  9. https://www.yahoo.com/music/cranberries-singer-dolores-oriordan-dead-46-171801922.html Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan dead at 46 JILL LAWLESS Associated PressJanuary 15, 2018 LONDON (AP) — Dolores O'Riordan, lead singer of Irish rock band The Cranberries, died suddenly on Monday. She was 46. O'Riordan died in London, where she was recording, publicist Lindsey Holmes said. "No further details are available at this time," Holmes said, adding that the singer's family was "devastated" by the news. Formed in Limerick, Ireland at the end of the 1980s, The Cranberries became international stars in the 90s with hits including "Zombie" and "Linger" that fused the alternative rock edge with Celtic-infused pop tunefulness. Irish President Michael D. Higgins said O'Riordan and the band "had an immense influence on rock and pop music in Ireland and internationally." "To all those who follow and support Irish music, Irish musicians and the performing arts, her death will be a big loss," he said in a statement. O'Riordan was The Cranberries' chief lyricist and co-songwriter, and her powerful, sometimes wailing, voice was key to the band's distinctive sound. The group's 1993 debut album "Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can't We?" sold millions of copies and produced the hit single "Linger." The follow-up, "No Need to Argue," sold in even greater numbers and contained "Zombie," a howl against Northern Ireland's violent Troubles that topped singles charts in several countries. The band released three more studio albums before splitting up in 2003. O'Riordan released a solo album, "Are You Listening," in 2007, and another, "No Baggage," in 2009. The members of The Cranberries reunited that year, releasing the album "Roses" in 2012. The Cranberries released the acoustic album "Something Else" in 2017 and had been due to tour Europe and North America. The tour was cut short because O'Riordan was suffering from back problems. In 2014, O'Riordan was accused of assaulting three police officers and a flight attendant during a flight from New York to Ireland. She pleaded guilty and was fined 6,000 euros ($6,600). Medical records given to the court indicated she was mentally ill at the time of the altercation. After her court hearing O'Riordan urged other people suffering mental illness to seek help. O'Riordan is survived by her ex-husband, the former Duran Duran tour manager Don Burton, and their three children.
  10. Looks like Shane is out and a war has begun: http://metalsludge.tv/tag/shane-tassart/ LAUGHS, DRAMA & SURGERY Lies, Deceit & Treachery singer meltdown, “I’m out”, band reacts Facebook — Who needs reality TV when we have reality internet. Lies, Deceit & Treachery singer Shane Tassart has took to his personal Facebook to unload his feelings on some recent happenings within the group. The back story is that Lies, Deceit & Treachery were (reportedly) offered a spot on the Monsters Of Rock Cruise in February. But Tassart notes in his post that he has to have surgery during the same timeframe. In a nutshell it appears that there is a band break up and here are the dirty details from the members themselves. “As many of you know, I have a tumor that is being removed in February. The monsters of rock cruise is also in February. A gig that has never been offered and there is no contract for. That being said the three other members of LDT want to play this gig so bad that instead of waiting for me to heal they are choosing to replace me.” wrote Tassart The band is made up of Mick Sweda on guitar, Lonnie Vencent on bass and Jimmy D’Anda who are 75% BulletBoys and 100% rock veterans. All have appeared in other signed and touring projects dating back to mid 80’s with King Kobra and in recent times with D’Anda slammin’ cans for Lynch Mob. Tassart has been toiling around the scene for many years as well, but never reached the level of his bandmates, who he refers to as “the rockstars” in his recent rant and claims the ride (band) was “driven by backstabbing and drama.” Tassart continues: “I told each of them if they used someone else on such a high profile gig I am out. I thought we were a band but found out again that they are the rockstars and what I did in the band was unimportant and anyone could do what I did. I am heartbroken but relieved.” The singer ends his rant with a thank you to fans and adds; “I’m out.” Tassart’s original post has now been removed, but not before it stirred the pot. D’Anda reacted with the following on his Facebook page: “Unfortunately the singer for Lies Deceit & Treachery has opted out of being in the band , though he sees it differently is besides the point .. I see a lot of hate on his page and that’s understandable when relationships come to an end… I just want to put it out there that I’ve always considered you my friend and always will, it’s just unfortunate that things went this way. I wish you and your family nothing but the best in the future.” Sweda a man of few words, but many riffs writes: “As for recent events, I will say this: In the frantic rush to judgement, one need not break a sweat or even arise. One need only stroke a few careless keys to feel empowered enough to display the full depth of their ignorance.” Tassart on the other hand has posted ten times and writing things like: “I am fine and know that I will be singing in public sooner than later. It just won’t be with those guys. Am I hurt and upset? Very much so but I will get over it. I always do.” and “I know that by closing a door, it left one to open for something even greater. It was a stepping stone.” Lies, Deceit & Treachery have updated their official Facebook page with an image of the 3 members, minus Tassart. 11. This one was an interesting find. I took a chance on this at while I was down the shore in 1988. Had no idea who these guys were or what they'd sound like. I was pleasantly surprised in the end. Glammy hard rock with some memorable choruses. Became one of my favorites from 1988! Here's a few tracks:
  12. Steelers lose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WooooooHoooooooooooooo!!!!!!
  13. Yeah, I agree. The verses still kill song #3, although the chorus is catchy. Those are some weird titles. I can't say that I really like any of the 3. Doesn't bode well I'm afraid.
  14. Still holding strong in my rotation. Fantastic lead single.
  15. I'm with you. Big fan of Deliverance but they totally lost me after that.
  16. from various internet sources: POINT RIOT is a relatively new band from Sweden. The guys released a promising EP last year and now are back with a full length album titled "Dead Man's Hand". The four-piece are all about classic things in traditional hard rock, with a straight twin guitar attack and powerful vocals. Point Riot's hails from Sweden, but in terms of sound they come out like the classic hard rock style from Germany, with some 'Americanisms' here and there. Title track 'Dead Man's Hand' starts the proceedings with groovy riffs, raspy vocals and a stadium-ready chorus plenty of fist-in-the-air 'ohh-ohs'. The rhythm section feels oiled and there's lots of swirling guitar licks and wah-wah pedal effect. The tandem riffs in 'Time' and 'Let Me Go' are where Point Riot sounds German to my ears with some Sinner on it, on the other hand, 'Raise Your Hands' reminds me of a WASP track, anthemic and heavy yet plenty of melody. It happens that, at places, singer Ted Friberg sounds like Blackie Lawless. 'Moonstruck' adds a bit of modernity with darker riffs, 'Sweet Addiction' brings another load of groove, 'Falling' returns to the Teutonic classy feel, and the short closer 'Heartbreak City' sports another 'shout it out' chorus not far of some WASP from the '80s. While Point Riot has a lot to improve, the quartet has the chops and the classic hard rock lesson well learned. An external producer with experience in this matter could make wonders with this band. Let's see if Point Riot can make it big in the near future. Good stuff. 01 - Dead Man's Hand 02 - Moonstruck 03 - Raise Your Hands 04 - Time 05 - Sweet Addiction 06 - Let Me Go 07 - Eighteen 08 - Falling 09 - Heartbreak City Ted Friberg - Lead Vocals, Guitar Anders Pålsson - Guitar Rickard Ekvall - Bass, Vocals Morten Petersen - Drums BUY IT ! www.facebook.com/commerce/products/648425808615277 .
