks never released on CD, how in the world was Karate Kid II not pressed on Compact Disc? I mean in 1986 CD's were at their apex. I'm going to guess it had something to due with Peter Cetera not wanting his first solo release to be in competition with itself since both "albums" included GLORY OF LOVE. Anyone know for certain?
  4. And multiple tracks from "White Water Summer."
  5. Not sure if these have been released elsewhere, but they came to mind as soon as I saw the thread title: "Holiday Road" Lindsay Buckingham "Up The Creek" Cheap Trick
  6. I assume most of you in-the-know realize just how awesome of a guitar player he is, right? Not of huge fan of his music, per se, but his skills are off the charts.
  7. Absolutely LOVED me some INDISCREET 30, so I'll look forward to this one with promise (which most of you know is something I don't normally have for my favorite 80's bands 30+ years later).
  8. 1989 - 1991... All I really needed from the band or any of its members can be fit into that tight window of time. But what an awesome three years it was.
  9. And this one was worth revisiting! There are still a LOT of CD's I was looking for a decade or more ago that have yet to find their way into my collection. It's fun see what titles others have (or have not) found since first posting back in the day.
  10. Responding to a VERY old post, I know... I actually found THE KOO at a pawn shop in Butte, Montana back in early 2002. I'm almost positive I traded in to PJ. Just checked, and an original pressing recently sold on ebay for $500.00!!! I remember not liking the CD at all, and that's why I was willing to let it go in trade. Wish I would have kept it.
  11. Just picked these ones up myself from Japan. Really good early 80's FM Radio / AOR.
  12. Sounds like the guitarist is using a kill switch (arcade style button) ala Buckethead.
  13. You want bad lyrics? Listen to the first SHAMELESS CD. Damn I love me some PBF, and that's really the only reason I purchased that CD way back when.. I dug it out last night and gave it a spin and honestly laughed out loud at nearly every track save for Backseat Action and Talk To Me. Horrifically bad lyrics. Like a third grader's love note
  14. I wouldn't particularly care for this if it was an Eric Clapton album... I certainly don't need my Working Class Dog to sound like Black Crows. **** me I miss the 80's.
  15. Dick Clark... "This is Autograph followed by Julian Lennon." I had no idea just how good I had it during my junior high and high school years from 1981 - 1986.
  16. Ahhh, the good ol' days. Damn I loved these guys back then...
  17. Sounds like a Swedish version of 7th. Heaven to me. Not bad by any means... I think I would like this one more if I were 20-something rather than 40-something.
  18. First time I heard Deen sing FAITHFULLY (like a decade or so ago) I seriously wondered why Arnel was fronting Journey...
  19. Really good dude. I think he was from Russia and teaching in Japan? Anyway, I used to buy Japanese CD's from him ALL the time as his prices were the best and his shipping was top-notch. I changed email addresses maybe 5 years back and lost all his contact information. Does anyone know how to get hold of him (email)? Thanks for your time and help.
  20. Interesting side not regarding Jennifer Batten... For those of you who do not know, she was Michael Jackson's lead guitarist for a decade or so (and she's damn good). Anyway, she now lives in here in Portland, Oregon (my home town). Why does any of this matter and how do I tie the story together? Well, her long-time guitar tech (another female guitarist) recently passed away from cancer and I was able to obtain a bunch of stuff from her estate sale (a lot of which is Jennifer Batten related). Old posters, guitar picks from MJ Tours, etc. I also purchased a LOT of old VHS guitar tutorials and such. Stuff that has been out of print for decades and or never released on DVD. Plus a stack of old late 70's and early 80's Hit Parader and other related industry magazines. Several of her guitars were also for sale, but nothing I was interested in. I did, however, purchase her 1983 Boss DS-1 Distortion Pedal in REALLY nice condition. Kind of a somber situation, but at least her stuff wasn't simply trashed.
  21. Love this type of thing! I recently listened to the Eddy Trunk interview with Joe Elliott and almost cried... If y'all remember, Lep started recording HYSTERIA with Jim Steinman at the controls, and they had a BUNCH of stuff down on tape before Steinman left and Mutt was brought into the fold. Unfortunately, ALL of the Steinman stuff was recorded-over and NONE of it remains (back then they recorded on semi-expensive analog tape). Oh how I wish I could have heard those takes.
  22. But you're still a young lad, aren't you? Those of us who were teens or early 20's when she was rocking the short, white mini-skirt in the late 1980's would still happily give her whirl I saw Vixen during the summer of 1989 here in Portland, Oregon (Portland Rose Festival) and Janet was hot as hell. Man those really were THE days!
  23. You'll be hard-pressed to find negative comments from me concerning "most" anything Dan Reed related... I've been a fan 30+ years now. That said, I (naturally) prefer DRN's more up-tempo stuff, but Dan's solo material is almost always straight-from-the-heart themed with lyrics that read like pages from his personal diary. I don't always agree with his worldly political outlook, but I give him credit for walking his talk.
  24. This one piques my interest. I was a huge Survivor fan back in the 80's, and enjoy that AOR sound much more than Jimi's more recent solo stuff and or his collaborations... and Cobra was cool. I'd like to hear some samples and try before I buy, however.
  25. No sir, I don't like it. Don't remember her playing guitar back in the day?
