Australian Taxpayers funding GnR 2022 Tour

It's at the MCG, one of the largest stadiums in the world.
Holds 100,000 people.
At a GNR concert, maybe 60 to 70,000
I got tickets and realised how stoopid I was to see a show there when i sat down so far away from the stage the guys may as well have been stick figures.
Huge TV's were all you could look at.
Luckily my view was obscured so we got moved to some great seats, probably in the premium section.
But I'll never go to a show there again, even if it's free.

Waste of time

Why even bother? The cockmaker variant of covid will just cripple the country, again, at the time. Sincerely don't understand why plans like this are even entertained when there is no hint that this country will ever treat covid with any degree of rationality.

It's crap for acoustics too. I won't bother either if it's at the MCG.

They should moved it to Max Watts or the Corner over few nights and they break even.

So you guys have no issue with taxpayer money being spent on this?...at least they could have found a decent band to back.....

But let's be honest about the whole thing... the Aus government is spending at least 600K per day, every day, on stupid fucking covid tests. If there's ever been a more useless way to piss money down a drain, I challenge you to show me it. So I don't actually even bat an eyelid at a story like this. In fact, it was estimated that taxpayers had spent more than $580 million on covid tests in July this year. With panic absolutely sky-rocketing in this dump at the moment, you could probably double that by now.

So I don't know exactly. Call it $800 million on covid tests, or just under a billion by now. I don't know. But if we think $600K for bringing a band out here we probably won't even be allowed to see is bad, let's just put it into perspective. This country is being abso-fucking-lutely run into the ground in every conceivable way by it's reaction to covid and like I say, this concert amounts to about one single day of pointless covid tests.

I do have an issue with it. I agree the covid test expenditure is also over the top, but that doesn't make paying multimillionaire rockers with taxpayer funds less of a crock.

Nah,
I mean what's the point having an issue?
Can't control it or change it, but yes, the govt should stay away from commercial concerts unless there are some $$$ to make by them.
On a lighter note, anyone hear Seb Bach trying to sing some Skid Row songs today?
Came up in my Facebook feed and was Vince Neilesque...

    • Wow, why go through all that for just lies.
    • Looks like complete bullshit. Look at all of the videos from this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@infogaming786/videos
    • Is this true, I don't see much about it anywhere else?
    • Well they just posted this on Facebook, so I would certainly hope this is a sign a new album is incoming
    • Sounds pretty good all round...just preordered..released 22nd Nov
    • Luckily I will hopefully be front row so wont make a mess on anyones back.
    • If we never hear from you again, at least we'll know you went out with a smile on your face.
    • Wow! Thank you so much mate. That's a massive compliment. That was the first one I wrote and I think it's my favourite so far. Like Geoff, I'm tending to draw on past personal experiences for my lyrics and that one means a lot. I was thrilled when the AI came up with that interpretation.
    • Well this is some excellent news. Going to see Sophie Lloyds first headline show on 17th Oct in London (tiny club called The Underworld) and it has just been announced that the support act will be Chez Kane... can I handle two fit birds peforming on stage or will my heart give out before the show is over?
    • I don't rate or grade albums with any kinda numbering system or percentage. All I do is think which were the albums I enjoyed most, which generally means got played the most (I mean you don't play the worst albums over and over again for months), with memorable songs. Then when it comes to what order they go in. Once again, I just go with what I feel got the most airplay for me over the course of time. Obviously an album released in Jan is gonna potentially have more play time than one released in November, but It's down to longevity as well. If I play an album solidly for a month then move on, it's probably gonna be top 10, but if other albums are still being played regularly 3 or more months after release, those are gonna rank higher. I mean this year Judas Priest was a fairly early release in the year, but I am still playing it now, although  not as often. Then an album like Mick Mars which I loved, but has kinda fallen off my radar in the last six months, will rank a lot lower. I try to not go for recency bias as well even though I have been listening to one album in my top 10 for only a week, but it was such an insantaneous album I know its gonna get heavy play time for the next few months.
