1. Been listening quite a bit, and I love the damned thing. If I had to sum it up in one phrase, given where the bands in question are today, I would say "More Journey than Journey."
2. Wow, I like it too, especially the second clip. Production and vocals are better than the first vid. I may have to pick this one up.
3. Vocally, I can dig it, but instrumentally I hear too much of that grunge-era "Seattle sound" with the downtuned guitars that I really don't like, at least in the teaser clip. Will have to see; maybe it's a grower.
4. Well my Oreagles have turned it arround today, signing both Demarco Murray and Ryan Mathews, which gives us a backfield of Murray, Mathews, Sproles, and Polk. Wicked (although Polk is likely to be traded). Still not happy with the Sam Bradford acquisition, but that backfield is a MONSTER. In effect, we traded LeSean McCoy for Kiko Alonso, Demarco Murray and $5.5 million. That's a win.
5. Damn. R.I.P. He was only 50... gives one a sense of your own mortality.
6. Samples from the 4 CDs over on the main site: http://heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glamcd.cgi?BandNum=236&CDName=Rock%20n%20Roll%20Rebels%20and%20the%20Sunset%20Strip%20Vol.%201
7. So then we'd get songs like "Praying for Pussy" and "Reacharound for Jesus"?
8. I'll start: I am COMPLETELY perplexed by the Eagles off-season moves this year. They make zero sense whatsoever. Speculation was that Nick Foles would be packaged in some sort of a trade to move up and get Marcus Mariota, but today they traded Foles for... Sam Bradford??? Dafuq?! The dude gets injured reading the fucking paper at breakfast. That and trading for every Oregon Duck in the NFL... EDIT: Landscape is changing now... apparently draft pick swap and additional picks are part of the mix. I hope the fuck so...
9. Maybe I haven't paid attention to recent FM albums, but this album is sounding quite spiffy... harkens back to vintage early '90s FM in places. Great listenability.
10. Am listening to this now. Considerably better than I was expecting. The lead vocalist is better than I thought he would be. Sounds like some of the backing vox are looped, but that isn't surprising these days. The audio fidelity for a live release is VERY good. One place that I always bash live recordings is that you normally get lots of bass and drums, but vocals and keys get lost in the mix... NOT so with this one. I'm surprised how prominent the keys are in the mix. Well done on that front. Nikola Mijic (Lead Vocals) Thorsten Koehne (Guitars) Paul Logue (Bass & Vocals) Steve Williams (Keys & Vocals) John Clelland (Drums) After nine years of EDEN’S CURSE, the multinational Hard Rock/Melodic Metal band now presents their first ever Live album. Initially formed as a studio project, EDEN’S CURSE has blossomed into a fully fledged first class live act with high ambitions. A UK tour with Stratovarius was the catalyst, while dates with Dream Theater gave them a taste of the big time. However the past two years has seen EDEN’S CURSE truly making their mark on the live scene from appearing at several festivals and even taking the brave steps of going out on their own seven date UK headlining tour. With four fantastic and widely celebrated studio albums already under their belts, the thought of releasing a Live album was never far from the mind, but the main source of inspiration came from their ardent fan base. The culmination was no more evident than after the last night of the ‘Symphony Of Sin UK Tour’’ in London. They band came off stage on such a high and the feedback and comments coupled with fan pressure to re-record the older material with Nikola singing made them certain that the time was right! Acclaimed UK journalist and Classic Rock Magazine scribe Dave Ling remarked "... When everything clicked into gear, the full force of the magnificence of Eden’s Curse became evident. Serbian front man Nikola Mijic has a warm, rich voice that complements the material". He went onto add "... a regal encore of ‘Judgement Day’, ‘Evil & Divine’ and ‘Angels & Demons’ set the seal on a truly excellent performance". So planning began for the recording of the first ever EDEN’S CURSE Live album and anyone who knows the band will be aware of their high standards that they set for everything that they do - ‘Live With The Curse’ is no exception! Recording took place on November 28th 2014 at an EDEN’S CURSE headlining show at The Classic Grand in Glasgow. Fans from all over Europe, and as far away as Japan, traveled to Scotland to witness and be part of this truly special event. What more does a Live Album need than a enthusiastic crowd, a great club and a highly motivated band? The setlist of course contains fan favorites and classics from all four EDEN’S CURSE albums: ‘Eden’s Curse’ (2007), ‘The Second Coming’ (2008), ‘Trinity’ (2011) and 2013’s ‘Symphony Of Sin’. Mix and Mastering of the Live recordings were handled by the band’s long-time engineer Dennis Ward (Pink Cream 69 / Unisonic), who managed to capture the concert’s energy and vibe perfectly. The cover artwork was once again created by artist Thomas Ewerhard (Edguy / Avantasia), who has also worked with EDEN’S CURSE since the times of their 2007 debut album. ‘Live With The Curse’, packed with 100 minutes on 2 CDs,will be released on March 13th. Right in time for the next EDEN’S CURSE concerts with Freedom Call in Germany and The Netherlands.
