  1. So, I'm crazy for saying this isn't making my top ten--if I was to even make a list--yet, you ain't crazy for suggesting "Just Like I Planned" is a filler? I'mma smack you. ;}
  2. Well it's that time of year, so: Trans-Siberian Orchestra - Christmas Eve and Other Stories Trans-Siberian Orchestra - The Christmas Attic Trans-Siberian Orchestra - The Lost Christmas Eve
  3. Really? You, of all people, have not seen Star Trek? Never been much of a "Trek" guy...casual fan at best. I was always more of a Star Wars kid. When the last one came out I was kinda interested cuz I liked the idea of being able to "start from scratch" without having to know 40+ years of back story but never got around to it for whatever reason. I'm no Kirk-loving Spock-sucker. I'm a Star Wars nerd, through and through. But that Star Trek film was just great sci-fi. Simply put.
  4. I don't usually score albums, but having just listened to this one about 5 times, I thought I'd have a go. I use my favourite songs as the (10/10) benchmark, hence my marks are generally harsher than Glen or Geoff: 1. Wake Me Up - (6) - really average opener; nothing wrong with, but nothing special 2. Bleed & Scream - (8) - nice hard rock song 3. Aint Dead Yet - (6.5) - decent upbeat song, quite a nice chorus 4. Battlegrounds - (6) - again, another reasonably good song, but not amazing 5. A Bitter Taste - (8.5) - very nice song, great build up and chorus - just somehow get the feeling it could be a bit better (i.e. big build up, chorus kicks in really well, but then it doesn't really go anywhere and the chorus itself is very short) 6. Falling Down - (8) - good song 7. SOS - (9) - the verses on this track are the highlight of the whole album, the chorus is quite good, and the solo is pretty poor - very disappointing. Overall still a really good song though and the best on the album for me 8. Take Back The Fear - (5) - not keen on this one, sounds like rock-by-numbers 9. The Unspoken Heroes - (8) - like this one, excellent chorus, but the opening riff (which appears a few times during the song) sounds a lot like 'Still Of The Night' by Whitesnake, so much so that I found myself humming said song 10. About To Break - (6) - soft, nothing special, but reasonable guitar 11. After The End Of The World - (4) - least favourite on the whole thing, really boring Good album overall, will be in my top 10 of the year, but perhaps not quite as good as I thought it was going to be after hearing a few songs online beforehand. That is pretty much my feelings about this one. I haven't really said much about this album, as I have been a bit tied on whether I really like it or not. Spinning it again the other day I came to the definite conclusion that whilst good and solid, it is massively overrated and definitely Won't make my top 10 this year.I'll give it a pretty good 75-80% Same here, a solid album but nowhere near as good as it was hyped to be. I played it regularly for about 2 weeks when it firstcame out and have rarely gone back to it since. I know I'll pull it out again when I make my best of 2012 list, but like Jez, I don't think it will make my top 10 either. Yep, I can't even recall much of the album. I know "Wake Me Up" only because I had to get through that one to get to "Bleed and Scream," which, I'll admit, is one of my favourite tracks of the year. Unfortunately, nothing else got me stiff.
  5. That's my second favourite song on the album (after 'Easy Come Easy Go')! I know, right?!
  6. Really? You, of all people, have not seen Star Trek?
  7. I don't listen to live albums often, but Genesis - Live Over Europe 2007 might be my favourite.
  8. Is that a bad thing? I love that song! Hurts - Stay No great song, just interesting how the radio works. Beach Boys-Wouldn't It Be Nice... Radio doesn't work. Harem Scarem - Caught Up In Your World
  9. I never would have taken you for a Rascal Flatts kinda guy. Well there ya go. Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban and quite alot of the new country stuff all finds a place in my collection. I'm more of an 80 and 90s era new Cuntry fan. Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Colin Raye, Paul Brandt... But then, I actually live in the country. I still don't understand the Brits love for this type of music.
  10. All by himself. I'm sure he was often all by himself. I'm sure he still is. ;}

  12. I'm only letting you get away with that, 'cause you're so much older than me. And maybe Geoff. ;} Merry Christmas, Gramps. I only come to this site because it's the only place in the world that people are still actually older than me. I am really, really old. But if we fought, I'd still make a mess of you. As for this band. It's not that it's the best song ever recorded or anything, but there is no denying the vibe/potential displayed there. Plus, I like the song anyway... Oh, yeah. Music. That's why we're all here. I haven't even listened to this track, yet. One of these days, Geoff, I'll have to visit your little rock, and we'll have this shit sorted. ;}

  15. I haven't seen this, but Bullit and Ronin both had great car chases. Is this film worth watching, apart from this scene? I fast forward through car chases in movies... Ha! You would.
  16. Oh, and I had rotini, not rigati, but it's still pasta.
  17. $6.00!!! That's cheap. They're around $10.00 over here. I'll be having rigati with Alfredo sauce. And, of course, beer. Well... That hotdog was $8.00... I had the soggy bun part right though. Damn! No one should ever have to pay that much for a half-assed hotdog. One of my local supermarkets used to have a hotdog stand outside its doors, and they had great smokies for only $2.50. Shit. I really want one, now.
  18. Indeed. No harm trying to bring new music to the masses. I'd rather two threads about a great band than none, and have it pass me by. Agreed. At least the threads were in different categories. I can post one in the "Prog" section, if it helps create awareness. ;} I'll post my fist in the prog section and pray it finds it's way to the center of your face. Gay. If you want to touch me, just say so. But it will require a lot of prayer on your part.
  19. Not as good as "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," but Jim Carey did an excellent job, nonetheless.
