  1. Are they still South American pressings eg. Icarus?
  2. Seems like buying and trading has died as there's very little chatter about it. For those of us still buying music in physical formats can you post where you're getting your fix? Most of mine these days are online via Japan (cdjapan) or eBay to find the version/pressing I want. No more stores that I feel the need to support locally since Realm of Kaos here in Melbourne closed up a while ago. I do check out JB HiFi from time to time but can't remember the last time I purchased a CD from them. I guess we all speculated but it feels like 'that ' time has fully set in where the physical format and all that came with its popularity has gone and digital has taken over......
  3. I wouldn't call Graceland a 'great' album but it could be just me. Maybe I'll do one of those complex Pythagoras theorem calculations on it. Anyway, I did put Kane Roberts w/Desmond Child on this list to record another album. It made me think how much better he made bands that had a style, gimmick, image etc. better. For instance look what he did for Alice Cooper with Trash, yeah some fillers but the good tracks are great. He kept the sass and sleaze of Aerosmith and helped pen their 2 best reunion era songs in Dude and Rag Doll. On the flip side there are countless bands and artists he helped out that were just your run of the mill vanilla and, well, they stayed vanilla but with slightly better songs.
  4. You have to wonder how much $ this will make them? They've done everything in this business, worked with virtually everyone and obviously don't really like each other..... so why?
  5. Martinson could be over doing it. How many good songs can you write in a year? New songs for: Eclipse Ammunition Hitchcock Also, are we going to get 3 versions of the new Eclipse album? Maybe the re-release with be released first? One of these is going to be a bit crap like Aniday (Hitchcock), one will ruined by collaboration (Ammunition) and the last will be stellar (Eclipse). Am sounding like a cranky old man these days. I really should be looking fwd to all 3.
  6. Even when Great White were good they were always kind of boring. Weird that they lasted so long. Once Bitten is their second best but Psycho City rules for me. Very good CD but even then never feel the need to put it on. Always so safe, over produced and lacking spark.
  7. Geoff is no fan, sure the last one wasn't that great but 6 tracks kick ass and they're not like any other band going around at the moment which makes those tracks even more special. I dig all the reanimate cover albums and this one has an awesome track list. Looking forward to it!
  8. I don't get that vibe. I get a very Four the Hard Way feel throughout. A blistering opening 5 tracks are probably better than anything on the Treat album.
  9. No, not when you lived through it as an 18 yr old. I see your point though I bought dress you up by Madonna when I was 12. It was on the radio all the fkn time. It was like if Huey Lewis recorded 15 versions of the power of love and put it on one album. No wonder the kids got so angry, started taking hard drugs instead of partying and drinking and then start singing about how unhappy they were. It's Bryan Adams fault Nirvana exploded. Well maybe Mutt Lange's coz he did the same thing with Shania Twain! He made it sickening to listen to people being happy
  10. I also hope there's more but Ghost is so plodding and I find it starts badly. Not that the songs are bad, just slow with no real build or highlights. Compare it to the start of Coupe as well as overall. Not in the same league. Maybe it's expectations after Coupe, not sure, but they won't be as high if they release another.
  11. Whilst I don't mind Ghosts of Graceland I kind of wish that they're legacy finished with Coupe. Others... Trouble with Rick Rubin ala Manic Frustration Kane Roberts with Desmond Child Kings of the Sun w/both brothers Candy Harlots Vain - when is that new album going to drop Leatherwolf - been playing live, released a live CD, where's some new tunes? TSO - where's The Romanovs FFS? Damn Yankees Shotgun Messiah Spread Eagle
  12. The Jap version has a heap of extra tracks. I'll let you know what they're like soon but I reckon this one overall is not as good as the last.
  13. That fkn Bryan Adams album. What a stinking turd. Write one decent tune, rinse and repeat until the CD runs out of space......booooooooooriiiiing. Kane Roberts, Ozzy, D2, Shotgun Messiah all too low and way too many too high ?
  14. Tyketto debut is a classic, it's just hard for some people to rate the album properly after being wiped out by the opening 3 tracks. I always thought if it didnt start so well and maybe had those tracks at numbers 3, 7 and 10 instead it might rate differently. Agreed that everything after this has been very patchy and overall but very good!
  15. Because the heart and soul of the band has tragically passed away and they sadly do not have the capacity to write good songs without him. Just like Warrant could never, ever work properly again, nor will Gotthard, sadly. What Geoff said. Nic is a very good singer and very similar to Steve and I'm sure live he does a great job. It's just that the last 2 albums for me have been well below par, overly long and nothing new or spectacular. Lots of times I felt that the band rehashed a lot of the past but not up to the same level. I never felt that way with any of the previous albums. I do think it's coz I love the band so much, buy every album from Japan, chase down extra tracks and so on. My expectations are high and to be honest Steve's songwriting is sorely missed. I think if the band changed their name I'd be a lot more open but that too is not fair on the remaining members who have helped build a great legacy/career/brand. Steve's passing is just so tragic!
  16. I'm no hater but I'm just not interested in this one!
  17. This is going to be the first Gottard release I won't be buying on the day world release, or without hearing in its entirety beforehand.
  18. I love the first 3, been meaning to get Daddy was a Hobo but I can't listen to anything that the drummer brother sings.
  19. Who me? Shit! Must be coz it is!
  20. Love the original GR releases, not so sure about this one tho. Does every 2nd song have HELL in the title?
  21. Like the album cover, lead off single is so-so.
  22. Um... I'm a Steelheart fan, and I love it. So, I'll take another one. ;} How does it compare to Wait?
