  1. Wow. Terribly sad. What a brave individual he seems to be. Not sure I could write so poignantly if I were in his shoes. I was a big fan of SHY back in the day... I think EXCESS ALL AREAS will be played in-full at my house this evening. God bless Tony Mills and his wife... I sincerely hope his remaining days are filled with as much joy and as little pain as possible.
  2. Loved the first two albums. I need to check this one out!
  3. Beavis & Butthead didn't just bring "Unprovoked ridicule" to the band, they literally DESTROYED Winger in the USA. Like hitting a brick wall at 100MPH type of destruction.
  4. Question for those of you in-the-know: When was DALTON - THE RACE IS ON first released on CD? Was there an actual 1987 release, or is the 1994 pressing the first? If 1987, does anyone have a photo of the disc they can post so I know for certain what to look for? I'm a first pressing nut and I REALLY need an original pressing in like new condition of this one. I often have more dollars than sense, so if someone has one they're willing to part with........... Thanks!
  5. All three of those samples sound great. My only critique is that all WOA songs sound pretty much the same... although I'm one of the first to bitch when a band I love changes direction with their sound, so I guess I should simply enjoy the ride with these guys. Truth be told, I like Lionville a bit better. Just a bit more flash from that crew... like endless guitar-fills and such. Obviously vocals are brilliant in both bands
  6. I love the concept, just not keen on the music.
  7. This is another one of those "You had to be there moments." Trying to explain just how important these rock magazines were to we teenagers at the time is next to impossible. Circus was my rock n' roll "Google" back then.
  8. I was a big-time Circus Magazine collector back in the day (1983 - 1987). I still have quite a few of them boxed-up at my place. Most are missing the centerfolds and other layouts, however, as band photos always graced the covers of my PeeChees during my high school years. I remember the racks at 7-Eleven and other local outlets stocked with the like of Circus, Creem, Hit Parader, Metal Edge, etc. during those years. This was at a time when there was no other outlet for music news (save for MTV). Those magazines were essential to me and my friends regarding new releases, tour dates, etc. Many awesome hours spent buried in those magazines during my youth.
  9. I've never been a fan of Owens (mostly because I don't particularly care for impersonators, and that's what he was in JP), but this new track is down-right good! Love me some KK and Sarzo, so I just might be in on this one.
  10. i hate the production. I hate the lyrics. Boring and mundane. Sounds like Gioeli is dressed-up in a condom outfit.
  11. That keyboard intro is AWESOME and sounds exactly like 1985 to my ears. As with most vocalists some 30+ years later, the highs aren't quite as high, and no matter how hard engineers / producers try, it's just not analog unless it IS analog. 80's slick and sultry production is what made so many of those bands sound so damn good back in the day. I like this one... 100% Must Have for me.
  12. ... and y'all who think Deep Breath bests YW&F are nuts!
  13. I dig that crunchy guitar riff. Vocals are a full step lower than they were 30 years ago, but that's to be expected. I wish this track was a bit more melodic and polished (ala "We Came To Rock"), but I readily admit I am stuck in 1986 almost every day of my life, so please accept my comment with that in mind.
  14. I was listening to Lionheart "Hot Tonight" before clicking on the link to "Countdown." Uhhh, a fairly radical juxtaposition to say the least. Sounds like a really pissed-off Kelly Clarkson singing with the band Bulldozer (The Day of Wrath) backing her up.
  15. Something about those 80's Canadian bands... I loved just about all of them.
  16. Not particularly fond of the lyrics... especially the second-tier glam-rock wannbe "Trust Fund Baby" scream. Sounds like a cheap imitation of something Big Bang Babies would have done in 1990 (I like Kelli a lot, my the way). Actually, the more I think of it, I'm reminded of a much less awesome alternate version of GNR's "Night Train." Anyway, I dig the artists quite a bit. Loved me some Sammy dating back to junior high, and of course Mikey from my grade school days. The music is good... it's just the cheesy lyrics from this first track that are like fingernails on a chalkboard to me. I'll certainly check-out the other tracks from the album, and I'm guessing this band puts on one helluva live show. Count me in for that if they come my way.
  17. Their debut album was so damn good, I still give it regular spins. I'm interested to hear what they have to offer.
  18. Every Sunday morning I listen to Casey Kasem's throwback American Top 40 on a local radio station. From 8AM to 12PM they pick a specific year from the 80's and play the corresponding week and month of the current date (as closely as possible). Today was January 28, 1984. I was a sophomore in high school in 1983 / 1984, and Quiet Riot was absolutely HUGE back then. "Cum On Feel The Noize" reached #3 on the Top 40, and on January 28, 1984 "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" debuted at #39. Why does any of that matter? It doesn't, really, except listening to that radio broadcast replay this morning I was morphed back in time to being a 15 year-old kid, and I remembered just how much I really loved Quiet Riot. All of that said, If someone sent me a free copy of this new CD / DVD, I wouldn't bother opening it. Quiet Riot will always hold a special place in my musical heart... but I am not interested in any "new" stuff without Dubrow, Sarzo and Cavazo. And since that is obviously no longer possible, I have no further interest at all... unless some long-lost 1984 soundboard concert recording magically appeared
  19. Yeah... I mean I understand Neal isn't coming back, but Joey and Deen aren't too much of a reach, and Jensen still plays in local dive bars around here in Portland. Wouldn't be all that difficult to to get them together for a couple weeks with Del Vecchio and record something for us old'skool fans. I love me some Gioelli, but aside from a few tracks here and there, Hardline hasn't been good since 1993.
  20. I don't hate it, but when I heard Phil was producing I was hoping for something more along the lines of BB Steal. "Shock" is NOT a Def Leppard tune.
  21. I seem to remember Soto stating he was not fond of the debut and would never consider an Eyes reunion. I've been a fan of that particular CD for decades.
  22. I'm guessing none of y'all will be surprised to hear me say "I do NOT like this one at all." Seems as though all of the members of this new band are running as far away from the name "Dokken" as possible... They should only be so lucky that any of us old'skool fans would mention them in the same breath. I'm going to listen to Under Lock And Key right now... I need something to put a smile on my face so early on a Monday morning.
