  1. Super High Material. From Wikipedia: SHM-CD is a digital optical disc data storage format. It is an improved compact disc format with the greatest change being a different polycarbonate material that allows more precise physical representation of stored bits during pressing and less laser scatter during reading. These improvements aim to facilitate playback by producing less errors and potentially better sound quality. SHM-CDs are played on a standard CD player. The format was developed in Japan by Universal Music Japan and JVC. The same material can also be used to manufacture SHM-SACD discs. Do they actually sound better? I'd guess not unless you had high end hifi equipment and young ears.PS I should probably check out some MSG...always overlooked this group.
  2. Harem Scarem seem way out of place amongst those other albums ?
  3. Haha Nightrain, you're starting to sound like a statistcian ? I envy all of you for having such efficient rating systems though- I just can't find the time to do it. Really enjoyable reading though...love seeing your lists. Maybe one of these days I'll come up with a top 100 or 200 albums list of my own and post that, but I don't think I can manage separate lists for each year.
  4. Went to my 10 year reunion. Everyone pretty much kept to their same little groups from 10 years earlier. Probably wouls go again if they have a 20 year but only if it's easy to get to etc.
  5. Exceeding expectations then?
  6. I'm still waiting for my copy, but have heard 3 full songs and 1 minute samples of the rest. The 3 songs that I've heard, 2 are really good and was is meh, sample of the rest sound good to me. Ok, it's not as good as past albums but does that make it "awful"? Okay.... it's not awful but surely isn't good either. Pillar Of Salt is SHIT, and thus awful. 'Pillar of salt' is the worst song on the album, and there is another weak ballad towards the end of the disc too. Other than that, though, I kind of like the album. I think it's not bad at all. My early top 10 looks a little like this: 1 - Care Of Night - Connected 2 - Issa - Crossfire 3 - Destine - Forevermore 4 - Room Experience - Room Experience 5 - Eclipse - Armageddonize 6 - Osukaru - Transition 7 - Station - Station 8 - Santa Cruz - Santa Cruz 9 - Revolution Saints - Revolution Saints 10 - The Toi - Water Into Wine Surprised you rate Room Experience so high mate, some good songs on it but won't make my top 10. Care of Night, Destine and maybe Eclipse all in my top 5 too. Rev Saints will prob be a fraction higher for me.
  7. The quality is not bad and the songs are excellent. The link to dl is still active at Hard Rock AOR Heaven blog. I found a track list for the 2nd album- 01. Don't Stop 02. All The Way 03. What You Don't Know 04. Borderline 05. Stop Playing With My Heart 06. Body Heat 07. Spagetthi Wire [instrumental] 08. Invisible Man Seems all of these tracks are covered in the Paris Sessions so in effect the 2nd Roxus album is 'out there'.
  8. Some nice selections there, Glen.
  9. Also, has anyone heard of Black Rain? "BLACK RAIN WAS POST ROXUS, SAID TO FEATURE JEFF PARIS ON GUITARS & BACKING VOX & PRODUCTION DUTIES, THE SONGS ARE SAID TO BE OF AN EXCELLENT CALIBRE OF HARD ROCK FROM THOSE PRIVVY TO HAVE HEARD AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD SEVERAL TIMES DRAGAN WON'T PLAY THESE TRACKS DUE TO LEGALITIES." And does anyone know of 12 Dearrow tracks? I thought their were only 4 demos. "THE DE ARROW TRACKS THAT HEAVILY FEATURE KEYBOARDS WERE SUBJECT TO A RELEASE FROM A WELL KNOWN JAPANESE LABEL. MAIN MAN NOEL HART WAS ALL FOR IT BUT... SOMEONE ELSE BLOCKED THE RELEASE, FORGOT HIS NAME BUT HE PASSED AWAY LAST YEAR AFTER A LONG BATTLE WITH AN ILLNESS. PERHAPS, NOW, ONE DAY THESE TRACKS ( 12 ? ) MAY SEE THE LIGHT."
  10. For those who missed it, a superb collection of unreleased Roxus material was posted at AOR Hard Rock Heaven a little while back. A nice write up also on the background of these 'Paris Sessions'. 01 - Love Me, Do Me (Jeff Paris session demo) 02 - What You Don't Know (Jeff Paris session demo) 03 - Invisible Man (Jeff Paris session demo) 04 - Body Heat [long version] (Jeff Paris session demo) 05 - Stop Playing With My Heart (Jeff Paris session demo) 06 - All The Way (Jeff Paris session demo) 07 - Don't Stop (Jeff Paris session demo) 08 - Where Are You Now (original demo ft. J. Christian) 09 - Borderline (Where Are You Now b-side) 10 - Stand Back (Aussie original '89 single version) 11 - Spaghetti Wire (unknown session) 12 - Body Heat (unknown session) 13 - Bad Boys (Live - unreleased) 14 - All Right Now (Live - unreleased) 15 - Juno Roxas Hold On (from the 1987 movie Mull) Anyone know of any other unreleased Roxus songs and what was the tracklist for the unreleased 2nd album?
  11. 18 Visions had a great ballad called 'Broken Hearted'. Can't believe it's nearly 10 years old! BTW some nice selections Grey. https://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=EvBHUeXGLpI
  12. Just playing the new Young Guns album...pretty good disc in the modern rock field, maybe not as good as their last effort - Bones, though still a good listen. It's maybe slihhtly moving toward a more alternative sound, similar to the Killers type of thing but without losing the hard rock edge too much.

  14. I don't mind the new album. 3 or 4 really strong tracks and none are terrible. Definitely won't make many new fans though. As for comparisons to their past albums, I'm probably not qualified to say but I doubt this would be their best since IV in my books from what I recall.
  15. Is this it? Ritchie Kotzen - Get Up (B-Sides) Track List: 01 - Feel Good 02 - Another Second Chance 03 - Tree 04 - Flashback 05 - All I can 06 - Blame On Me 07 - Come Down 08 - Wake Up 09 - Shine 10 - Shape Of Things 11 - Solicialite 2004 Version
  16. Yes excellent stuff. Loving the new album. I doubt this will be topped in the modern rock genre this year.
  17. I love this thread so much. Geoff can you please listen to a track or two from Valonkantajat's "Pimentola" and give your final thoughts on this matter.
  18. I once bought an album by a Polish band, in Polish...because it had such damn good reviews...no idea why I did that because I played it a couple of times, couldn't understand a word and never played it again. For the record it was an album called 'Demon' by a band called 'Fatum'
  19. Yeah this one's a steamy pile of dog shit. I'm not a big fan of the band anyway apart from Prisoners which was very good.
  20. Agree with Warrant Cherry Pie. Also Bon Jovi who I think has a few signature songs but Wanted Dead or Alive blows. Soooo many other bands with signature songs I hate...
  21. Don't think I ever heard the first album...must check it out
  22. Stick with Soto mate ?Other websites are giving this really positive reviews, pretty consistently. Guess it's one for the metal crowd.
