Well after months of MHR bliss, im back on the modern trail and a few nice discs (some new, some not so)

Before Their Eyes - Untouchable (everything apart from the first and last track is excellent)

Framing Hanley - A Promise To Burn (very good pop/rock in the Anberlin vein)

Dive - Picture Perfect (great sophomore release...this rocks with some real gems on board)

It's Alive - Human Resources (massive production and a host of influences..nice stuff)

Story Of The Year - The Constant (still excellent after many spins!)

Destine - Light Speed (still love this one too - hardly a filler on board)

I agree the Before Their Eyes and Destine are great discs... didn't know Framing Hanley and Dive were avaiable yet, but loved both their debuts so super keen to hear these. No idea who It's Alive are (though vaguely remember a thread here) but will check it out asap.

Spinning:

Hawthorne Heights - 'Skeletons'

The new 'Dive' is excellent mate. 12 songs and not a filler for me. Not all gems obviously but very consistent. Can see you loving the ballad 'My Way'....quite a few songs remind me of the 'No Love Lost' debut.

Is that HH the new one?? I listened to some of that and whilst I like some of the choruses etc I just cant get past that teenie bopper rock sound now! The only band I can stand that sound like that is Simple Plan.

Yeah, the Dive disc sounds good. I'm going to say at the moment it's probably not as good as the debut, but as you say it's very consistent. Good band.

Yeah, the Hawthorne Heights is the new one. I can fully, 100% appreciate you not being into them. I still quite like their CDs, but they annoy me as a band. I don't like them... just their music. Awful vocalist, consistent whiney death lyrics and just an inability to be excellent. Seriously, these last 2 albums are both very good, amazingly consistent. Strong songs, solid melodies and consistently good songs... but man these guys are seriously missing that knock out blow. There was one really cool song on it, but too many good, solid plodders. Needing something more explosive. That said, as long as they keep making these solid discs I'll keen an interested ear for them.

Listening to:

Night Ranger - 'Dawn patrol'

Night Ranger - 'Midnight madness'

Night Ranger - '7 wishes'

Night Ranger - 'Big life'

The BIG four NR discs. What a run of albums they are. Almost faultless in my book. :headbanger:

Yep, and don't forget the 5th in an awesome run; 'Man in motion'... which I will be putting in the player right after 'Big Life'. Seriously a very good band they were.

Yeah backed. Those 4 albums are great, but I probably prefer the sound and songs of Man In Motion. Almost perfect MHR without a filler in sight. Great band.

For me it's 'Assassing' but the whole album is awesome.

If I were to pick a least favourite, probably Punch And Judy, at the moment!

    • It's ok. I think people know I am a massive Crue fan, and I like a lot of stuff by them that people hate (the Generation Swine album for example) but the only newer original song I have cared about them in recent years was The Dirt. Everything else has been either meh or crap. I did also like their cover of Like a virgin, which I know a lot of peeps didn't like, so it's not like I am just craving the good old days. I would be happy if we could get a song close to Afraid, Saints of Los Angeles or the aforementioned The Dirt. I think songs like that will be few and far between sadly.
    • Have to agree. Although my expectations were that it would be absolutely horrible like Dogs of War lol. Still far away from classic Motley Crue but I at least made it all the way through this one so that's a positive. Still nothing to write home about but at least it rocks fairly well and there's a semblance of a song there.
    • Just ordered!   All three Magic Dance EPs (Another World, Kiss Scene and Haunting Me) combined into one CD. All new artwork, lyric booklet and three bonus tracks. Silver-pressed replication CD.     https://magicdance.bandcamp.com/album/magic-dance-the-eps
