  1. Over 8 hours of almost entirely new material. The emphasis is on 2009 releases, but there's plenty of other material as well. I still plan to add more material as I get time. http://www.live365.com/stations/151867?play -Dan
  2. Now that I've spent time with all 4, Pistol Dawn is my favorite.
  3. Thanks to those who have donated thus far. Every little bit helps! So far $205 has been donated, which will cover a month's worth of site expenses. Keep 'em comin' -Dan
  4. Can you try now? Everything is working fine for me, including (FINALLY!) the search! They did some optimizing of the settings and database, and searches are working very fast... at least for the moment. -Dan
  5. I'm seeing about a 3-day delay on getting PM notification emails. Anyone else? I've filed a support ticket on the issue. Thanks, -Dan
  6. Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I'm glad I'm no longer part of the whole blue-collar/union/grievance scene. It was an utterly demoralizing work environment. Hey, who knows, you hopefully will end up with something 5x better!
  7. *sigh* I remember when I used to go on major scrounging trips...
  8. Uhh... most of the stuff in your rant started way before Obama was elected....
  9. Yes kiddies, it's that wonderful time of the year, time for the quasi-annual Heavy Harmonies donation drive. It's part of what enables HH to remain free for everyone to use. Keeping the site going costs bucks, and as you can see from the donations page, it's not uncommon to go a month or so without any donations at all... I realize that times are tough for everyone, and with the economy being as craptacular as it is, everyone's counting their pennies. Unfortunately, the company that provides the server, the server admin, and the bandwidth, doesn't give me a break because the economy sucks. In addition to the hard server costs, there are additional monthly fees for this board and the radio station feed. All told, my costs run about $200 a month. The drive will run through June 15. No great ideas for the prizes, so I'm going to simplify a bit: For every $5 you donate, you'll get an entry into a drawing I'll hold the last week of June following the end of the donation drive. There will be 5 sets of prizes, each containing 5-10 random CDs. Some will be HH-worthy, some will be complete and utter crap... basically what I have lying around. But hey, isn't it fun getting random CDs in the mail for free, no matter how useless they are? Shipping and insurance of the prizes is on me; CDs will be shipped without jewel cases to save on postage. At the end of the drive, donors will be listed on the donors page unless you prefer not to be listed. PayPal donation links are found at the top of all the pages on the main site, or if you'd prefer to send a money order, check, or cash (not recommended, but I know some people prefer to do so), you can make payable to Dan Harding and send to: Heavy Harmonies P.O. Box 17212 Urbana, IL 61803 USA Regardless of the form of the prizes, please donate because you enjoy using the site, not because you think you might win a prize. Once again, your support is greatly appreciated! -Dan
  10. Just my 2 cents but if I saw someone list a CD that said 1990 original release, then I would think it was the 1990 pressing just based on them saying "original" release. But if they just said something to the fact as "released in 1990", then that's different and I'd ask first if I actually cared about the pressing being sold. Huh? I'm interpreting Matt's comments differently than you are. If the listing did indeed say "1990 original release" then yes, I think there's a valid beef. I'm reading the "original release, yes?" to be part of Matt's commentary, not wording from the listing. Matt, can you provide a link to the listing so we're not guessing what was actually said? Thanks, -Dan P.S. That's why I always provide high-res pics of the tray card back, so people can make their own determination if it's the pressing they are looking for, rather than leaving it open to interpretation...
  11. Matt, you're a good dude, but I gotta say I think you're way off base on this one. The album was released in 1990. When people list things, the majority of the time the year that is listed is the year the album came out, not the year of the specific pressing. If you're lucky, the seller will list both, but the information that 99% of people out there are looking for is the year of the album's release, not the year a given pressing came out. You *ASSUMED* that the year given was that of the pressing, not the year of the album. If it was that critical that you not just receive any pressing of the CD, but instead a SPECIFIC pressing of the CD, you needed to ask before buying. You jumped to conclusions, man... -Dan
  12. Umm, it's not a bootleg guys. http://www.bsnpubs.com/aandm/irs.html See down at the bottom of the page where all the releases on the label are listed. Black Sabbath - Tyr is one of them.
  13. Wow, does that mean my 2003 Grand Am GT1 will become a rare collector's item? Time to list it on eBay: "Rare out-of-print 2003 Pontiac Grand Am 48K Miles Ltd. Edition LQQK!!!"
  14. Eagles day 1 was decent, but day 2 has me scratching my head. Andy must not see any difference between the 3rd round talent and the 5th round talent. As far as sheer entertainment: Hehehe.... Raiders... hehehe.... talk about a team circling the bowl. With their first pick (#7) they pick a player projected at #30, leaving Michael Crabtree on the board. With their 2nd pick (2nd round) they pick a safety from Ohio Univeristy (not Ohio State) that no one knew anything about. Only the top 40 safeties in the draft were individually ranked; he wasn't one of them.... the top 5 safeties in the draft were all still available. Apparently he had the fastest 40 time of all the safeties (4.36 I think) and in Al Davis's feeble mind that outweighed all other considerations. It's always fun watching what the Raiders do in the draft... they're so unpredictable!
  15. I really don't pay attention to the teams out west... actually, who am I kidding, I don't follow the NBA whatsoever. I do, however, check in on the Jazz from time to time just to see how Illinois alum Deron Williams is doing. Some games he's the only thing keeping that team together...
  16. Hey, if tribute bands can be sued for singing the songs of the bands they are a tribute to, why the fuck not? I hope to hell Pineda is getting paid like a motherfucker, because it's only a matter of time before the Ego Boys screw him over just like they've done to every other lead singer who has sung for the band...

  18. Been digesting this CD over the last few days and finally voted. First, excellent album, Pete! I actually prefer this project to Rockarma. I think it's primarily the vocals and the songwriting/structure. A lot more toetappers and replay potential on High Gear. My top 3: 3. Heaven. Chorus is a screamer on this one. Vintage mid-paced ballad. 2. Nowhere Fast. My being a Meat Loaf fan, this should come as no surprise. Personally I think this song was excellent! I don't mind flying in the face of prevailing sentiment on this one; I dig the track. and numero uno: 1. Have It All. Crunchy, very crunchy! The overall vibe reminds me a bit of one of my alltime favorite tracks, Dangerous Child off the CD Never Surrender by Red Dawn, but just slightly more modern in the guitar riffs. The combination of balls and melodic chorus works WELL! Missing the keys though...
  19. Heard this cover playing in a Lincoln commercial tonight and had to try and hunt it down. It's definitely a pop rendition, but damn if itsn't catchy.... not to mention that it's one of my alltime favorite songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZvSuXXhuROw
  20. If the posted samples are indeed them, it's not half bad. I don't know about "heavier than metal" but I've definitely heard worse.
  21. If clearing cache and cookies doesn't do it, have you tried a different web browser (FireFox, Opera, Google Chrome, Safari)?
  22. Posted by "AJ in Nashville" on the MR board: Damn. R.I.P.
  23. Nope. Gotta wait 3 minutes between sending PMs. That's the big change actually. It's to prevent spammers from registering and then using scripts to PM-spam all the users on the board.
  24. That's intentional. It's to prevent someone from registering and then PM-spamming users by the hundreds using automated scripts. You have to wait 3 minutes between PMs.
