  1. Just thinking about this in regard to the Jeff Scott Soto/Inside the Vertigo thread. What are your favorite movie soundtracks that have never had an official release? Mine: 1. Rich Girl (Jeff Scott Soto) 2. Rock N Rule (Cheap Trick, Debbie Harry [including an awesome duet with Robin Zander], Iggy Pop, Earth Wind & Fire) 3. The Chase (Charlie Sheen & Kristy Swanson flick)... completely under-rated flick with a Ron Jeremy cameo. Anthony Kiedis and Flea form the Red Hot Chili Peppers were in the movie. 4. Sons of Thunder (Galactic Cowboys) track from Airheads 5. Highlander (Queen, some of the songs/themes eventually came out on the album "Kind of Magic", but there has never been an official soundtrack release)
  2. Dredging up a 5-year old topic to see if anyone has ever been able to track down a copy of this song... it's GOTTA exist somewhere.
  3. Eyes S/T and the first Talisman album are his best IMO. Honorable mention to the Biker Mice from Mars soundtrack, as well as the never-released "Rich Girl" soundtrack.
  4. Lolwut? In related news, John Elefante is releasing a new album entitled "Bulletboys". Go figure.
  5. Samples of all tracks from the following added to main site. Click on an album cover to go listen.
  6. I doubt it will be 8 games. More likely 2-3. If it *IS* 8 games, then the NFL is setting the unpopular precedent that deflating game balls is more severe than repeat DUIs or beating your significant other.
  7. Look at the album cover. It's "FOUR" with the numeral 4 within the "O", so they decided to refer to it in text as F4UR.
  8. Love the sense of humor and the use of props. Excellent! The vocals on the other hand... yeesh...
  9. W.A.S.P. is another interesting one. I think they fall into the same category as KISS and Metallica, where traditional or "die hard" fans prefer the earliest material and shun the later material. While Headless Children is excellent ("Forever Free" is just an awesome ballad), to me W.A.S.P.'s pinnacle musically was Crimson Idol, with Still Not Black Enough second. To this day, there is something about the drum recording and production on those latter two albums that has never been eclipsed by any artist on any album. "Titanic Overture" is just sonic instrumental bliss to my ears.
  10. Metallica is an interesting one. Original fans tend to STRONGLY prefer their early material and shun the later releases. Musically, my favorite album is Ride the Lightning. Commercially, and in terms of mass appeal, I think there's absolutely no question it's the Black Album. That was a watershed release.
  11. I hope to fuck that's a demo, because the sound qualilty is ass.
  12. In my opinion: Stylistically - Debut and 7800 Degrees Fahrenheit Commercially - Slippery When Wet
  13. Meh, ok. But it's not Autograph. Just like the new Bonfire isn't Bonfire.
  14. And now... Tebow Time!!! Seriously??? I mean he's a great guy and all, but cannot play QB. Reuniting him with Mark Sanchez... have we become the New York Jets? WTF is Kelly doing?
  15. Any fan of retro/early 80s music and videos will love this one. The one, the only, the Hoff!
  16. Hawaaaah???? Dafuq? Seriously, how can anyone in our age demographic NOT be a fan? A seminal film (if not series of films) that ushered in a new era in science fiction movies. The special effects in the original movie were unlike anything seen before. 10 academy award nominations, winning 6... something science fiction movies just didn't do. I never went to the extent of going to conventions or fandom ala Trekkies, but I remember going to see the original movie in the theatre in 1977. The theatre sold out and had people sitting in the aisles... something else that never happened. Those people who are younger that only experienced it for the first time on video tape or DVD likely can't appreciate what that film was. It's our era's "Wizard of Oz" (first time color film was used in a motion picture). Not a fan?
  17. This album is all over the map. Some tracks I dig and others leave me scratching my head. Here's a WTF moment: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/audio/michaelbormann_cantgetatouch.mp3 And a track that IMO is quite good: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/audio/michaelbormann_neversaydie.mp3
  18. I think the tribute band comparison is accurate. Technically, the rendition sounds accurate and decent, but it's missing something... it's as if Harnell is just going through the motions... it lacks emotion.
  19. Geoff... stop being a twat. Not everyone listens to music the way YOU do. As I have said here many a time, lyrics and words mean far less TO ME than to others. I can listen to praise/worship Christian rock back to back with satanic Black metal and not skip a beat. For me it is about the sound and melody. Heck, even with music sung in English, I pretty much ignore the lyrical content. It's all about the SOUND for me. The actual words being sung pass in one ear and out the other, only rarely registering in terms of comprehension. The only time it comes into play is if there is extreme cursing or filth and I have to be aware of the content not for my own sake but for those around me who might hear it, and the listening/working environment I am in at the time. You don't agree with that way of listening, or even understand it, fine. But insulting people by claiming the only reason anyone would ever listen to music in a language they don't understand is for the "look at me factor" is being a dick. You don't like foreign language music. We get it. This is no different than those who put guitar work and solos far higher on the importance list than those who consider vocals or vocal harmonies to be of primary importance. It's an aesthetic choice. You value English lyrics and the ability to understand them far more than others do. Neither way is right or wrong... it's just different ways of experiencing and enjoying music.
