chocularok
Does anyone out there (80smetalcollector, Recordjinky) have a current list of what titles are pressed on silver discs? I think that those are the ones that most people here at the board would be most likely to pick up.
heavyharmonies
I got this from Sam when I inquired; I don't know if it's an exhaustive list, but it's good information to have: Hi Dan , it's always a pleasure to hear your input and believe me when I say I wish ALL Retrospect releases could be silver. There are some bands worth risking the investment and there's others I am extremely glad I didnt. I guess at this point I am certainly willing to put forth silver discs for bands I 'believe' will sell quite a few units. To be honest , I should have pressed Defcon the first time around cuz I knew they would do well. So there will be a silver press of that after the first 100 sell out. Both Mariah albums are silver. The upcoming AXTION release will be silver. And there will be some more coming too , like the brand new official 2 cd set version of Herman ze German & Friends featuring 21 tracks. Silver -presses will be somewhat sporadic , depending on if I truly believe in the band. The re-issue of Tainted Angel "A little Heaven" will have 2 bonus tracks and lyrics and all sorts of good stuff that wasn't on the original. Evil Rick
There are several cd's on Retrospect that I would like to buy...but I do not want a cd-r. So far the list of what is silver pressed appears to be: Defcon (later issues, not the first 100 pressed) AXTION Herman ze German & Friends Tainted Angel - A little Heaven (possibly, he doesn't say it will be silver pressed for sure in the above statement) If anyone knows of any other silver pressed Retrospect releases please post them here. I really would like this list to be as up to date as possible for the benefit of everyone.
BrianJ8173
XL New York is silver pressed as is Strikeforce. By the way, I really don't want CD-R either, but if I really want a title on CD I just buy it and try to forget it's a CD-R. It's stupid, I know... I know Sam will press on CD-R first to see if there's demand for the title, and if it sells out (like Defcon), it gets a regular CD pressing. While I can somewhat understand this, I still don't think it's fair to all those who bought it in the first place. In the case of Defcon, I bought it when it first came out, but now it's been pressed on CD with better artwork and liner notes. It means I have to buy it again if I want the "real" version, and I really have no desire to do this... hell, I bought it once already, do I have to shell out another 17 bucks just because I didn't wait for the proper version to come out?? I do support Retrospect and they do release some excellent stuff, I just don't think this "system" is fair to all us first-time buyers...

Will people shy away from an initial pressing in the hopes that the second issue will be superior to the first? Also, I wonder what the response would be if someone asked to exchange their initial cd-r press for a second issue silver pressed cd.
2023 Gold Donors headbanger4life Posted May 28, 2006 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted May 28, 2006 I must have missed this post when it came out a few months ago. I have been trying to find out which titles on Retrospect were silver pressings. There is a lot of great stuff, but I want silver cds. This will help me to get the some of the stuff that I want.
Swazi
Does this now mean that the DEFCON on their website is silver pressed in the meantime ??
Kim_Hp
Yes, I think the one on the website is silver pressed as the CD-R's sold out some time ago. The best thing of course would be to state on the site which titles are silver pressed and which one's aren't, just to avoid confusion...

The best thing of course would be to state on the site which titles are silver pressed and which one's aren't, just to avoid confusion... Won't happen though. It's a negative selling point, and if the majority of people don't care whether the disc is pressed or a CD-R, why (as a seller) would you draw attention to that fact? Now that being said, if people inquire about which releases are silver pressed, Retrospect should be (and I believe for the most part has been) forthcoming with that information. I also personally think that if someone buys a CD, receives a CD-R, and is upset about it, the seller should accept a return for a full refund. -Dan
Retrospect Records
If I may respond here.... The Defcon 2nd SILVER pressing will look completely different and have different songs. The first 100 will become collectors items because of that. The cover is different and the track-listing is different. And let me make absolutely clear that anyone who is unhappy with getting a cd-r is ALWAYS refunded.....which has only happened once since August of last year. Retrospect Silver Releases.... upcoming Defcon Mariah (both titles) Manila Thrills StrikeForce XL New York other titles on the Retrospect website that are silver and ARE NOT Retrospect releases and are in extremely limited quantity... Heaven Skeleton Crew Widow Laaz Rockit Flyweil Beau Heart Galaxy Group Starz The Cauze Strutt Minoru Niihara StreetWalker Ray Wheeler and the Edge Lots of new releases are out and just been added to the website , newsletter to follow..... Jacob M.
What about Cobra Dane? I really want that cd but I want it silver pressed. $13.99 is a bit high for a cdr if you know what I mean.

They weren't on the list so it'd be a safe bet to assume they are cdrs.
