I had a massive Double Whopper burger from Hungry Jacks for lunch yesterday, then I had 2 homemade hamburgers for dinner last night. Today I will do exactly the same.

Sounds like a heart attack is waiting to open the door for you and welcome you home.

Get the burger with double extra bacon... I think that's meant to prevent heart attacks.

 I'll get back on track soon. It's all I have time for at the moment though.

I have no issues with the hamburgers I make at home. I think a bit of mince cooked up thrown on a fresh breadroll with fresh lettuce and tomato, with onions and a bit of mustard and tomato sauce is actually a relatively healthy meal to be honest. :)

Double Whopper's are made my Burger King in the States.

Do they have those down under?

Burger King is known as "Hungy Jacks" in Australia.

Their bacon double cheeseburger deluxe (or the grease burger as it is more affectionately known) is the best hangover cure known to man.

We used to have both about 4 years ago, but Burger King faded out and now only HJ's remains. I have to say, I did prefer some of the burgers they had at Burger King that didn't make it too HJ. In fact, I think it was just the one. A beautiful Chicken one, which passes as the Country Style Chicken burger at HJs. Delicious, but not as good as BK's. :)

Here in SA we never had any Burger King resturaunts, however there were 2 different chains of Hungry Jacks.... there was the Australian owned 'Hungy Jacks' and the US Burger Kings owned ' Hungry Jacks'.

Not sure how it all worked, but there were 2 distinct chains.

Ian is rebellion defined.

My wife's been in hospital for 5 nights now after receiving a dog bite on the face at work. We were originally thinking she'd not need to go at all, to thinking she'd be a night or two... now it's 5 days later. And it may still be a few more. Insanity. :(

Geoff, I sincerely hope she's OK.

Thanks mate. It's hard to say either way because the doctors aren't really letting her know much. It's hard to get them to say when she'll be okay to go, but it doesn't look like it'll be today or even tomorrow. Definitely one of those situations where I wish it had been me instead. :(

I can't even imagine. Just let the doctors do what they have to do to get her well. Was the bite that bad?

It definitely could have been a lot worse. She got the 2 bottom teeth into the inside of her upper lip and 4 deep teeth marks across her cheek. The problem, though, was the infection and the antibiotics didn't prevent anything. It swelled up insanely large and she needed to be on an IV drip with stronger antibiotics for the swelling to go down. It's gone down a lot (she couldn't even talk or eat or anything on Friday) but there is still a hard pocket of something in her cheek. :( Hopefully it comes out naturally though. They did consider surgery but have held off due to the scarring aspect. This way there should hopefully not be any scars.

Holy crap! Count me in on the best wishes for the wife, Geoff. What happened to the dog that did it? Did they execute the f**ker?

Thanks guys. As for the dog, they treated it (for lymphoma) and it went home the next day. Apparently without the owners being told what happened. Which will be rectified asap if true.

Anyway, further to my story earlier I've just come back from the hospital now after receiving a call at lunch that she was going into surgery. So she's just had that and although super drowsy and probably sleeping now, she is hopefully completely free of all infection. The world can be a cruel place to think my wife is actually one of these people who genuinely love what they do - she loves animals and is truly passionate about being a vet nurse, and then something like this happens in the act of trying to help the little creatures out. Very sad. But hopefully she will be back home tomorrow or at the latest the day after. These good puppies (and me) have been missing the hell out of her. Apparently it won't scar either and the face is a good healer. Crossed fingers they know what they're talking about.

    • My thoughts exactly
    • Some of these I have touched on in the past, but not found myself desperate to explore more. For instance 8 have hardline eclipse and also II. But that's it  Same with a few others on the list, I may have an album. So I guess I really want another Tyketto where the whole catalogue is great. If any on the list fit that bill. In the past I tried out Alfo November. The one with a brick wall in it?, Lillian Axe and a Loudness. Maybe I need to try them again. I purposefully left some off, like Vibbie Vincent Invasion because of the screechy vocals. I guess I always put Mark Free in that group as well.
    • Doesn't sound like Sweet at all but I kinda like it actually.
    • From your list and what hasn't been mentioned ,Sleeze Beez -Screwed,Blued & Tattooed and their Powertool album  ,Bezerk by Tigertailz , first two Lillian Axe , Baton Rouge - Shake Your Soul...all particular favs of mine,I have  a soft spot for Loudness - Thunder In The East also, dunno if you have Master Of Disguise from Lizzy Borden but it would be my fav by them....to be honest most of the artists on that  list I like though
    • New song 'Burning Like A Falling Star' from the forthcoming album 'Full Circle'.
    • Well, the first two "Giant" albums are quintessential, as is the "Hardline" debut. Akdo Nova's "Blood on the Bricks" is one of my all time favourites, Lizzy Borden is awesome as is the Mark/Marcie Free fronted "King Kobra".
    • So some may remember that Tyketto toured recently and aside from Forever Young, I never delved into this band. So I did, so I'd know the songs in concert and was blown away. A great band with an awesome catalog that I had missed out on. To be fair, in the 80's it was a lot harder to access and find out about a lot of the more fringe bands, that's my excuse anyway. So I now am faced with digging deeper into some other bands I've overlooked. Some of these I gave a go, and wasn't really impressed, but now I'm starting fresh with an open mind. So below is a list of bands I have eitehr never bothered with, or never really gave a proper go. Lizzy Borden is on the list and I have done a bit of their stuff and like it a lot, so I will definately dig deeper into them (I've got some older stuff and some newer stuff, but have skipped quite a few albums) But the others, fire away, tell me which bands have killer material that I'll froth and how stppid I've been to skip them. Aldo Nova Badlands Baby Tango Baton Rouge Black N Blue Britney Fox BulletBoys DAD Giant Hanoi Rocks Hardline Jetboy King Kobra Kingdom Come Lillian Axe Lizzy Borden Loudness Love Hate Quireboys Saigon Kick Santa Cruz Shotgun Messiah SleezeBeez SouthGang Tiger Tailz TNT Vain White Tiger
