  1. Bob Halligan is an excellent disc. He has another available as well.
  2. ☆ Blog Post # 5 ☆ ♢ Black Rose - Fast Times at Black Rose High (EP) ♢ Not to be confused with a Sydney band of the same name, Melbourne hard rockers Black Rose released an EP titled 'Fast Times at Black Rose High' in 1996. According to details on the CD inserts, the band "formed as a joke" in 1994 and were lucky enough to record this EP in an L.A. studio with the help of producers Daryl Hall & John Oates (!). I strongly suspect those last few pieces of information are also a joke and are characteristic of the jovial lyrics and attitudes of the band members on this EP. Musically this is tongue-in-cheek hard rock with glam-sleaze and punk influences. There are links to a number of other Melbourne bands including Manic Suede featuring Kit Warhurst and David Lord, as well as Dashboard featuring Andre Warhurst and David Lord. Overall this may not be for everyone - but it's good fun Aussie rock and you can't argue with that. A pretty rare CD that I have only ever come across once. Any more information regarding Black Rose would be most welcome. Track List 01. Fast Times at Black Rose High 02. Fuck Off Back to Byron Bay 03. Tell the Chicks I do Surf 04. Sweet and Sour 05. I Drive a Holden (My Ones a Brown One) 06. Rosso Live at the Dubbo RSL ☆☆☆ 7wishesmusic.wordpress.com ☆☆☆
  3. This is for you bro. I cannot recommend it enough. Probably this one's a better book bro, try reading one But they do lie if you remove bad tracks before putting down a rating. ?
  4. ☆ Blog Post # 4 ☆ ♢ Devils in Heaven ♢ "Devils In Heaven were an Australian group often seen touring around the east coast of Australia during the late 80′s and early 90′s. They had a strong following and in 1992 they were on a talent show called Star Search, they took out the major prize, had a single released called Say a Prayer (One departed) and then basically disappeared. They shouldve taken the music scene here by storm as to this day there are still questions asked about the band, what happened to them? What are they doing now? Well, after my quest over many years to track down this man, I was absolutely stoked to be able to talk to Devils front man Dave Whitney about pretty much everything and get these questions answered. No holds barred here and truly some interesting things I never knew about the industry or these talent shows." © 2011 Troy Culpan @ May the Rock be With You ☆☆☆ 7wishesmusic.wordpress.com ☆☆☆
  5. ☆ Blog Post # 3 ☆ ♢ Shotgun Alley - Growing Menace EP ♢ Melbourne hard rock band Shotgun Alley formed in 1990 and it was during this year that the band played to a lively crowd of 4000 people in support of Jimmy Barnes at Bendigo Basketball Stadium. However it was not until 1993 that this debut six track EP titled Growing Menace was released..... Track List 01. White Flame 02. Soul Resurrection 03. Yesterdays Gone 04. When the Beat Comes Knocking 05. One More Night 06. Youre Mine ☆☆☆ 7wishesmusic.wordpress.com ☆☆☆
  6. How much is enough spins? If it hasn't grabbed someone by the 3rd spin, then it's a case of just trying hard to like it or just trying to find a reason to like it if they persist on spinning it again and again. This is also very true. 2 or 3 spins should be enough to determine if an album has any highlights or is worthy of repeated spins. If you're unsure after 3 spins it is likely not a good disc.
  7. Agree on all counts. Yes Glen sums this one up accurately.
  8. Yes I'm going to avoid putting up full songs/albums for d/l unless they are a promo type item. Reason is I'm too afraid of having my blog shut down as has happened to others. However I will upload some samples and can send you a link to d/l the song or album if you're interested. I'm into the more straight hard rock/hair metal/sleaze/heavy metal sound. Can pass on any AOR, and also on all the AC/DC clones. If you come across anything that might suit, I'd love for you to send me some links, thanks Can do, I'll PM you some stuff. Cheers.

If for no other reason, track it down so you can listen to Voices in the Storm absolutely stunning!! Track List 01. Demi God 02. Modern Day Woman 03. Screaming Desire 04. 12. Underwhelming sums this album up perfectly. "Energized"?? That song sucked the energy right out of me - terrible! A few good / average tracks and this has their signature sound all over it, but it's just a boring record. One of the best and most frustrating bands in history.
  13. The new Bryan Adams is crap . It's got a couple of good tracks, but basically it sounds like a Jeff Lynne solo album and not a very good one at that. Also, 9 tracks, 25 minutes (with 4 acoustic versions of some of the same songs) to bulk it out isn't really the way to go in these days of diminishing CD sales. 25 minutes!!! Seriously??? Wow that is one short disc. Love Bryan Adams of the 80s and early 90s - anything he did since is total shit IMO and I don't even bother trying his albums anymore. As for this Space Cat Gods thing - count me in as being excited! I think refreshing is the word I would use. You may not have picked it but I do quite like a bit of classic 10cc - not usually my sort of band especially their art-rock side of things but man can that guy sing!
  14. I like it. Great vocals. Chorus doesn't blow you away but pretty good stuff! (And not soft)
  15. Will have Call of the Wild on the blog very soon. I have 2 CDs from them. Pretty standard pub rock with ACDC influences.
  16. Cool start to the blog. Will be looking to see what follows! Thanks man. Hopefully it won't be too long between posts! Plenty of ideas though. Cheers.
  17. Yeah actually I have that demo tspe and will feature it on the blog sometime...got a few other goodies first. The Roxus reissue is essential IMO.
  18. Stand...I forgot all about them. That was a good disc!
  19. I know it's an innocent forget (it must be), but you forgot Southern Sons! Their second album is arguably one of the best out of Australia. Also worthy of mention is Empire (particularly their debut). Another few musts that are not on that list; BB Steal - debut (the second best Aussie CD ever!!!) Mr Scary (very nice album; better late than never) Rick Price - debut (Splendid AOR) Psuedo Echo - 'Race' (great AOR) Ragdoll (very good current band) De La Cruz (great stuff) Safire (very over-rated and really not one of my faves, but definitely worthy of mention over most that list!) Devils In Heaven (Could have been the best of them all if they released more than just the two amazing singles - 5 songs in total) Shotgun Alley (Australia/NZ band... but either way, they were excellent) White Widdow (undoubtedly placed themselves in the Aussie hall of fame with their 3 albums so far) Ice Tiger (kind of like DeMont and Safire; over-rated, but solid with 2 amazing songs) Great list! Some essential Aussie releases there mate.
  20. Nice list! I think Rick Springfield and Uncanny Xmen are overlooked - both excellent IMO. In fact I heard 'Don't Talk to Strangers' playing today - love that song!
  21. Yeah it will be good. Im no HUGE fan but they are still the best live show I've seen. Have fun!
  22. Yeah I found it strange that Cyclone Tracy took until '96 and '98 to release CDs - unless there was something else before these?
  23. Thanks Geoff. You didn't like Wrecking Crew? Actually that doesn't surprise me much, but I thought they were a great band.
  24. My new Aussie rock blog https://7wishesmusic.wordpress.com/2015/10/09/cobra-club-volume-i-limited-edition-early-90s-cd-compilation/ Just a bit of fun, nothing serious. 1st post is this excellent Aussie hard rock compilation: Also have a Facebook page: search for "7 Wishes Music" More to come. Oh and for anyone interested, there is a copy for sale here. It's $50 but this CD almost never shows up.
