  1. Just downloaded and listened to both his solo albums, and I have to say his second album seems to have deviated from his obvious love of the classics, and I get a feeling that the record company is trying to steer him into a more modern direction. My guess would be that joining H.E.A.T. would be his way of regaining that rock style.
  2. Never really listened to Heat that much, but have been listening to some of Eriks stuff on Youtube and I have to say his voices is amazing. And who cares that he was on Pop Idol, or whatever they call it, the simple fact is the tunes he was performing would not be performed on the UK or US variants, which makes their version even cooler. I'd be totally stunned if I ever heard Van Halen, Maiden and Skid Row on the UK version.
  3. Have never used the auction part of marketplace (not even sure it still exists), but I will say that there is very little point to selling cheap CDs on Amazon. While there is no listing fee, which is great, the cut they take on lower priced items makes it hardly worthwhile selling. Also, with fixed price listings, everyone who lists the same item after you will nearly always list it slightly cheaper, and you end up having to adjust your prices. A friend of mine who runs a motorsport shop over here also sells on eBay, and says he wont sell on Amazon as it ends up costing him more in the long run. eBid is worth a look at as I believe the customer base is growing, and their fees are minimal.
  4. Not trying to be funny, but I have not seen any in this thread so far, and have only seen positive comments.
  5. Not to the general public, and not enough for them to tour over here. Prior to the song Crazy Nights, they had only ever had 2 UK top 40 singles, both in 1983, and both of them failed to break the top 30. As for albums, five of them reached the top 40 prior to Crazy Nights, and even then only one of them was a 1970s album. Of the three big 70s US acts (Kiss, Alice and Aerosmith), only Alice had any degree of success here in the 70s. Kiss were obviously well known in the rock circles, but for true commercial success, they were virtual unknowns here. Only reason I had ever heard of them was that I collected US comics, and used to see adverts in 70s comics, but even that wasnt until the mid 80s when I started collecting.
  6. Crazy Nights is by far one of the best Kiss albums ever, and everything released prior to it is weak in comparison. I can compile a best of from all the earlier Kiss albums for the truly great tunes, as most of the album tracks were not really that great. Its no surprise really that Crazy Nights was the album that made them go from being a reasonably well known rock band, to a huge rock band, as it was by far their catchiest album up to that point. I know in the USA Kiss were THE rock band of the 70s, but this was the album that made Europe sit up and take notice. Hot in the shade was a big comedown compared to this one, as it seemed to repeat the formula of previous albums of having a handful of great tunes, and a load of filler, but they then redeemed themselves with Revenge.
  7. Well I have to say that I had only heard Eldorado prior to hearing the whole album today, so wasnt expecting anything from this album as everything the band has done since Bruce returned, has not interested me at all as they all sound totally unoriginal with nearly every song sounding like an older, better, song. Also, the seem to have a penchant for choruses that are the same line repeated over and over again. When the intro tune kicked off (Satellite 15), although I didnt think it sounded that great, it did make me hopeful that I was gonna hear a new Maiden album rather than the regurgitated material of the last few albums. Sadly, once Final frontier starts, its just a case of the same old same old. The chorus is abysmal, with its single line repeated over and over again. The rest of the album is no better. Give me any of the albums from the debut right up til Virtual XI, they were all great. Everything after that is pointless.
  8. Nothing new or unusual about that. There has always been gay wrestlers or wrestlers who are not gay, but portray gay or ambiguously gay characters. Pat Paterson, Chris Kanyon and Brooklyn Brawler all spring to mind as actual homosexuals, while there has always been characters like Gorgeous George (the original male one, not the female), Goldust, Rico and Billy n Chuck who have been blatantly portrayed as gay. As for people not wanting to see that, well the popularity of some of those characters over the years would suggest that there most certainly is a market for it, even if it doesnt appeal to everyone. Lets face it, there are still a lot of fans who feel that nobody wants to see women wrestling. I will admit though that the Orlando Jordan thing is tasteless in its execution, but thats no surprise as thats exactly what I have come to expect from TNA these days. Just look at the angle with Samoa Joe going round holding knives to peoples throats etc.
  9. when I saw them a couple of months ago they performed in live. at the time I hadnt heard it before, but it slotted into the set quite nicely (you could tell that the bulk of the crowd didnt know it either as very few people were singing along, but it didnt stop them going mad jumping up and down etc).
  10. I uploaded it back in June and posted it here in this thread, but not sure if anyone other than Shamus downloaded it.
  11. The problem with the album is it started out with good intentions, then kind of mutated into a mess. Initially the idea was that the record label wanted a compilation album of some sort, and Jon felt that they could have done what everyone was doing, and release a best of with a couple of new tracks on it, but as they had already done that with Crossroad, he thought that an acoustic album of some of their biggest hits would be a better idea. Now, if they had stuck with that concept, it might have been a really good album, but after they started working on the album, they started to change their minds, and rather than do an acoustic album, they decided to go with different arangements and such, and this is the album we ended up with.
  12. You think thats expensive, then try this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-Night-Long-Buckcherry/dp/B003RSZQ10/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1281021331&sr=8-4 £74.49 = $117.95
  13. Unless someone can tell me different, I have never found anything to suggest that the Wrathchild album, Trash Queens has ever been officially released on CD. I've had a copy on CD for a few years now, and its just a direct transfer of the vinyl with a couple of single b-sides tagged pm. If there has ever been an official CD release, I have never been able to find any info on it.
  14. strangely my opinion has gone the other way as I just cannot listen to it anymore.
  15. New album is defo aimed at trying to recapture some of the vibe of the first album, even going so far as to have photos of a lady in the booklet all painted up like the girl on the debut album. One thing fans might want to take note of is that there is a special European deluxe edition, that has seven extra tracks on it. All of them are acoustic songs, but with the exception of 'Sorry', they are all new songs. http://www.amazon.co.uk/All-Night-Long-Buckcherry/dp/B003QSHIP8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1280767132&sr=1-1

But what if it hadnt been believed?
  17. Nothing wrong with liking Prince, especially songs from the Purple Rain album, which is fantastic.
  18. It sounds like a modern Def Leppard ballad. Nothing special!
  19. Skin had quite a few good pop covers on the bonus disc that came with the limited edition version of their debut CD: Unbelievable (EMF) Dog eat dog (Adam Ant) Express yourself (Madonna) Pump it up (Elvis Costello) Hangin on the telephone (Blondie) Should I stay or should I go (The Clash) Also, Gun did a few on one of the CD singles: Killing in the name of (Rage Against The Machine) Are you gonna go my way (Lenny Kravitz) Panic (The Smiths)
  20. You mean this turd? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDCLUiGi_r0 Of course, and rock song performed on Glee is bloody awful as well (ditto for any other genre covered on that show).
  21. Stumbled on this a couple of months ago and love it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNsBg1KHvMc
  22. Not sure if Reel Big Fish really classes as pop, but they do like their cover songs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXKHaUMxNRw
  23. DJ Sammy This version I despise http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuBmiu68ECU This version I really like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxtjK_YoDxQ
  24. This one though, I hated. I like a couple of Apollo 440s tunes, but certainly not this shite. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyfZUVsdGtM
  25. Not terrible, but not that great. I like Sheryl, but this cover just didnt do anything for me. I actually hated it initially, but its grown on me a bit over the years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RFmILU9HlA
