  1. Cool, glad to hear that. I keep going back to their first 2 albums especially 'Can't Stop...' from 2008 I think, must have played that album over 100 times since it was released. I didn't get into their last disc a lot but hoping to enjoy this one after reading your comment. These guys know how to write a catchy song that's for sure.
  2. Does anyone have anything digital or otherwise from Still Echo?
  3. Anyone heard the new one - American Candy?
  4. Starlight Theatre - Clearview New link. Interestingly I first posted this back in 2011 before I had heard of the Twilight movies. Wonder what became of Syndicate? http://sonichits.com/video/Starlight_Theatre/Clear_View
  5. Shit, how long is your lunch break?? Lucky bastard ? I'm all digital these days. CD collection is just sitting there gathering dust. I store everything on my desktop PC and use Mediamonkey as my organiser. I copy music to my samsung galaxy phone and a few other USB devices and play them plugged into a stereo at home as well as in the car. Each week I just delete most of whats on my phone / USB and put a bunch of new stuff on there. I hate apple products....everything is so much easier with samsung
  6. Welcome Stew. LOTS of great music to be discovered on these forums. Good to have you here. Cheers.
  7. I did the same thing. Been listening to some It Bites lately, good stuff. Not sure I'll check this one out though, I only dabble lightly in prog territory.
  8. Great album. That and Kid Courageous' debut both still get plenty of spins from me. Yep love that first Kid Courageous CD as well.
  9. This is the cover for the new s/t album released last month on AOR Heaven. Now why AOR Heaven supported these guys I don't know because this in not AOR in any way, shape or form. In fact the band labels themselves 'alternative indie rock'. Just did a search and it seems the have released three EPs previously: They have worked with Bleu who I think co wrote songs for Boys Like Girls which is evident early on this CD with some slight hints of that band but still very different. Anyway good stuff and I'm interested to know Geoff if this is the album you heard. This should be moved to 'other music styles' if possible.
  10. They have been around for quite a few years I believe though I can't recall their past releases well enough to comment. But, their new self titled album on AOR Heaven is superb. It really is very light and is borderline for being Heavy Harmonies material but excellent nonetheless. Beautiful songwriting. More of a modern rock band and I suspect many people here will find it's not heavy enough. Reminds me of another excellent band who I will dig up a topic on soon.
  11. Yeah I see what you mean Geoff and Dan about the threads sorting themselves out and yeah I agree that it is a good thing to be inclusive of all bands within the genres, good and bad. I guess what I'm trying to say is that 2015 only looks bad at a glance because of a large number of bad releases but amidst these is a handful of very good / excellent releases eg Care of Night, Eclipse and Rev Saints. Three months in and it's not looking too bad. Definitely no worse than the last few years.
  12. Two albums that I have loved since their release that I always go on about are Richard Marx - Paid Vacation Bryan Adams - Waking Up the Neighbours A few others that come to mind are Hess - Just Another Day Brett Walker - Lift Off John Waite - Temple Bar
  13. I think the fact that just about every crap album gets it's own topic on the forum nowadays makes it seem like there is an awful lot of shit being released in 2015 but really there is probably just as many great and not so great albums being released in comparison to the last five years or so. In years gone by we mostly only discussed the better albums. Take a look at the sleaze glam section for example, tons of shitty new bands with their own topics in there. I'm not claimig to be the judge of whats good and what isnt, but in my view we do start topics for albums that are dreadful a lot more than we used to.
  14. I've seen you praising this album a few times over the years, to be honest I don't even know if I've heard it. Have to give it a try.
  15. Have to agree with you on 'Just Getting Started', what a killer album that was and yeah I still play that one a lot. Can't believe it was eight years ago!
  16. I'd be happy if these guys packed up and we didn't hear from them again. It's over VH and has been for a very long time.
  17. Gave this one a play today, it's really very bad. Dreary, alternative stoner type rock. The bonus track 'My Town' is pretty cool. Enuff said.
  18. I prefer the band in the second picture.
  19. I think I know what you mean man ?....actually I'm really puzzled....so you first opened and listened to Point Blank last week and you thought it was superb, but you're sick of it already? Now how many discs are inside your cavern of unopened CDs? BTW I think it's a great album, one of their best.
  20. Would be a cool album cover if not for the lady pirate-musketeer whatever she is. Cool band back in their early days. Still don't mind them but they don't really hold my interest much any more. I agree Name of the Rose was great.
  21. Mate, you've been a member for two years, but do you even use the site? Anyone that browses the forums should be familiar with most of those names. And this is why we can't attract new members to these forums. I see this so often, not just on the HH forums. A new or relatively new member makes a perfectly good, harmless, genuine reply and they are met with a reply like that. Sorry funky man I'm sure you meant no harm but it reads a bit harsh and unwelcoming.
  22. Some exteded versions of punk songs go for around 3:05
  23. Anyone found anything good on CD Baby lately? Been a long time since I've looked.
