Nightmare World-In The Fullness Of Time
heavyharmonies replied to martinsane's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
Yeah, this one really does nothing for me, sorry. Vocally it's a mess. -
Von Hertzen Brothers - New Day Rising
heavyharmonies replied to Stefan's topic in Prog Rock and Metal
Upon further play, I am really digging this album. Also as far as prog goes, the new Magic Pie album is quite enjoyable as well. Both are on Spotify if you want to listen to the whole album. -
Agreed. Without going back and re-listening to the whole kit and kaboodle, The Journey Will Never End is the album that is most memorable for me.

Jamming this one this morning. A bit Euro power metal, a bit thrash, a bit Judas Priest. Technically released in December 2014, but I didn't hear it until 2015.

Sounds like the hiatus has done them some good.

Damn it. I have no clue how this album slipped by me... and I loved White Darkness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hd_ohSnxOps

I'm really surprised there is no more discussion about this album, as it has serious (HA!) staying power for me. Too heavy for most folks here?
-
Uhhh... hopefully you nean that the other way around. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

That's interesting as hell. I wonder if it is associated with this or some other scam he was involved in. I remember a lot of people pissed off and blustering, but I don't recall anyone saying they had actually successfully gotten charges filed. Since it looks like there was some sort of restitution involved, I'm curious as to what it was for, as I doubt anyone here got anything out of him after the fact (we'd have heard about it by now).

Read lots of complaints over at the MR forum regarding the sound quality of the Frontiers pressing, that they overly compressed the mix, and that the Japan SHM pressing has considerably better SQ. That may be a large part of my complaint about the album: it doesn't have the sonic headroom or lushness of mix/production that previous Toto efforts have had. It's a bad practice in general, but to do it with a Westcoast AOR album where the sonic characteristics are a MAJOR part of the aural experience, borders on criminal...

Hopefully the material doesn't sound stale. The last few efforts have just sounded like retreads of Moving Target and Paradox. Don't get me wrong, those two albums are my faves (never could get into the John West era), but we don't need more material that just sounds rehashed.

"former In Faith singer Pete Godfrey..." Ehh? Band already defunct less than a year after their one album? Or did they sack the singer?

"This video is private." Lame.
-
Apologies if it's old news, as the video is 4 years old, but man would this be cool to visit.

Not me. Couldn't give a rats ass about those fuckers.

To add insult to injury, price including shipping ends up being US$32. They collect VAT even from customers in countries where no VAT is due. Pass.

Why not make it a poll question asking "Which Da Best" to quantify it... -

Marchello - The Power Of Money
heavyharmonies replied to Leykis101's topic in Good and Bad Traders, Buyers, and Sellers
??? I am still seeing a file upload option, although you have to be viewing the full editor, not just the Quick Reply function. Can anyone else confirm, or am I only seeing that because I am an admin? -
I gave the whole disc a listen today. I'm sorry guys, but while I like the music itself, the production is just complete garbage. Tinny drums, echo-ey vocals and ambiance.... it ruins it for me.

Amazon links back... for now...
heavyharmonies replied to heavyharmonies's topic in Site Announcements
The links are on both the band pages and the individual CD pages. Right now it's just the .com, not .de or .co.uk. I need to check into those affiliate programs. BM = BrutalMetal.Com, not what you were thinking. -
Amazon links are back on HH and BM on a trial basis. I know that some folks were upset when I removed them after Amazon fired all of the Illinois affiliates. In case you don't realize it, when you decide to shop on Amazon or eBay, if you click through from HH or BM and actually buy something, I get a tiny commission on the sale. It doesn't cost you anything, but cumulatively it helps support the site. All the pennies, nickels, and dimes from everyone's purchases add up. It's the only way I can afford to keep things going given the shortfalls on the donation drives. I'll have to see how the Amazon links affect the eBay revenue. If it ends up being a net decrease, I will pull the Amazon links again. So for now, enjoy the old functionality back again, and when you go to Amazon or eBay, please go through Heavy Harmonies to do it, even if what you are shopping for has NOTHING to do with music... it's the conversion and proximity in time of the clickthrough to the sale that matters, not specifically what is purchased. Thanks! -Dan

I know for a fact that it is a 100% homemade bootleg. That record label never existed, and the title of the album was just taken from one of the song titles. Any you see with this artwork are CD-Rs.