11. That whole '70s transgender glam genre leaves me cold. I didn't like Bowie from that era, and I don't like this.
12. Not my favorite style either, but if you're into that genre, they do it very well.
13. Actually, the most winning part of the song was the video itself. Some good bits of humour throughout. Song = Good. Chorus = Poo.
14. Haters! All of You!!! It's catchy; it's well produced. I don't mind it as an occasional diversion in the listening rotation. Now granted, it's not the musical genius or aural nirvana of the latest Vince O'Regan magnum opus, but hey you can't have everything...
15. The new Fall Out Boy album "American Beauty/American Psycho" is way better than I expected. I hadn't listened to anything since Under the Cork Tree in 2005. They've come a long way and become more modern rock (ditching a lot of the punk elements). This particular track is quite catchy in a retro kinda way...
16. 300??? *snort* They made it sound like they're playing in front of a crowd of 10,000. I knew it sounded off...
17. Now now, don't be a douchebag. I looked through that thread, but there seems to be very little actual discussion in it, just lots of list posting.
18. Dumb question #843: I'm not at all familiar with the size of the venue or the size of the crowd in attendence, but it sounds to me like there has been canned crowd noise added. I wouldn't expect that amount of it, its consistent high volume level, or that pitch/timbre of crowd noise at a melodic rock show where most of the attendees are people aged 30+ (hell, likely 45+). Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry... where zillions of teenage girls are in attendence, sure. This ain't that crowd. It just sounds a bit fake to my ears.
19. I don't know that you can isolate it that far. I just browsed the newest music releases looking for groups with new releases I recognized, then when you click on a release, below the product information, Amazon gives you a left-right scrolling list of "Customers Who Bought This Item Also Bought" which frequently gives you stuff in the same genre. It's a bit of trial and error, but I find that Amazon's suggestions frequently pop up groups/releases I might not have been aware of. If there are not sound samples on the CD page, always check and see if it is also offered as a digital album and then go to that page. There are a lot of CDs on Amazon where samples are only provided on the digital version product page.
20. Got an Amazon GC for my birthday, so I went shopping for 2015 releases... all over the map stylistically: All That Remains - The Order of Things Black Star Riders - The Killer Instinct (Deluxe 2-CD Ed.) Blind Guardian - Beyond the Red Mirror Fall Out Boy - American Beauty/American Psycho Falling in Reverse - Just Like You Farmikos - S/T H.E.A.T. - Live in London Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors Papa Roach - F.E.A.R. Red - Of Beauty and Rage Revolution Saints - S/T Sweet & Lynch - Only to Rise The Dreaming - Rise Again I've only done some spot checking of a few discs thus far, but both the Black Star Riders and Papa Roach sound promising.
21. David Reece singing is *NOT* Bonfire...
22. No it isn't, although just like the original music polls issue that prompted having a separate area, if you are being barraged with seemingly similar/redundant discussions, I can see how some might get annoyed, especially if they are not particularly interested. Also, since you can subscribe to specific folders/forums, by separating these out, people can continue to subscribe to the "General Music Discussion" without being hit by polls or yearly best-of lists, and someone who wants both can simply subscribe to both areas. Best of all options, IMO.
23. I have moved all of the "Best of" threads into the "Music Polls" subforum and renamed it to "Music Polls and Best of Lists". Hopefully that will keep the annoyance factor down to a dull roar...
