  1. I truly love Disciple, Holy Soldier and The Brave, but the same thing goes with all of them. The less they speak about Jesus the better they sound. The blatant songs are always their worst. Discretion is the key. Have your ridiculous beliefs if you must, but just keep them to yourself... please. I don't care if they are praising God or the devil...if the music/melodies/hooks are good I will sing along... What youd sing along to that in some silly operatic voice?? To each their own ;-)
  2. Jeff Scott Soto is true varied artist. Talisman - melodic hard rock Solo - pure melodic rock bordering on aor Solo - beautiful Mess - more modern approach expertly done WET - mix melodic rock/aor Queen tribute stuff Trans Siberian orchestra stuff Pop crossover covers And most recently dipped into metal with his new band Soto About as varied as it gets without selling out.
  3. Yeah no idea what James is listening to. Also everytime i check out a band he mentions the vocals are generally bloody awful so i take his comments with a pinch of salt ;-)
  4. Glen

    Hello

    you chose well...........
  5. As they say, you can't polish dogshit. Just spare yourself the wasted time and dismiss it. I discovered them during C'mon Take On Me which for me is leaps and bounds over anything they have done up to then, so I had high expectations for the next one. I've been through all their older stuff and it certainly varies from album to album, and most of it I like, but not to the level I like C'mon Take On Me Guess I wait for the next album nice avatar by the way ;-)
  6. Yeah but all that other stuff happened a couple of weeks back
  7. What an excellent summary ;-) As the newie - avoid. Its not terrible but its nowhere near the recent albums
  8. Franke and the Knockouts - Makin The Point Vega - Stereo Messiah
  9. MSG - s/t ?? I freakin love that album. One of my favs through my early teens. Iron Maiden - Dance of Death - again, an excellent album.........prob my 2nd fav of theirs in recent years, behind Brave New World Poison - Native Tongue - I know a fair few who would rate that as Poison's best album. Harem Scarem - Human Nature - excellent album. period. Not a filler in sight. Bon Jovi - 7800F - not quite up to the standard of the s/t or SWW, but still a damned fine album with some absolute gems. Winger - IV - still never heard it, but i'd love too.....there's a few on you tube which i really like
  10. Are they even still going - didnt a member split away to that other band which formed in the demise of In Faith ?
  11. Its the usual story for me - I LOVE the music. BUT.............. 1. Can barely understand a word........................and 2. When I do its ludicrous dribble. Seriously guys..........what is that chorus?? Yaaah Wehhhh?? Dont get it. And I'm not sure I want to either. Hope the rest of the album keeps THIS music/production and actually has sensible lyrics / chorus for a change
  12. Band has officially split I think........
  13. ...but i know instantly if a vocalist is shite. Imho of course.
  14. Also Iron Maiden - Dance of Death. This got panned when it was released, but I really like most of it. 'Paschendale' is superb
  15. I'm with you, just don't care for them. They sound weak live. Just empty with no balls. I do still like those albums though. The birth of a great band. Big call! Weak live...? They played straight after Motley at Sweden Rock and absolutely blew them away. Absolutely brilliant live! A few days after the festival I saw them do an acoustic set at Hard Rock Cafe Stockholm, and again brilliant, including a cover version of "18 and Life" Misunderstood my post mate HEAT are fantastic live. What i meant was the tracks from the first 2 albums sound weak live compared to the last 2 albums. Sticking Late Night Lady between say Inferno and Living on The Run just sounds so out of place now - like 2 different worlds.
  16. Albums which are considered classics which do nothing for me - Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime Cinderella - Long Cold Winter Motley Crue - Dr Feelgood Rush - Moving Pictures Dream Theater - Images & Words
  17. There is nothing average about that De La Cruz album. It kicks crazy amounts of arse. I guess my most recent example would be Night Flight Orchestra - most people here (except Jez) think they are average as hell but i love both albums. Great band.
  18. money making exercise.........under your skin has already been released as a b side, she's like the wind is a pointless cover and really who wants a demo?? Waste of time.
  19. Youd be spot on mate. In my opinion, "Any Other Girl" and "Another Lost Boy" are two of the best rock/AOR songs of 2014. Both would be in my top ten of the year. ... and 'A harder place,' 'Same Star,' 'Left me in love,' and 'If her tears could talk.' Like I said, great album, and if I cared enough I'd pity those who didn't give it a chance for whatever reason. bahahahahaha but like you Geoff, I know exactly what I like in the first 10 secs of listening to it.
