Metallic Blue Records

Recommended Posts

This Monday I received a package in the mail that I have been anxiously awaiting with bated breath for a couple of months. It contained the CDs from the new METALLIC BLUE RECORDS LABEL that was recently started by one of the members of our group, Josh Dowdle. I felt compelled to post to let all of you know about this great new label and the bands being offered now and in the future if you haven't already heard of it. I know I have discussed with many of my collector friends the need for these small labels to propel these obscure bands and CDs to us for our collections. If you are like me, I hate the new wave of downloading and love to hold the physical CD in my hands. Oh, I have to mention, the liner notes and entire packaging on these Metallic Blue Records CDs are first class as is the sound. Most of you know I am a stickler for high quality audio....LOL!! Please, check out the new label and support it if you can, and Josh, I think you've put together a great package starting out.....good luck and long life.......

I'm disappointed he never posted about the venture here or even reached out.

Oh well, I guess all the trade drama he was involved in soured him on HH.

That is surprising to me.   The only response I can make would be that maybe it is something that was overlooked.   I'm sure there's much involved in starting a project such as this.   Actually, I hadn't seen anything anywhere advertising the new label, only learned of it when discussing a trade with Josh back in May sometime.   I'd be great if he did reach out to you......

I don't even know what to say. Who are those bands? Where did they come from? Does the label go after the most obscure of obscure? I don't recognize any of the bands on their label.

Jacob

That is the essence of my post....here is a label providing the obscure bands for us....and if you listen to the sound samples on the web page, they are great sounding as well.   I'm certain you have observed numerous bands appear on Escape, Frontier, Perris and other labels and thought "Who are these guys, where did they come from, I don't recognize any of them".........I'm a collector, I have 100's of bands in my collection that I am positive neither you or many others have ever heard of before and when you heard them, would love them.....

Seems most titles are already OUT OF STOCK.  Is that actually the case, or have they yet to be released and there are no pre-orders?

Also, I'd really like some sound samples.

You are spot on.....those titles labelled OUT OF STOCK are ones that will be released in the near future.   The bands have been signed and the releases are being prepared for release.   I know on the titles I purchased in the first release batch, they were listed like this and then changed to "Pre Order" with a release date of August 21 declared......As with any new project, we just have to hold our breath and be patient.

Oh, there are many sound samples posted, you just have to navigate the site by clicking on the "bands" and then there are links to listen to their songs

Most of the bands have at least 3 or 4 different samples posted

Good luck to Josh and his new endeavor, in a time when releasing stuff on vinyl is the way to go!

Great Steelhouse Lane reference in the name.

Judging by his  prices, hopefully he could do some SunCity ones!

Jacob....yes, I have been in touch with both Josh and Jake and the problem has been clearing up legal issues and also the remastering of some of the tracks inorder to get the best quality.   I talked to them about two weeks ago and it appears that the schedule has been delayed until around June 2020 to get everything in order to continue with the planned releases......

That website is painful. So convoluted. Why have multiple pages of nothing to get to a sound sample. And sorry to be a Debbie Downer but way spend the effort to release/re-issue a "hidden gem" that doesn't offer anything more than what would have been the releases original tunes?

All that said and Del you'd have to let us know but I hope the packaging and info's in the j-card are at least quality. For me a Stormspell release would be the baseline, anything less wouldn't be worth the bother.

    • you can choose to use your own lyrics or just describe the premise and it generates them for you - the more detail you put in the closer it will be to what you want. You have 3000 characters of space.  You then describe how the song sounds.  It then creates 2 different songs, but you can carry on creating as many options as you want. You only get 10 songs a day though on the free options and you can't use commercially on the free version - you know like upload to Spotify etc.
    • So I'm currently on my summer hols which gives me time to catch up on alot of music I have missed or haven't listened to in a while. Anyway yesterday I was listening to Broadside - Hotel Bleu ( great album btw). Now I have Spotify set to play similar artists once the album finishes and Honey Revenge were one of those artists. Liked the song I heard so checked out their debut album Retrovision and it's a cracker. The duo are Devin Papadol- vocals and Devin Lloyd - guitar and together have produced and album full of perfect pop rock. Highly Recommended and well worth a listen.   Full album ...
    • So, I'll ask again, but what's the go here mate? Are they your lyrics?  Do you type in a specific genre and instrument combination? What about the melody? I should check it out myself when I have time, but I'm very curious.
    • Nice, they love "Tiger Tiger" in Japan.
    • VIXEN Announces New Singer ROSA LARICCHIUTA June 21, 2024 VIXEN has recruited Rosa Laricchiuta(TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, HEADPINS),as the band's new lead singer following the recent departure of Lorraine Lewis. Laricchiuta made her live debut with VIXEN earlier tonight (Friday, June 21) at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California alongside GREAT WHITE, SLAUGHTER and QUIET RIOT.   Laricchiuta is a singer, songwriter, and performer from Montreal, Quebec. After several years cutting her teeth with live shows, she auditioned for the third season (2015) of "La Voix", Quebec's version of the popular TV show "The Voice". Rosa had an instant connection with the legendary francophone rocker Éric Lapointe and chose him as her coach. Rosa showed a solid stage presence, with remarkable intensity and a voice so powerful it sent her straight to the Grand Finale where she shared the stage with DEF LEPPARD, Kelly Clarkson, Jean Leloup and her idol, Melissa Etheridge. She left a lasting impression as she won over millions of viewers who named her the new "it" female rocker of Quebec.   She then released one album in the Quebec market before beginning work on her first English language album in 2016. That album, "Free", was released the following year and at the end of the year, she joined the popular American band TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRAfor their annual mega tour of the United States. Laricchiuta's hard rock project BLACK ROSE MAZE released its self-titled debut album in August 2020 via Frontiers Music Srl. VIXEN has more than a dozen more shows scheduled for the summer and early fall.
    • Huh, how odd. I just checked and it's indeed there. I guess I'm blind.
    • I see them both in my spotify?! Remixes sound good and better than originals to me!
    • How odd. It appears that only the first remixed album is on Spotify. I usually don't bother to listen to remixes, but I think I'll check this one out.
    • Apparently the first two H.E.A.T albums have been remixed and are on YouTube. I personally don't think there was anything wrong with the originals and some of these new versions seem overproduced to me, but I'll let you all judge for yourselves.
