Let me tell you chaps this insane story:

Nearly everyday for about the past 2 years I've had a cheese and ham, or cheese and tomato sandwich for lunch at work. I usually put the cheese in the microwave and murder it in the harshest way possible. Today, however, at the end of the day my sandwich sits in the fridge - protected and safe - and lives to fight another day because another option for lunch was given to me today. Conincidence? Fate? Or a cheese-protection scheme flawlessly executed?

My money's clearly on the latter.

In Australia's 'Who wants to be a millionaire' they once asked who coined the phrase 'No man is an island'. I forget now, because he was an option... but Is the correct answer Jon Bon Jovi, or did he steal it from somewhere? I forget. :( In the song he says, 'They say that no man is an island,' doesn't he? So that indicates someone said it before him. Anyone know?

Jeez I love that song; 'Miracle'. Has some of my favourite lyrics in a rock song ever. Eric Brittingham really did Jon a service when he wrote it for him.

It was John Donne back in Renaissance times. He said dat!

Maybe John Donne Jovi?

John Donne wrote "No man is an island," but Steve Gerber wrote "no man is an island, nor even a Peninsula" in issue #11 of "Howard The Duck" (Marvel Comics, circa 1976.) I just re-read that issue a few nights back and it stuck in my head. Actually, the correct quote would be "No duck is an island..." but I figured everyone would find it surreal enough without the "duck" added.

Yes, I'm a geek. :anon:

Vietnam is a country with trees and history. If you need any more information consult your travel agent, or fund a trip for me and I'll go over there and tell you more about it. I'll even do my best to bring back a local lizard for you. Include 2 weeks in Malaysia and we'll dance together on the night before I fly off. We'll dance in the airport, and on the runway... just to show my appreciation.
