  1. I don't hear Foo Fighters at all, but that's just me. I don't know the Foo Fighters that well (by choice) but this just sounds like good modern rock to me. I agree with Shamus, that this reminds me a bit of 40ft Ringo and Stereo Fallout. Maybe a little more sing/songwriter than those two, but similar vibe. I like it. Sounds exactly like FF. Vibe and style. That was my first thought. Not really my cup of tea, but I certainly respect the success FF have garnered over the years. Foo Fighters with 2 hand fulls of The Goo Goo Dolls. I don't mean to offend fans of either of those two bands, but if your description happened to be what the record company put on the promotional label of this CD I'd run the other way faster than Carl Lewis in Seoul, Korea circa September 1988.
  2. The first verse of UNDERNEATH THE STARS sounds like something from SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE by the American Idol gal.

  4. All bass players are aspiring lead guitarists, and all lead guitarists aspiring lead singers. Killed two birds with one stone here. Sounds like something from a Foo Fighters album to me.
  5. Yeah, this is total DREAM OF A LIFETIME, INSIDE OUT, PICTURE PERFECT, etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quQGUZCgR2c
  6. Go to the verse beginning at 1:05. Shit, now I got it... RON TAYLOR. This sounds EXACTLY like Lillian Axe. Actually, more like the STIFF-era vocals. Like "Number." Dead-on!
  7. DAMMIT, the lead singer sounds EXACTLY like... ???... I cannot remember the name of the band. My God, he's a dead-ringer, but for the life of me I cannot put a name to it... SHIT!!!!! Help!!!!
  8. I like Graceland a LOT, but I just listened to CDG straight-through and it's so damn awesome I don't think it's possible for Treat to top it... ever.
  9. I'm all over this one like flies on a rib-roast. Daiker is in full Generator-mode with those keys. This track could have EASILY been included on that 1997 release. Those of you in-the-know understand of what I speak. Nice start to a long awaited and passed-due album from The Network!
  10. The new Treat album is fantastic and a natural follow-up to CDG. If the year was 1987 and not 2016 I'm guessing I would enjoy The Defiants CD more than Graceland... but it's not. Easy choice for me... but thankfully it's not a "One or the other" mandate as those Defiants tracks do take me back in time.
  11. It's not bad at all, Geoff, just not suited for me. I'm just an old curmudgeon having graduated from high school way back in 1986, and I'm stuck in my ways. I almost always preface that prior to making any disparaging comment as I know the younger crowd certainly does not always (if ever) agree with my taste in music... and that's alright. It's just hard for me to appreciate anything involving Nikki Sixx that isn't Motley Crue related (especially pre-1991 Crue). I first saw them open for Def Leppard in San Diego back in 1983 (yes, nineteen eighty three) and I've been a fan ever since. I was rockin' to Shout At The Devil when most of my friends were still pretty much exclusively listening to Journey and Hall & Oates. Sixx AM is not Motley Crue... and that's hard for me to swallow.
  12. Well that's the best song I've ever heard from this band. Still not anything I'd buy, however.
  13. Blue Tears S/T... I wish ALL albums were produced as well as that one.
  14. According to Ted, Blonz covered it. Was a JLT tune?? Yes, spoke with Ted this morning and that is what he told me. JLT is his idol and has wanted to record this well before Blonz did. So, he wanted to record this one when Def Leppard was still on the Hysteria Tour then? What's 26 years among friends?
  15. Blonz's version is actually quite a bit better. This song is just so 1990 there's really no way to polish it up and repackage it for a 2016 re-release. That's four minutes of disc-time that could have been better spent elsewhere. Heck, a re-recording of "Feels Like Love" would have been more appropriate in my opinion.
  16. My only worry is that Reed and Daiker, who are both about ten steps left of even Bernie Sanders, will allow their political and ideological viewpoints to dominate the theme of this new album. I get enough political B.S. on every single news channel each and every evening, I certainly don't need my stereo telling me who I should vote for and why. Daiker, especially, is capable of writing some really dark shit. That's fine for solo projects... not a DRN release. I don't need all butterflies and cotton candy, but if I feel like listening to something dark, dreary and suicidal I'll throw-on a Nirvana album. Absolutely hoping for the best here as I've followed these guys since 1987.
  17. Hopefully they do a show in Seattle. I'd love to see them. They played Seattle just prior to Christmas. Did you miss that one?
  18. Okay, I like that track much more now after listening to it a few times. At first I found it a bit dull, but it's grown on me. The cover art, however, will NEVER grow on me. Terrible.
  19. DRN kills it live every single time. If you're an 80's fan, there's no way you leave a Dan Reed Network gig unhappy.
  20. Too bad Doc Neeson wasn't still alive.
  21. Coming-up to 30 years almost to the day that I first heard Cinderella. I seem to remember it was shortly after I graduated from high school in June, 1986 (maybe closer to the 4th. of July). Played the HELL out of the cassette for more than an entire year (along with the grandaddys of melodic rock "Slippery When Wet" and "Hysteria"). Man was 1986 / 1987 an awesome time for music in my 1976 Celica. I could wax poetic all day long talking about that magical time of my life... but I won't
  22. DRN is pretty much a "funky rock" band, so you won't find much hard rock / heavy metal crossover. If you're looking for an AOR vibe, try these:
  23. Saw the guys at their last live gig here in Portland a couple days before they started recording the new album and they sounded as good as ever. It was odd not seeing Blake behind the keyboard, but Rob Daiker is a very talented musician and fits-in well as he's been buddies with Reed and Pred for at least the past 20 years or so. Besides playing keys, he's also a fantastic singer and guitar player. DRN is one of my favorite bands of all-time. Being from my hometown of Portland, Oregon, I was lucky enough to see them live MANY times back in the day (1988 forward), and they ALWAYS put on incredible shows. And naturally they received a good bit of local attention on the radio, etc. back then... Shame they weren't better known throughout the rest of the USA. All that said, I sincerely hope the new album is a genuine DAN REED NETWORK collaboration and not simply DAN REED with the NETWORK playing the part of a back-up band (I think y'all know what I mean). I'm anxiously awaiting samples from this one.
