  1. I haven't tried to hide my opinion on the new W.E.T. CD, that I think it's very good, but not the aural orgasm it's made out to be over on the MR forum. That being said, the last track on the CD, "If I Fall" is just a monster, and a big ole' FUCK YOU to Neal and the boys. It really makes you wonder what a full Journey studio CD would have been with JSS. And quite frankly, I think JSS should do a full Journey album... without Journey. Give it a listen. It's a long track, just over 6 minutes in length. Everything from the vocals to the guitars to the song choruses is pure vintage Journey. If I Fall (256kbps) -Dan
  2. Solid and good, but not overly memorable to me. It's another JSS project; maybe he's just set the bar so high that each new one has a tough job surpassing the previous one. As I said over at MR, this one gets an 88, not a 98 from me. Will listen further though... -Dan
  3. I guess I'm not feelin' the same love for W.E.T. that everyone else is. It's a very good album, but it's not blowing me away. There's nothing on it that goes "over the top" for me. It's too similar to all the other generic JSS projects he's done. I need to play it some more and see if it grows on me, but thus far it gets a resounding "ok" from me. Mastedon, on the other hand, is kicking my ass six ways to Sunday. -Dan
  4. Ahh, the naievete and optimistic exuberance of youth. Like a puppy humping your leg. I was a young liberal once. And then I grew up, got a job, had to pay taxes, and actually had something to lose... at which point the socialistic redistribution of wealth and social-engineering practices that the liberal movement engages in lost their allure.
  5. The award was given for his intent, not his actual accomplishments (he hasn't actually done anything yet). Never mind that this isn't the purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize. The deadline for nominations was in February, only 12 days after he took office! Politics. Gotta love it. Another perspective: http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/...1929395,00.html
  6. I see... a name change... in your future... behold.... "Petalicious"
  7. LOFCAUDIO was "hard rock"? Seriously? I wouldn't put it any heavier than the new material, probably a bit lighter actually. It's a Jungle Out There always struck me as the heavier of the two albums, but even that wasn't all that heavy. Oh well, to each their own. I'm enjoying it.
  8. Thanks, Dan!!! Didn't Kerry Livgren contribute to that song? Not sure what you mean by "contribute". Kerry Livgren plays on the whole album. -Dan
  9. CD added to site and 1-minute audio samples posted of all tracks: http://www.heavyharmonies.com/cgi-bin/glam...=3&Letter=A
  10. OMFG! The track "One Day Down by the Lake (See You Real Soon)" is stylistically straight off Kansas - Vinyl Confessions! This is way too frickin' cool. EDIT: This track is almost 11 minutes long, and it is amazing.
  11. You can hook up an external USB drive to a DirecTV DVR to expand internal storage, but you cannot add DVR functionality to a non-DVR receiver with DirecTV. The allure of this to me is (1) circumventing the monthly DVR fee, and (2) not having to get new receivers, since my current receiver is not a DVR. Very consumer-friendly on the part of Dish, in my opinion.
  12. Am listening to the new Mastedon for the first time as I type this. VERY promising! Updated with a slightly more modern approach, but with the signature Elefante sound that the name conjures. His voice is in fine form. My favorite track thus far, and it is a MONSTER, in my opinion: Nowhere Without Your Love Release date is Tuesday (Oct. 6) -Dan
  13. I'm with Dish, and I ain't goin' nowhere. Why? My package doesn't exist any more, but I'm grandfathered in, so as long as I don't make any programming changes, I get to keep it in perpetuity The package I have is "AbsoluteHD" which is basically all the HD channels and nothing else. That's fine for me, because I won't watch non-HD content if I can avoid it. Now, the downside is that as Dish adds NEW HD channels, I won't get them unless I switch to one of the higher priced packages, but it ain't worth it to get MTV-HD, BET-HD, Foxnews-HD, Nick-HD, etc. All the channels I normally watch are already there in HD (A&E, USA, TNT, Bravo, ESPN, etc.). I just called up to get an additional HD box for a ghetto home theater I'm putting together, and if I am willing to commit to a 2-year contract (I was out of contract) the box and installation will be free; the only thing I have to do is pay the $7/month fee for a second box. No brainer, sicne I wasn't planning to switch anyway. For 2 HD boxes + HD locals + AbsoluteHD + CinemaxHD = $49.99 net. For anyone on Dish considering getting a DVR and thus having to pay the $6/month DVR fee per receiver, DON'T DO IT! You're hosing yourself. Dish has a little-publicized program where you can hook up an external USB 2.0 hard drive to non-DVR receivers, and pay a ONE-TIME $39.99 fee per ACCOUNT and you will have full DVR capability with no recurring charges. Do the math. If you have 1 boxes with DVR capability, it pays for itself in 7 months. If you have 2 boxes, it pays for itself in 4 months. Plus, since it's a single fee per ACCOUNT, not per box or hard drive, you can use whatever size hard drive you want and upgrade on your dime and schedule; you're not limited to the internal capacity of the hard drive in the DVR unit itself. Seagate 500GB external hard drives are about $70, 1TB externals about $110. Some people are reporting better luck with Western Digital drives. NOTE: it must be an AC-powered drive, not one that pulls power from USB. You can also switch back and forth between hard drives. From a post at DBSTalk: Dish only "officially" supports hard drive sizes up to 750GB, but folks at satelliteguys.us report success with current 1TB and 2TB drives (although success varies by brand).
