  1. Well I am a huge fan of melodic rock, and I was seriously underwhelmed by this one as well. Its all a matter of personal opinion, not being deaf or not a fan of the genre at all. It's not that this is a bad album, its just nowhere near as outstanding to me as other people seem to think it is. I'd take pretty much the whole Gotthard catalogue, over this one as thats who this album reminds me of, and Gotthard is so much better. Its a shame really as 'Go' on the greatest hits package is one of my favourite tracks in recent years.
  2. Just re-earthing this thread as I stumbled on this track today, and remembered the comments about the Stanfour "cover" song. It seems it may just be a stock tune that bands write their own lyrics to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMPXBv0yhGc
  3. I think quite a few bands used to do this (although maybe not as many as 70 songs). Not so much that they could hold onto the material for later, but so they could then cherry pick what they thought were the absolute best songs for the album and have a few runners up for b-sides and soundtracks etc. This was pretty much how Bon Jovi did it back in the Slippery/New Jersey days, and I even remember them doing a thing where they played a load of songs to fans, and let them help decide the tracks that went on Slippery (I think it was). Jon was even adamant that Livin on a prayer should not be on the album, and was gonna give it up as a soundtrack song for the Fat Boys film, Disorderlies, until Richie said he would kill Jon if he did that (they ended up giving them Edge of a broken heart). Also, when selecting the track listing for the rarities box set that came out a few years ago, Jon had to be persuaded to allow some of those unreleased tracks to be released as he never thought they were good enough. (let the jokes begin about people wishing he said that with the last few albums) So basically, what I am saying is, of those 60 other songs, only a handful will probably ever see the light of day, officially at least.
  4. If you like the band, then go as you have nothing to lose. If you dont like the band and have other plans, sell the tickets on eBay or somewhere similar. Simple really.
  5. You need to hear Kix's MIDNITE DYNAMITE, G... I own it, my good brother. I own/ed all Kix’s album… and as I said, I do like the guys but IMO Poison were a whole world ahead songwise. Yup. Kix to me are a really good band, but they just dont have as many songs that I really like compared to Poison. To be honest, its a kind of unfair comparision anyway is Kix musically are totally different to Poison. Kix are gonna appeal more to the kind of people who are into AC/DC, Aerosmith, Rhino Bucket & Johnny Crash etc, where as Poison are gonna appeal more to people who like bands like Pretty Boy Floyd, Warrant & Bon Jovi etc. I like most forms of rock and metal, but the bands who are more glam/hair/party orientated are generally gonna get the nod from me. Fact is, Poison are one of my two fave bands anyway, so this isnt exactly a difficult choice.
  6. Last I heard from him was that he rejoined Britny Fox earlier this year, but havent heard much about it since.
  7. Only one other song that I know of, and thats a cover of Lepps Rock of ages.
  8. If you look at both the descriptions you will see that it says a date and venue, so my betting is they are live bootlegs for certain.
  9. Is the new tour edition of Scream any different to the original two disc version that came out when it was originally released? I have been comparing both on Amazon, and the track listings seem identical. Was there a 2 disc version when it first came out? I know there is now a tour edition (US) and a deluxe edition (UK) which are the same, but they were released in October Anyway it has 7 bonus tracks (3 studio inc. the itunes only track, Jap bonus track + an unreleased song + 4 new live tracks) plus the 3 vids and is pretty worthwhile getting I think. I thought they did the same as they do with so many albums these days, release a standard and deluxe version at original release. Didnt realise the deluxe one came later as I still havent picked it up yet (its on one of my many christmas lists, so I may get it as a present).

  11. Its been a standard practice for years now, mostly limited to bigger bands and labels, but its getting more and more frequent with smaller labels now as well. RL are on the Spinefarm label, but as far as I can see, Spinefarm is just part of the Universal group anyway. When a band releases an album and there is a standard and deluxe version at release, its not too bad, but when they start re-releasing albums 6-12 months after the original, with bonus tracks or extra CDs/DVDs etc, its just dirty pool on the labels part. Tbh, most of the time I will just ignore the reissue and just download the bonus tracks when someone uploads them. I only buy the reissue if its a band or an album I am a huge fan of. Just look at the new Slash album as a perfect example of record company rip off. First of all the album was released in multiple formats to start with, all featuring different bonus tracks, then within months they release a deluxe version with an extra disc featuring nearly all of those bonus tracks, some new live tracks and a DVD. They claim that downloading is killing the music industry, but I say its tactics like this that are helping people decide that maybe illegal downloading is the way to go. Sadly, the record companies are not the ones who will be hurt, its the artists themselves.
  12. It's really not the band thats at fault with this, its the record label. While there may be some financial benefit to them, which I am sure they will not turn down, I doubt they have much say in this release.
  13. I'll be glad to get hold of a copy of the Leppard cover as it was great when they performed it live at the last London gig. I will probably rebuy the album, but dont know if I will get rid of my original copy as its signed by Hessu.
  14. Hmm, its interesting that the first three of the extra tracks were all available for download with the previous two singles (Get your hands dirty & Two hot girls). Guess they are re-releasing them on this as it will be on CD this time as well. Their version of Danger zone is great, and Chasing love is a great rock tune. I wonder if Fade away will make it to CD at some point as well, as thats another great tune.
  15. hmmm, tried uploading it again and its the same. Must be an issue with megaupload. Try this one http://rapidshare.com/files/431485663/ll.zip

  17. Yep. Me! I'm guessing you would like me to upload them... Be back in a bit!!
  18. If the album will indeed feature the original Animal recordings rather than new versions, then its not only Laney thats being ripped off, its anyone who buys it as well.
  19. Well the album is what it is really. The songs really arent anything new in the way they are performed, they just sound like the originals with Steve on vocals. That said, its not a bad combination as I am a huge fan of PBF and really like Kiss. As for the above comments. Well its all a matter of taste, but give me Size really does matter over most other so called glam acts that get ranted and raved about on here. For my money, the reason there hasnt been a new album is the instability of the line up since the reunion of the Leather boyz line up, and the fact the Kristy and Steve seem to be working on too many other projects etc.
  20. yeah, its nothing massively heavy, just a reworking of an old Kinks song
  21. Just for those interested, the new Ray Davies album is full of duets with various singers and bands from different genres. Of interest to some here would probably be the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi/Richie Sambora & Metallica. It also includes people like Billy Corgan, Mumford & Sons and Jackson Browne, among others.
  22. In my opinion this blows away the offerings by HEAT and Treat, which I found to be ok but nothing special.
  23. This afternoon I watched Delta Force, and now just finished Fletch.
  24. Theres a line on an episode of Mock the week where Frankie Boyle says SJP is either a very ugly woman, or a very beautiful seahorse.
  25. Just ordered their CD as its quite cheap (compared to most bands), and booked a ticket to see them as I just found out they are playing in London on my birthday in Jan.