  14. Not their usual fare, but keep in mind that (1) it's a collaborative piece, and (2) its from a forthcoming acoustic CD. Personally, I think it's awesome, but then again I don't know if there's anything WT has ever done that I didn't like...

  16. What's next - If you say the name of a band or song in public you have to cut ASCAP/BMI/RIAA a check? Talk about going out of their way to kill an industry. Don't get me started on the fuckers wanting to collect on 30-second samples. Been there. Done that. BMI wanted thousands from me for mono 30-second samples. That's why I took them all down the first time around. Now I only post samples from labels or artists that either submit directly to me or with whom I have blanket agreements with. As the economy tanks further and these leeching organizations look for ways to pad their pockets, look for it to only get worse... *SPIT*
  17. April Rain is better than Lucidity. More lush, more vocal harmonies.
  18. Well, in the original problem thread I asked for some specific information to try and diagnose the problem, but never got a response, either in post, pm, or email. What browser are you using? What operating system are you using? We need to try and isolate WHERE the problem lies: 1. Since no one else is reporting this problem, I doubt it is a problem with the database or the board configuration. 2. Have you tried using a different web browser? If you usually use IE, download Firefox or Google Chrome and try accessing the board. That will help determine if it is a browser/cache/cookies issue. 3. Try going through an anonymous proxy (http://www.hide-me-now.com) and log in and see if you can post or reply. This may isolate whether the problem is ISP or DNS related. I see no entries in the blocked IP addresses that correspond to Dave's last posted-from address; nothing even close. The fact that the problem occurs on multiple computers *and* multiple accounts implies to me that it is somehow ISP- or network-related. -Dan
  19. Yep. If you're not logged in as a member and you don't have 25 posts you can no longer read this part of the forum. That gbayemporium fucker scammed me (I should have been paying attention and blocked his ass) and gave my my only neg of the last year as well as fucking up my star ratings. He sent me email saying that the whole reason he did it was because of the comments people made here on the board. eBay won't do anything because the communication was done outside of eBay.
  20. It's just The Man (or in this case a diminuitive Asian woman) tryin' to keep a Bruthah (or in this case Sistah) down. I never realized just how full of wingnuts tennis fandom is. Take a gander at some of the tennis forums out there... the Williams sisters fanbase is... umm... a bit rabid. It's scary. -Dan
  21. I agree with gener8tr. At some point Jaded Heart went from being AOR to Euro power metal. They went from being Frontline to Gamma Ray. Nothing wrong with that, but it sure as hell ain't AOR.
  22. Listening now. It continues in the heavier vein ala the last album, and while it probably won't make my top 5 for 2009, there are definitely some cool tracks on it. Check out this one: Blood-Stained Lies
  23. Listening to it now. It's hit or miss, in my opinion. Too fragmented stylistically to hold my attention. Some great tracks and then some clunkers. I'm finding myself preferring the less "modern" tracks that harken back to their older sound.
  24. Actually, the best Brother Firetribe track to date (in my not-so-humble opinion) is this one. (It's a hi-res MP3, so it may take a while to download). Really though, you can't ever go wrong with BF. Even some of the funky remixes are cool... like this one. -Dan
